Such a lovely atmosphere, with us having kids we enjoyed being outside...unfortunately you cannot have meals outside but we could order snacks like chips and chicken nuggets... ice cream for the kids...so that was perfect. Great service and amazing location where kids can enjoy the beach while you enjoy your drinks and snacks. Win win for the whole family

Views!! Views! Views! Absolutely amazing setting with super friendly and accommodating staff. Had the hake, potato wedges and salad. Was nice, but found the batter to be slightly oily.

A gastronomical experience!!! what a delightful restaurant, service was top class and the food was out of this world. I highly recommend the mussel pot for starter and Masala praws as a main. My wife has the calamari starter and Monk fish, best seafood weve had in eons and what about that view. You must book to avoid disappointment.

Stunning setting. You feel almost like you are on the Greek Islands. We had perfect weather and the ocean was turquoise. With seating outside or inside you can decide where you want to be weather pending. Im sure in season you would have to book in advance to get place here.We just popped in for a drink and thats the only reason I do not give it 5 yet....

Had lunch on Heritage day at Gaaitjie restaurant and wow, their food is absolutely top notch. Fresh mouth watering oysters and their Masala prawns is probably the best I have ever had. To top it off, one enjoys this delicious food in a beautiful setting right by the beach. Will definitely recommend and be back again.

Excellent location right on beach, great building with good service

The food was to die for. The mussels were exquisite. The service was however lacking. We had to ask for someone to take our order. Our wine as brought and opened from then on we had to pour our own. After the food was served we didnt see the server at all. I do believe that South Africans get second class treatment in places populated by overseas tourist. This must change.

This restaurant has been on our list to visit. We went for an afternoon lunch. Service was ok but lacking finer touches.Cant fault the food. We had some oysters and MCC. I had three starters to get a toast of everything. Mussel pot, calamari and snoek bootie spring rolls and the wife had seared tuna. All the food was good.The critique I have may be due to West Coast wind. When we arrived, the table was covered with fine sand, even die napkins and side plates. We were sat down and had to wipe it clean ourselves. It did however not stop, sand kept comming. Maybe on windy days avoid the porch tables facing the sea.Otherwise highly recomended.

Wife and I had a great evening at the Gaaitjie recently. The food was fresh and delicious. We had 3 sources, and each was amazing. The service from the staff was excellent. And the setting on the beach from in Paternoster rounded an awesome evening.

Beautiful setting! Uninterrupted views of the bay.At first glance the menu seemed uninspiring and borrowed.However, the tastes were definitely inspiring and classic flavours are revived! Perfectly balanced meals!Our waitress was charming and authentic, which contributed to a one of a kind experience.Will definitely return to experience more of the highly skilled cooking and hospitality.

We had an amazing experience at Die Gaaitjie. Our table looked out over the ocean and the food and service was incredible. Fresh fish and vegetables and delicious flavours. A place worth a visit!

We got to Paternoster and went to one of the restaurants there. Didnt see anything we liked on the menu and what a blessing that was! Luckily we landed up at this unassuming, quaint restaurant right on the beach. Service was impeccable, food was out of this world and all four of us had not had a single unimpressive moment enjoying our food! Thank you so much for the experience and next time were in town we will most definitely be back to try something else on your very impressive menu!!!

A really lovely unpretentious gem of a restaurant in a superb location with great simple menu and good drinks served with charm by the whole staff. Our table on the covered terrace looking over the wall to the beach is the ideal al fresco dream. The sizes of portions are excellent but share if appetite is small or you have been over eating after three weeks in Western Cape!! I even shared the secret of what a real Affagato comprises much to their delight, the perfect ending to a meal.

A lovely restaurant at the Atlantic Ocean with fresh seafood and home-baked bread. It is small place and reservations are highly recommended. Bring warm clothing on windy days as the outdoor sitting area is covered by plastic screens that are not full proof keeping the wind out. A small gas heater brings the necessary corrections comfort.The service was excellent and fast. We didnt have to wait long for starters and the main course. They have an impressive wine list and craft beers on tap.The restaurant was featured in Country Life, a leading travel magazine in South Africa.

What a gem of a spot. Great food in an authentic little spot on the beach. The food is a little pricier but totally worth it.

On a lovely summer’s day very few places can better the view and atmosphere of the Gaaitjie restaurant. The name ‘Gaaitjie’ is the Afrikaans word for ‘little hole’ or ‘small place’ and refers to the restaurant’s placement there on the Paternoster beach squeezed in between a number of enormous flat grey rocks. Book a table to be safe, order a drink and then kick off your shoes and stroll onto the beach. Within a few meters you can walk on soft white sand and play in the cool Atlantic ocean. The menu has much to offer and we have enjoyed good food and prompt and friendly service when we were there during a very busy Saturday lunch time. The interior is smart yet informal. I loved everything about this restaurant.

What a pleasent surprise Jaco Krugers dishes turned out to be. Not only comparable to the best Cape Town has to offer, but many international restaurants too. The angelfish linguine and snoek starters were very good, the masala prawns a feast, but the seatrout was the star of the evening. The wait staff in Maddelyn and Phili are true assets. Paternoster can be proud of this establishment.

The fish was very delicious

We had the best time. We were 9 people at the table and decided to order a few different dishes to share. At the end we had almost ordered everything on the menu. Every dish was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome. I can recommend the angelfish and seared tuna. Although all the dishes were very tasty. Would definitely recommend this restaurant thats only meters from the beach.

This is a great restaurant - sit on the verandah and you have a view of the ocean as you eat amazing food and sip on good local wines. The bread is a highlight and the perfect way to start a perfect meal

This is a great restaurant. Excellent meals with first rate service and a very customer centric approach. A compact menu yet with enough choices. We visited two nights in a row and both were excellent. The mushroom linguine was superb as were all the other dishes we tried. Carpaccio and calamari really tip top!

Had coffee on a Sunday morning.... And was considering lunch although we had to drive to cpt from mykonos. Absolutely the worst waitresses. No smile no friendly Ness. The coffee was absolutely delicious and made up for the no tip angry faces.

Great setting and food, reserve in advance in season. The hake with batter is light, fluffy and flavourful, the baked cheesecake is delicious.

Good service, Dylan was a great host. The seared tuna was exceptional. The mushroom linguini was very tasty. The hake and potato wedges was ok, too much batter for my liking but nothing to complain about. It was just out shone by the other dishes

Hugely disappointing after being recommended to go. The service was haphazard and timing all over the place while our waitress didnt seem to know what anything was. We ordered a wine from a nice list but vintages werent shown so it was difficult to know what I would get. The wine I ordered was apparently out of stock despite the list being printed on plain paper, how simple is it to reprint if you run out? (Although I suspect they couldnt find it) Starters arrived after a couple of minutes but before we had received any wine, which finally arrived ten minutes later after ordering a different bottle without any assistance or apology. The starters were okay but it then took around 45 minutes for mains, which I could have cooked better at home. We lastly ordered one dessert that was nothing like how it was described. I should point out that the chef and front of house manager shown on the website were not to be seen which is possibly why, but a restaurant should be consistent whoever is doing the job and in this regard they must do a lot better, especially at the prices they charge.

Lovely ambiance!Mouth watering fish cake and carpaccio starters followed by delicious seared tuna with sesame crusted medallions of Monk fish in a Malay sauce. Desert of panacotta was the only let down of the evening. Must go back!!
