Everything you would want in a vineyard picnic!Amazing views, a river, trees, vineyards and absolute bliss! The walk down to the picnic just sets the mood!The food was okay exceptional! Our compliments to the chef!The picnic basket came complete with a blanket, cushions and all cutlery and glassware one would need! We left relaxed and happy!

Holden Manz Manor house has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and is a quiet and peaceful place to relax and recharge. The fireplace in the room ensures a cozy atmosphere and the shower is great. The Bergrivier flowing is tranquil and offers a soothing sound to your soul. Breakfasts are awesome.

Very average wine and way over-priced. Dont waste your time here unless you are forced to as part of a tram experience. Too mainstream obvs.

I personally dont know the place havent stayed there. But what I can tell you all is that their massages are done amazingly... I know cause Im the therapist☺️ so 5star for the spa

Went there for their picnic. I had booked the picnic basket days in advance. On arrival, there was only the manager handling everything, the wine tasting, the restaurant orders, the picnics etc. No trace of my bookings, so they couldnt give me the picnic basket. I purchased a cheese platter instead.The picnic area is really beautiful, quiet, between mountain, river and vineyards.I am just very disappointed in the level of service, be it for the booking or the fact that the only staff was overwhelmed and not friendly. For the price you pay, service should be better.

One of the most beautiful wine estates in Franschhoek with outstanding wine and Service. If you are in Franschhoek, make sure to pop past or youll miss a gem.

We hosted our wedding at Holden Manz this January. It was a wonderful day and the team at Holden did a great job making it all happen. Especially Tammi, the venues event planner went above and beyond. The location is just beautiful and very versatile. The food was delicious and all staff was very friendly. I can only recommend this place.

One of the best wines tastings I have done

I took the Franschhoek wine tram and visited various estates I loved the food, particularly the Wagyu burger 🍔 it was absolutely delicious

We came for lunch and had the most pleasant wine tasting with Prize. She is a wine enthusiast and we loved her expertise and knowledge.The farm has excellent quality wine. We bought mostly red, and were so impressed by the Big G, and the Merlot Reserve 2015. We will definitely come back !

We came for a wine tasting and ordered a little snack. Exceptional quality wines, the man that served us was new but his knowledge was outstanding. He took great care of us. The little croquettes we ordered were beautiful as well.

Excellent place to stay over, wine tasting , really good red wines

Off the beaten track, unassuming appearing estate compared to some of the well-known ones in the region, but their red wines are exceptional. Particularly enjoyed the 2015 Merlot Reserve, 2015 proprietors blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and the 2015 Bordeaux blend Big G. Fairly expensive. Recommended for a tasting.

If quality matters – this is the place. A beautiful garden, great wines and a fantastic restaurant. We have been there two times, first with the wine tram tour and some days later to experience a wonderful time in the restaurant. You may get cheaper wines on the tram tour, but no better for the same price. The people we met there did everything the right way, we were not forced to buy anything and all the time we needed to decide were given to us. The restaurant is a real gem. Fresh ideas and fresh ingredients. Sitting on the balcony, overlooking the vineyard while have an excellent meal, is an additional bonus. We will be back as soon as possible.

Not recommended!!Ordered the most expensive wine tasting and was served the wine when I had already finished my cheese platter. At the end I had to pay in a rush because the wine tram was leaving and I later discovered they had charged me for items I didn’t take (gold tasting and rose glass). Looking at other reviews I’m not the first one so do yourself a favor and don’t go there.Ah, the scenery was beautiful... 😁🤙🏿

We spend two days and one night @Holden Manz and we extremely satisfied with the surroundings, our room, the restaurant, the wines and especially the indeed very friendly service we received.Also, we took the wine tram to attend several wine tastings and we came to our conclusion that we liked the Holden Manz wines the most. Thats why we ordered several bottles after being home in Germany.Thanks for a tremendous stay and the love you give!

Great service and tasty food in an upscale setting (upstairs). Daily specials are typically available downstairs with the wine tasting options, but the staff allowed us to dine in a mixture of the restaurant menu and the specials from the lounge, in addition to sharing a wine tasting which was all quite lovely.

What a gem. We stayed at the Holden Manz Country House, and ate at the restaurant and did the wine tasting. The staff were fantastic, personable and knowledgeable. The facilities also very nice and especially the Country House was designed with a great eye and attention to detail. Our new home in the Winelands.

Absolutely fantastic place to be. In the heart of Franschoek and the scenery is beautiful. Was there for an event and was blown away with the service and great food. Wine tours are available and well worth it. Did I mention how good the wine is?

This was by far the worst place we visited as part of our Wine Tram tasting afternoon. Its significantly more expensive than the others (all of which were great), the service was extremely rude and our waitress didnt get our wines to us by the time we needed to leave, then refused us a discount. Every other place was far more professional and we bought bottles of wine from a number of them; avoid Holden Manz at all costs

Fantastic mother day venue. Great service, awesome view of the vineyard and mountains.The estate wine is unfortunately best forgotten. Food was flavourful and well presented, but the portions were extremely small and so expensive for what was offered, it is difficult to reconcile the complete experience with the price charged.

A true haven within the winelands surrounding Franschhoek. A tranquil refuge with spacious, comfortable rooms and excellent and attentive service. Very good breakfast and afternoon tea as well.Marius and Brandon were extremely helpful and accommodating.We will definitely return and stay longer than the 4 nights we are here for this time around.Also, the estate wines are absolutely amazing and so is the food at the restaurant!Thank you very much for an all around wonderful experience!

Owner sitting there but has lost touch. Cheese platter took very long as did the oysters. Ask and ask to remind and spped up the process. Waiter did not know much. Think they need a better hands on manager to take ownership.Numerous tables muttering complaints. The building and bathrooms need maintenance which explains alot as to the running of the place. But the best cheese platter I have had as well as the price. Wine is average.

