The place is well kept and you have the views of the mountains in the back. The staff is very helpful and they always a phone call away. The room didnt have water but after a phone call to the helpful staff I got it. The next day still had no water in the room...I guess if you need water always call

I would like to put cero stars. Before I book a Hotel, I always ask if breakfast is included and the answer from hotel was that is included. I went for breakfast and when I was leaving the breakfast area they said that I must pay the breakfast (Basic breakfast and crazy expensive). I talked with the waitress and explain that breakfast must be included and then he call someone on the phone and told me I should pay (I fell like someone was robbing me). My advise to anyone is go to another hotel there is always another options.

No water in the room. When asking reception for bottled water, they said drink tap water. No microwave to heat up food. TV quality was bad. It is just a place to sleep, get up and go.

Marriott needed to do something about their old carpets. The room i was in has a terrible bathroom. The shower water spill out of the bath out into the entire bathroom, the door is even rotting. Otherwise its a beautiful old place. Our stay was peaceful.

No Internet in the room. Ac works only on fan mode. Needs either freon/capacitor or outside unit repaired. No acknowledgement of elite status.The room is dated. Feels more that average motel in the US rather that 4star hotel.Other protea hotels I stayed in were fine

I took someone thre to visit a family member and only visited thre reception area were I used the bathroom. The place was in a nice setting, and had a bit of an upper market feel to it.

Staff were professional and friendly. Masks and sanitizer is available in the rooms. Grounds are well maintained and beautiful with a beautiful golf course 9n site . Meals are pricey though, better to eat out.

Absolutely incredible staff, very professional and welcoming, went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.

Had a room with a beautiful view of trees and mountains but wouldn’t stay here again. Tired room with a bit of a smell. There was intrusive mechanical notice coming form next door, weird plumbing or aircon (?) - it went on for around an hour. Couldn’t get hold of the night manager. Breakfast average and below.

The Protea hotel at George is in a stunning location. The rooms are quite unique, clustered around a grassy square with a lovely pool. The mountain backdrop and golf course views are wonderful. We found the restaurant staff exceptional and the food to be delicious. This hotel would be five star anywhere in the world

I was pleasantly surprise with the friendly staff and great service received at the King George Hotel. The rooms were large and very neat, the gardens were well maintained. Food is of a very high standard. special arrangements are made for guest of the Muslim faith. food is sourced from outside that prescribe to the Halaal trust. Food was very tasty and of a high quality.The hotel is located in a scenic environment. It is close to public transport and near to all amenities. The golf course is of world standard next to the hotel. The area is very safe for joggers and hikers. Nice paths for cyclimg is located at its doorstep.Its is very affordable and provides value for money.F khatieb

Very nice hotel in George. The surroundings are stunning and the rooms are of a very good size. We were there for a conference and it happened to be an excellent choice for the event. The staff was nice and so was the food. OK prices too. I would definitely like to come back one day.

Well appointed rooms. Crisp looking hotel and restaurant. Friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings. Service in restaurant was very very slow despite us being the only lunch patrons.

There are 3 things that Protea King George offer that makes any business person like myself feel at ease. Firstly you have dining facilities on site and do rooms service. You have the option to take a lunch box ( which I love - só yummy) and finally you offer free and secure parking.

This hotel peaked in 1997. Time to update. At the very least, have some warmer colour light in the rooms. Internet and decor are from the 1990s. Edit: I forgot to mention that the staff was outstanding.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms (I stayed in two different rooms on different occasions) were spacious and the beds luxurious and comfortable. I loved the layout which consists of single storey blocks as opposed to the usual multi-storey configuration. The meals were good and the staff friendly. I recommend it highly and would gladly stay there again.

Excellent room and excellent service. Weve never been disappointed yet. Super service every time. Very nice and tranquil location, far from the maddening crowd. Join the maddening crowd but when you want to sleep you need peace and tranquility.

This hotel not only has a great charm in terms of how the rooms are decorated, but the staff also greet one with great smiles and recognize your presence. Molly, Nelson and Kaylene stood out during my trip. There were others too, but I am sorry that I cannot recall their names - a bunch of beautiful people will take care of you when you are at this hotel.For vegetarians, the Vegetarian burger is the best that I have tried in America, Africa and Asia! You have to try it if you are in in the George area.

Very relaxed place

Brilliant so far but been here less than 12 hours. Time to reflect when we have been here longer.

Wasnt aware that accommodation is spread in blocks throughout the grounds as well as the main hotel which has the reception desk and dining room. It rained the 2 days we stayed so a wet walk to the main area. Our actual room was on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking one of the pools and grounds. It was a large bright room with comfortable bed, lighting and tea,coffee and a fridge. The main issue was the bathroom. It was a good size with a roof light but no extractor fan only a grill. While this made the room bright condensation was a huge issue with the ceiling above the separate shower damp with mould and water dripping from the roof light. There was a damp smell that permeated into the wardrobe. Such a shame as the hotel was clean and they had updated it sympathetically from an old property. Staff were friendly. Access is through a manned barrier/gate with car parking spread through the grounds.

