The staff is the friendliest and most helpful people when you need help. Overall their service is outstanding. Rooms clean and spacious. I will stay there again. Its a 3 star with 5 star service. Thanks again for your support, guests are important to you.

A lovely clean place in the heart of George. 50 rooms with great amenities, secure parking and friendly, helpful staff. Only qualms were that aircon didnt seem to work iñ room 102 and restaurant staff were not too helpful in explaining how things work in there, if you not adventurous you may as well starve to death with a paid up meal tab. I highly recommend the place though.

Always my first choice when staying in George for business. Centrally located and the staff are amazing! Went on site, came back, my sneakers were covered in mud. Went out on-site the next day wearing different shoes, upon my return my shoes were like new, it was such a nice surprise and gesture❤️

My recent stay at this hotel was for a business trip. The hotel is centrally located in town and generally easy to find. I did find that the name listed on Google Maps still refers to Protea Hotel which from what I understand was the previous owners.  The front desk staff was very friendly and made check-in a breeze. A wifi voucher is offered for which allows for multiple device logins however is limited for which you would have to request another voucher once the data is deleted.  My room was neat and clean and included a very comfortable bed, desk area and coffee making facilities. I was disappointed that it did not have a small minibar fridge. The bathroom was slightly dated but clean although I am not a big fan of shower/bath combinations. I find that the screen mounted on the bath to keep water from falling on the floor does not truly work properly. Breakfast was good and offered a decent variety of products which was well prepared and tasted good. A great positive was that a fully fitted gym was available at a sister site down the road which was great if you dont mind driving a few minutes. It is a fairly decent hotel that is well priced and served all the basic requirements for my short stay. As always,  this is just my opinion.

I have been there alot and its home away from home,

No longer part of the Protea Hotel chain, so you cant use the Protea point card. Staff at the hotel were welcoming and accommodating. Rooms are small, but clean and functional. Overall, its an affordable and lovely place to stay.

I stayed 5 nights. Staff was ok. Room was clean but requires renovation. Breakfast was ok. The location is good. The fat fish restaurant across the street was excellent.

The price and location plus staff is exceptional. Were en route to Cape Town and Protea Outeniquas location and pricing is just perfect. I will definitely recommend thus establishment for travellers. Their staff is super nice and very accommodating.

Lovely staff. They always greet you with a smile. Helpful with informing you what you should tour around the area.The place is good, neat and clean. Wish it had a swimming pool though. Stayed here over christmas and a few times before , most of the restaurants are closed making it hard to dine out but the restaurant was so accommodating by creating a christmas dinner for its guests. Breakfast Is delicious.

I was very disappointed with this Protea Hotel. Rome was expensive and not clean. Aircon was not working. Towels not clean and dont smell nice. Front desk was effecient and friendly.

We stayed for 1 night , checking in 8th August 20 out 9th August 20. Your hotel is cold and old and in need of total make over. Give room 104 a miss because it reminds me of dark place until you put the lights on. 1) the extractor fan in the bathroom needed a bearing replacement, sounded like someone scratching there nails on black board 2) the basin needs replacing and proper sealing job,even i could do better. 3) your shower curtain is so 1970s and in fact i would close that room down and start with your makeover there. 4) The worst part is yet to come, we paid R1550 including breakfast ,through booking.com, which we wont even go there as we did stay during covid 19. The price we.paid for that room was shocking as we were told by lady on duty if we had phoned the hotel we could have paid R800 , which is fair value for what we got. 5)We have stayed at Port Elizabeth and Knysna mariot hotels and this is by far the worst of the three. 6) You try to support businesses during this time but in turn you get ripped off., I wont stay or recommend this hotel to anyone. 👎👎

Warm and exceptional welcome

The protea hotel in George provide a high level of service. The rates are good and breakfast is always a plus. I like coming here for work because when I return to my room after a long day of work. I am welcomed to a clean refreshed room. That a big plus in my book. The place is very well decorated and excellent living conditions.

Been a great experience until my 17th stay, when my phone charger was stolen in my room. Both the Cleaner (who was the only person in my room according to the footage) and the Housekeeper Supervisor were adamant that there was no charger, so I was the one lying. I left the hotel without it. All the other stays I never experienced any problem. Staff members are very friendly. I wont let my one bad experience stop me from staying there again.

Fine for a 3 star. Very friendly and helpful staff, secure parking at R40 an evening. Breakfast cost extra, no lunch and dinner, but the dining area is available to use. Lots of restaurants close by.

Great staff. Fast WiFi - finally! Nice beds. Room is on the small side and bathrooms are old but functional. Still great value.

