Had a breakfast reservation, and on arrival, our table inside was dirty and dusty. Our waitress was not very friendly. She also did not inform us of any menu items being unavailable when handing out the menus, and when eventually taking our order, it completely threw us off being told that they dont have what we wanted to order. My eggs benedict was supposed to come on a bed of rocket, and instead it came with normal lettuce, which got all soggy due to the heat from the rest of the dish. The full house breakfast came without mushrooms at first, and we had to remind our waitress that it is included. The only meal that was perfect, was the hot cake breakfast, which was also nicely presented on a plate. I am not sure whether this bad service we experienced was due to us visiting on a bad day, but I cannot see myself returning. Its a pity, as there are such beautiful views to enjoy at this location.

Excellent food and service. Amazing views

The food is mediocre at best. We ordered the prawns and the portion size is very small. For R260, 6 prawns is not enough. One of those prawns was burnt from the grill and inedible. Our food took 40 minute and we were 4 out of 10 people in the restaurant at the time. The menu that is online is not the menu at the restaurant. The menu is much smaller and doesnt have all the option. None of their champagne cocktails were available and only a few of the whiskey cocktails were available. We will not be returning.

Little gold nugget in the mountains. Anyone that loves spice route, you NEED to have a go at this. We didnt hit the pizza this round but after the grill house, we prob wont very soon as i wanr to go experience more of what the grill has to offer. The prices might at first seem a little up there but based on the portions and quality, it really isnt. I would suggest the following for 2 people:A bottle of Pinot Gris. R140A portion od bobotie springrolls. R90Rack of ribs, R300Then dont look back and enjoy. As a last mention, take the onoin rings, not the fries

I really enjoyed my time at the Grillroom, I got to enjoy a beautiful sunset, and then a lovely dinner afterwards. You really have to experience it to know the meaning of this truly unique and tranquilic place. I had great service from our waiter, Knowledge, and look forward to returning on our next visit to Wellington.

Excellent steakhouse, good menu of starters, mains, desserts and wine. Our partys fillet steak and lamb shank mains were excellent, and the rump steak and sirloin steak mains good but a bit too chewy. Deserts were excellent. During another visit we had a tasty wine tasting at the same venue. Relaxed atmosphere. Best views in Wellington. Expensive. Will visit again.

Their service has really worsened lately. The food was always fantastic and the service was always quick. Now the waiters take forever to serve you, the quality of the food is not that great and our dessert is always ruined by the chefs. They need to get their act together before they go out of business.

I dont knownwhars happening here but lately the food is just a mess. You can literally taste and see its left overs that were frozen for days. Especially vegetables. Calamari starter had smoke from the grilling and we could actually taste the smoke and she the ashy black residue.

I truly think it doesnt worth the price! The steak was nice but regular (asked for medium, got well done) nothing special. Both grass fed or grains fed taste the same for me at this place... Expensive. But with Good wines!

They are overpriced for the type of food they serve. Their food is mediocre and we paid R800 for 2 people for 2 x normal steak meals and a bottle of wine. Never ever paid close to R1000 on a dinner for 2 people night out. Its actually a ZERO rating from me. I did not enjoy my meal. I had left over steak and just sent it back. The wine estate attracts people to their accommodation and then their onsite restaurants is what you are restricted to.

WARNING : FOOD POISONING !!! We (4 adults) had dinner on 21 Dec - we all had steaks with different (cream) sauces and side dishes. In the night that followed, 3 of us all get suddenly very ill and spent more time in the bathroom than in bed. Terrible ! We expect that the cream sauces caused the problems, but it could have been anything really. The next day, I contacted the hotel to inform that there was something seriously wrong with the hygienic standards in their kitchen and to ask them to take responsibility and propose a compensation for the suffering we experienced.The reply I got was very disappointing : we received your allegations, send us the doctors report etc etc. Symptoms of food poisoning are easy to recognise and when 3 out of 4 diners have the same symptoms at the same moment, then the restaurant should have acknowledged the problem and act responsibly. They didnt....Thinking back of our dinner, an alarm bell should have gone off when I was waiting for my ice cream dessert : when it arrived, it was more like an ice cream soup then ice cream scoops. I asked the waiter what happened and he explained they had problems with the cooling system in the kitchen. I refused the dessert and it was sent back to the kitchen. I reported all this to the restaurant but they deny all responsibility. If this happened to us, it could happen to you as well, so : better to avoid then to regret. Unworthy of a place with a 4/5 star rating.