Liked it but it needs a bit of a facelift. The rooms deco is a bit old fashioned. I have seen much better rooms. Protea Hotel needs to add muffins to their breakfast menu. That has always puzzled me.Bottom line is that this hotel could be better

Protea King George at George offers a rustic appearance with beautiful views overlooking the Outeniqua mountains. The staff were very warm and friendly and offered us a good welcome and were very attentive to our needs. Despite the presence of the large group of visitors from overseas, the hotel with its magnificent open space still offered one the opportunity of feeling like this is an ideal place for holiday.Given the opportunity to stay in of the rooms with large balconies overlooking the mountains, it just makes our stay so perfect. the weather was very favorably with temperatures neither hot or cold.the hotel is within reasonable driving distances to the beaches.

Rather dated hotel that is in need of some freshening up. However, rooms were clean and large. I would highly recommend requesting for a room away from the security entrance as it was quite noisy throughout the night. Also, do check your bookings clearly as we were unaware that breakfast was not included and we were charged upon check out. Some heads up at the breakfast reception would have been appreciated. Very disappointing for a Marriott property

A beautiful collection of rooms to stay in. With conference facilities and secure parking for able bodies and those in wheelchairs. The rooms are big and the linen is fresh and clean. The rooms have safes and built-in cupboards. There are TVs and aircon in the rooms. Unfortunately my room didnt have a bath in. The premise is guarded and very safe. The breakfast is delicious and they have a very good menu for dinner and lunch.

Lovely hotel complex with beautiful lodges surrounded by sweet gardens, swimming pools, and the Outeniqua Mountains, behind which the sun rises and sets.Many of the cosy terraces face the swimming pool and the mountains.The main building is also beautiful and the cranberry juice served at the arrival is a refreshing addition.The rooms include kettle, coffee, tea, and several amenities.As for the meals, the cook that prepares the omelets, scrambled eggs, and fried eggs during breakfast is excellent.However, I wish that there would be a bigger choice of food for breakfast and dinner in the buffet.

We recently stayed at Protea Hotel King George. The friendly staff made our stay a pleasant and unforgettable experience. We were treated like royalty. Friendly and accomodating staff. Family orientated. Clean neat rooms. Apartments overlooking the pool area are best.

If you are going to need any items from the convenience stores, ensure that you have everything with you before you go back to the hotel...It is secluded within a residential area where it seems like there is almost little if no fun at all. There is a nearby garage though but I did not feel like driving after parking and offloading my luggage.

My 3rd stay here and I simply love the hotel location and the services offered. The security for was a big plus point. Staff are friendly and always willing to help.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We stayed in room 509 which was huge with a big balcony overlooking the golf course and mountains. The room was clean and well appointed with very comfortable beds and high quality bedding. The staff were marvellous and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. We will definitely return to this hotel.

We had a great stay at the Protea King Goerge it was pleasant quiet well situated. I like the friendly staff. The whole property is neat and tidy. A bit away from the town.

I have only been there for meals and meetings but the place seems good. The staff seem really friendly as well. The parts of the place I have seen are in excellent condition and well maintained so I am sure the rooms are excellent.

The rooms were spacious and modern. Room service personnel friendly and efficient and the restaurant serves tasty food in a timely manner. Very impressed and will bookmark hotel for future stay

The hotel has amazing staff - very friendly and helpful. Food is good at the breakfast buffet and for supper.Rooms feel a little tired but ok and very clean and tidy.Grounds are beautiful with bunnies running around the car park - very cute.

The service was great and the people really helpful and accommodating since we really had a huge problem with our booking. When we got to our room it was really in terrible condition. It looked worn and old. The supposedly double bed was tiny and in general it just seems that the hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. In the end we opt to rather find someplace else to stay.

The hotel is built behind a beautiful mountainous landscape. The hotel rooms are outside separate from the reception and lobby. The hotel is safe and secure with 24/7 security by the boom gate.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpfull and they go out of their way to make your experience special. The rooms were spacious and clean and had everything we could possibly need(aircon,fridge,safe,etc). Loved the additional cookies at the coffee station in the room. The surrounding mountains are beautiful. The food was superb. We stayed for 2nights and would most definitely return. Keep it up.

On our arrival we were greeted and accomodated with friendly staff. We celebrated our 34th anniverary here and was surprised at breakfast with balloons, champagne and cake. We also received a lovely snack platter in the room. The restaurant with buffet as well as a la carte is fantastic! The bar area is nice and drinks can be enjoyed on the veranda with scenic views of the golf course and the mountains. The staff are friendly and very accomodating and attend to all your needs promptly. The gardens and swimming pools are well maintained and is a pleasure spending the day at the hotel lazing around the pool areas. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Booked in on Sunday but had the most wonderful evening and amazing staff especially Theo. It was a GOD send for us to have met him what an amazing guy always going the extra mile and listening attentively to his guests, he is very special!