Quite nice....even though we only slept over one night...staff very friendly but the ambiance is tranquil..loved it.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They will do whatever they can to Make things more convenient for you. The entire hotel is clean with lovely decor. It is situated in close proximity to a variety of restaurants and on the Go George route. The breakfast is a medium variety, but the food is sinfully deliciousI had two faults with the place. The room walls are a bit too thin and Im not a fan of the bath/shower.I would definitely return to this hotel.

My first comment (to myself) was a WOW! I could see why my employer, who is a Judge would prefer this hotel. I think the person who would not like this hotel and the service it offers is still to be born. Guests are literally treated like kings! A visit to this one is a must.

Awesome experience! Rooms neat and tidy with fresh air filling the room, personal card to welcome me from JJ and team. Radio on when entering the room took away the lonely feeling. Most friendly staff ever at reception. A real Wow experience

Wow I feel like I am home. Really this is home away from home. Everyone is friendly in there. It is really a lovely place.

Iam going to George (twice a year)for the past thirteen years mostly work related. Protea Marriott George is my first choice. Its in York street which is the main road leading into the city. Everything is nearby like the banks and restaurants. The rooms are big and clean with everything you need to make you stay comfortable as possible.

Friendly staff, Donaine and Alfred made our stay the best ever. Alfred made me the best cappuccino, which I was tempted to ask for it every day.The hotels refund process is quite cumbersome. They couldnt give me my money immediately. They can go and learn from Builders Warehouse. No accounts department is needed....

Noise from the corridor of other guests at 6 in the morning broke my sleep. Linen was too crispy, made noise if u shifted in your sleep. Otherwise staff are very friendly and helpful.

A pleasant place to stay with convivial and inviting staff. I love the old-town appeal it embodies and that can only be helped by the small theatre next door. The rooms cerainly provide that reliable Protea standard with good bedding and amenities. Supper is not offered in-house but patrons are referred to the eateries across the road.

This hotel definitely needs to be updated, the rooms are quite old and still have shower curtains that tend to chase you around the small shower. They tend to mop the floor everyday, which would be great if there wasnt zero airflow and the floor didnt just stay wet forever. The free WiFi is limited to 500mb per day. Youll also need to pay extra for secure parking if you want it, otherwise you have to use public parking.

So im a guy that travels for work alot and stay in many hotels. But im a bit two minded about this one. The staff was very friendly with book in and book out. When we got there we were not displayed on the system, but u think that was more the works late booking than anything ells, but the staff made a plan. Breakfast was good, rooms clean and tidy. Was just a bit put of with the bathrooms. Yes they were clean and tidy but ai, it seems that it was renovated in a hurry. Painting tiles?? no man... Parking is another issue. Non the less, still a fan of Protea hotels.

Hotel very dirty, floors in the entire hotel including the eating area sticky. Dust for days under beds. Mould in bathrooms. R25 for small can of coke a Rio off. Would NOT recommend at all

Worst hotel ever!!! Guests were making noise all night, banging on doors and disturbing my sleep! Never going back there... felt like I was in a hostel not a hotel. Felt very unsafe. Wish the hotel could monitor the guests. I called twice to complain about the noise and nothing was done!!!

Real breathtaking horribleness. Book in at 5 in the morning. Ask for quier room. Wamts to sleep till 9 to go on. At 7 noises, people. flippen housekeeping and more. Bad athmosphere. Worst non trained staff for help or assistance. Manager on duty laught it off, ill give it over to the GM. This was not the R700.00 worth to sleep for 2 hours. Unfortunately my stay experience will not stop here. Could have resolved it so differently. Suppose the star I must give you to post, not worth it.

Staff was friendly and the rooms werent terrible, but the Internet was slow as hell and charged at 100ZAR per 250MB. This is absolutely ludicrous in 2018.Also, they advertise free parking, but what they mean is theres a public parking in front of them. The private parking, theyll charge you 40ZAR for.

A catalogue of failures is how we’d describe this hotel.The room was very tired ( though the bed was new and good), the bathroom scruffy with mouldy grouting and even the room walls had plaster blistering off.The Wi-fi was appalling slow, dropped out at 11pm when we had a screen that told us to buy more allowance. Later we were told this was free but by then it was too late.The paid for car park is reached by a gravel and slab path that makes wheeled luggage impossible to use! It’s a long path to carry heavy bags. So why charge if the luggage is an issue.The inconsistencies continue with signs in the room saying breakfast is until 10, but the staff insist it’s until 9.30.As for food quality. It was so bad we complained and were fully reimbursed. Even the management had problems justifying the quality of fruit offered. And the overcooked congealing cooked food was so unappealing we refused to eat it.No doubt management will ask us to try them again but we gave them a chance and our complaints didn’t seem to impact at all.Never again.
