On The Rocks at Paternoster is a local gem wrt their fish and chips take aways freshley prepared. Worth every cent they chargr compared to inland options in Gauteng ☺

Also offers cold drinks. Follow up with a stroll on the beach, often with very few people, especially in late winter and early spring, before the crowds arrive for the holidays. Watch the locals come in with their small boats, heavy from the days catch.

Visited on a Monday when most restaurants are closedThis Take away or Eat in under the Lapa was OK to satisfy the hunger after a long drive. The Hake and chips was OK 🙄 2 baby hake fillets (soggy batter) because they piled the chips on top (definitely not freshly fried but probably leftover from the previous day and dunked into the oil again.

Best seafood ....(Fisher n Chips) with extra vinegar....delicious and handsome helping to.....a must for any traveller passing ...right on the beach so Beautiful..nice to migle with the locals hard working fellars but such a sence of humour the lingo is just another whole chapter......thank you Guys you really make our day every Time we have a break to visit ..!

The service was TERRIBLE! staff wanders around aimlessly and cant be bothered to even attempt to do an adequate job. We ordered,,waited an hour, got no food and had to cancel for a refund. The entire staff should be fired and this venue should be restarted with staff who value their jobs, take pride in their work and value customers above all.

Dec 2020, the fish and chips was only R55 but more than that, it was fresh, batter was crisp, chips were chunky and both were done with no hint of of old oil. Other items on the menu was burgers, Russians and sausages.Cant go wrong here with friendly staff and freshest food

Must be the most popular fish and chips joint in Paternoster for good reason. The price is so affordable and fish and chips really tasty and fresh. None of us were able to finish our meal just because it was such big portion.

On The Rocks in Paternoster is an absolute gem and winner! Friendly staff, the best fish in batter and crispy chips, all wrapped up in the good old traditional way in paper. And it was piping hot and the most incredible value for money. Dont miss this meal and please dont forget to ask to leave a tip for the staff, this container is under the counter and they (the staff) will be very grateful.

Loved the fish and chips, been there a few times, however today, 20 June, the fish had no taste, the dough very thick, raw and oily, hubby and myself spent a few hours in the bathroom, afterwards, not a nice experience today.

Salt and vinegar are separate, add it yourself. The hake is chunky and the chips are slap(soft).Its the way fish and chips were supposed to be made and eaten. Fish and Chips are LESS than half the price of the other restaurants. No need to be ripped off elsewhere.