In our town this restaurant is well known to be expensive.They specialize in meat.We ordered grass fed beef (there is a choice of grain fed too).Then you choose dry aged or wet aged.Our waiter Kagiso explained the difference and this beautifully done by him.The food came and oh the disappointment.Your expectation is quite high and my wife’s chicken was not succulent,my steak was chewy and the preggo roll...bland.Afterwards we had the dessert with South African favorites on it.Malva pudding,milktart and ice cream.The malva pudding was dry and tasted like it was heated from a freezer, the ice cream was watery and the milk tart was old and dry.Never see me again here...

What an amazing venue. The food is great and the views and tranquility of the location make me look forward to going back.

What a lovely place to visit and the food was spectacular.Expensive but not quite unreasonable either and worth every penny.The view during the day is spectacular without being too hot even though its wide open.

Very slow service, terrible food especially considering the price, steak was overdone and tough, R480 for wagyu sirloin that was tasteless, 35min wait for deserts that were old and dry, their reserve wine was terrible. The only good thing is the view.The place is not worth at all and a proper fine dining restaurant will cost you less as well.

Amazing views and great service

The food was absolutely amazing! Steaks were made to perfection as per our request. The staff were very friendly and we were served well. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, dont expect to come for a quick meal. The lack of AC was also noted as it was quite hot. Nonetheless if you are looking for a great steak you will not be disappointed :)

Steaks were awesome. Brisket dry and unappetizing. The same sauce for everything.. cheeks, brisket, etc. Veggies below average. Calamari was top class. Service was good and views spectacular.

We went there for the Valentines dinner and it was absolutely wonderful. With live entertainment and amazing food, I would definitely visit again.

The Pizza Restaurant:What a shame since the views are lovely...Tried once three days ago and the pizza was served without sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts. We were charged full price and the excuse was “issues with the suppliers” and the manager explicitly said it’s “too expensive” to go to the shop and buy the ingredients.Today, they were out of feta cheese! And only started prepping their dough after 11am. We ordered at 11:45 (no mention that they are not ready to take pizza orders) and at 12:45 I had three hungry children and they just then started making our order. It was not busy. We had to leave otherwise we’d be waiting another 30-45min to feed my kids. Manager was MIA/“on his way back” the entire time. Leaving your restaurant at lunch hour is not quite top professionalism. He was interestingly not buying feta cheese when I asked, just “out.” No condolences or anything to snack on in the meantime to attempt to make up for their mismanagement at all.We paid for our drinks in cash and they had no money in the till to make change!The whole attitude we got both times was that of “So? It’s not my problem you want pizza/change/the ingredients on the menu.”I was in the industry for years overseas and was a GM in Cape Town, and I’m fine with second chances, but this place has unfortunately made it on my “never again” list.

Great food. Great venue. Specialty steak house with a wide variety of types of steaks. If you like your meat this is a must.

Went with such humble but high expectations just to be terribly dissappointed. The waiters were not very helpful, and only after we were given a looong time to decide what to eat, they only then indicated what was not available...e.g. fries, wagyu burgers, wagyu steak... We were so dissappointed, not worth the 500m dirt road drive to get here.

Used to be my favorite restaurant in Wellington. Had so many business lunches and suppers but that all came to an end now!Tonight i got the worst service ever!Firstly the waitress forgot to order my food.Secondly she orders the wrong cut of meat and then her colleague try to defend her explaining that the T-bone is actually a Rib eye.When I complained the waiter told me theyve got a big group outside and unfortunately only focused on that group.....really??Well youve lost a loyal client who introduced so many other clients who will now be informed about this horrible experience.

Great food with a view! Excellent service received from Chrisma! I have never been served by such a lovely, friendly and energetic waiter as Chrisma! I really felt as welcome as a guest in her own home when I was served by her! Val du Charon can be very proud of such an EXCELLENT waiter as her! Just as everbody decided what they would order the waiter came to inform us of alle items on the menu that was not available.As a result we had to reconsider because about everything we had in mind was out of stock. Just as we almost made up our minds, back was the waiter to inform us of some more items not available.My second choice T-bone was medium rare, just as I ordered, but who decided that I was not able to cut my own meat. Realy, a steak all sliced up? Never to old to see new strange things I suppose.The one star rating is for the view en a very friendly waiter.

We were a group of 11 . We booked 2 weeks in advance . When we arrived there were many items not available. It was blamed on Black Friday. The ice cream was runny and the excuse was a broken freezer . So lots of excuses and NO apologies and no manager in sight.

Absolutely excellent! My favoirite grill by far. We drive all the way from Kraaifontein just for your food and wines. Your steaks are amazing, your views are breathtaking and your servers are so friendly and helpful.Amazing wines too! Definately try the wine tasting.Thank you for an amazing experience every time.