We loved this place! The Setting is beautiful and peaceful and overall its a small enough environment to be intimate. We had lunch and the food was fantastic. Stunning presentation, great flavour combinations and good quality ingredients. The service was good too. The Good Sport dessert wine is delicious and we bought a couple of bottles to take home with us. A great day out in Franschoek and we will definitely return.

We drove all the way, only to be told that we cant even view the picnic spot. The owners/managers dont allow it. We have to call. How are we meant to call about something they wont let us see?

Michelle and Jess were absolutely amazing hostesses. Great wines, great value and leaving with a massive smile pasted on our faces. Unfortunately our suit case we brought for the wine is way too small to fit our 18 bottles... damn!

Great wine tasting experience. We got the rose to start with and the service was very friendly. We loved the Chardonnay- probably one of the best in the region- and the BIG G.The setting is also super nice and relaxed.

As part of the wine tour, we went to Holden Manz. The place has good views. They also have a large green area with a water body near the restaurant for the kids to play. The tasting was good and the server was kind enough to change our wines as part of tasting as we prefer white over red wines. We also had the cheese platter which had good variety and was good.

Nice wine, but seriously over-priced tastings. Not sure why they believe they can keep you coming back when the surrounding farms are just as good or even better

Lovely Sunday lunch, Im vegan so I had the polenta with veggies and it was beautiful! We enjoyed the Mellow 2013 with our mains and it complemented it perfectly. Service was good, friendly waiter with a great view.

Stunning scenery however complete lack of attention during wine tasting. Wines were not explained. White wines served warm and left waiting for wines.

I booked a picnic only to find out on the day that it was not prepared or well thought of. I was told by a restaurant staff member to expect a call from him to confirm the booking and the weather in the morning. I didnt receive a call as promised. When I called just before 12, they told me I should have confirmed with them and that my picnic wont be available and Ill have to wait. I subsequently cancelled.To be honest, the bad weather also contributed to my decision to cancel the picnic.

Lovely wine tasting area. Beautiful scenery. There are 3 wine tasting options to choose from (at time of writing - 25 April 2018). I love that you can see into the cellar and view the barrel storage area. Highly recommend the shiraz and the chenin blanc 😊

We did a picnic at Holden Manz. Wine and food was delicious, the picnic spot ok but not very romantic. Just when we finsihed food the watering at the picnic spot went on and we had to run not to get wet. We complaint about this at the waiter but he was just laughing. No excuse, no offering of a Espresso or similar as apologize. So poor service.

This wine estate has terrible staff in their management team. We arranged for a taxi service, the receptionist deceived me saying the service costs 350 Rand. However, when we had to pay the bill, the management staff insisted that we have to pay 350 for one way. This rude and deceiving treatment of guests is unacceptable. I recommend anyone to avoid this place and rather go to the La Petit Ferme, which has a better view, much friendlier staff and better wine.

Very bad! Expensive standards, food was very poor. Came with a group of friends about 25+ had to send half the meals back. Risotto was very plain and powdery. One of our friends received fish that had the aftertaste of diesel and sand granules in the meal.. would not recommend food was extremely poor and management was not great.

The Hubby and I enjoyed a wonderful picnic at Holden Manz on the 9th of August this year... Although it was their first picnic of the season, we were treated like royalty. The restaurant manager, Jordan, was very friendly and helpful - he even included a bottle of wine (choice of white or red), even though it wasnt expected or listed as part of the picnic basket - this generosity really surprised us! Some of the tummy-fillers awaiting us were: Freshly baked Mosbolletjies, Dalewood Languedoc Fromage, Pigs Charcuterie, Biltong, Smoked Snoek Pate, Chickpea, Peppadew & Parsley Salad, Roasted Sweet Potato, Caramelised Butternut & Feta Salad, Marinated Olives, Bobotie Pies, Smoked Salmon Trout & Dill Crème Fraiche Pancakes. For dessert there was: Fresh Grapes & Strawberries, Triple Chocolate Brownie & Coffee Caramel Parfait Jar and Milk Tart Spring Rolls... It was all delectable and I would recommend this experience to anyone, especially if youre doing it as part of the Franschhoek Wine Tram excursion!

Terrible place.Arrived to dark reception. Electricity went out. Owner was unapologetic.How do you get a gin and tonic so wrong;useless maitr d bought 5 of them and wed asked for 3 a beer and a red wine. The gin was overwhelmed in tonic.Ordered and waited and waited. It wasnt full by any means so that cant be used as an excuse. The table next to us got served before us.Excuses were then tripped out.A manager arrived and she just rolled out the most awful justification.I ordered Kingklip it was undercooked when it did arrive. We wanted another bottle of a white sauvignon we had enjoyed and they were out of sauvignon.WHAT !!!Paid the full ammount despite going home hungry. not one of the 5 of us had eaten our meal. No proper apology. No apology at all. It seemed to be run by amateurs.I was married at The Steenberg 4 days before what a difference. It was as if we were in a different country.Feb 2016

We were here for a picnic about a year ago. We liked that very much - good food, nice places to relax and good wine. Now we were here again for the wine tasting ... and unfortunately also for the last time: service totally overwhelmed, uncomfortable seating (especially in the shade) and the food (harvest platter) bad and overpriced. Unfortunately not a positive experience and there are definitely better wineries in and around Franschhoek! The wine was ok, but the one star. Better go elsewhere for a great wine experience ...

We have made the wine tram in Franschhoek and this winery can be safely omitted. According to voucher we could have tasted 5 wines and in the end it was only 3. In addition there is a bad and inattentive service
