Fantastic food and friendly staff in an authentic dutch styled windmill.

Food was overpriced. Been here a few years ago, and brought friends, as the pancakes were large and delicious. Now theyre regular and a bit mediocre. Service was fine, but we didnt receive a tray with salt/pepper/Sauces with, we had to request. The look is a bit dated, but at least themed. Would be nicer if the music was too.

The food is overpriced for the quality provided. Everything is a bit outdated. I would recommend places nearby for a better breakfast. I give 2 stars for the nice ambient on the windmill style restaurant.

Amazing view great staff delicious food and overall amazing place.

A trip up to this quaint little windmill restaurant is always a delightful experience. It’s a nice cosy spot for a breakfast gathering. You can’t go wrong with their pancakes, just be warned the portions are huge! The croquettes are also delicious. Pop downstairs and grab a few baked goods to go while you’re at it.

No longer the Dutch bakery that we were accustomed to with a very general assortment of cakes, pies, etc. Went there for oliebollen and appelflappen. A bit pricey but nice

We went there for lunch and ordered pancakes. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is cosy, nice and quiet. We did not mind waiting long for our food as it gave us enough time to spend with our friends. I would not recommend their pancakes because they were too brown for our liking. They have other food as well on the menu which I cannot comment on.

Always a good experience at this restaurant. Good food, and excellent coffee.I especially enjoy the Farmer’s pancake. They have friendly, helpful staff. Eating inside the windmill or on the deck surrounding it is a unique and memorable experience.A stop at their bakery below is also a must.

Love the bakery, love the pancakes, good coffee too. A bit pricey but worth it! The petit fours have not changed in 30 year and bring back great childhood memories!

Ambience was great. Asked for crispy bacon but it was charred and eggs were dry. Pancakes were fabulous though. Would go back again just order normal eggs and bacon

This was a sweet little place to eat lunch. Its not amazing food but it does the job. We had a chicken mayo toastie which was solid, and a bacon and Dutch apple pancake which was very interesting and quite good. Its cute and quaint - inside a windmill. And its above a bakery. Good, friendly service and decent prices.

Awesome little restaurant and bakery in the heart of Edenvale. The bakery serves the most incredible baked goods. If you feel like eating out you can seat yourself on the balcony upstairs and enjoy a delicious breakfast and coffee.Would highly recommend.

Been going here for all my life - thats like 30 years - and the same amazing standard of high quality tasty treats remains the same! The best pies in S.A. and the sweet yummies... Well, lets just say this place has been a family favourite for years, it still is, and will stay unless something super drastic changes :)

This is one of my favorite places to go. Excellent service with friendly staff, great coffee and fantastic food! The building being an old windmill really sets a great mood aswell.

Good Dutch cuisine

Love this place, staff always cheerful and fresh product from the Netherlands and home baking as well. They celebrate Sinterklaas every year near the 5th of December where the Dutch Santa Claus comes and hands out their presents for being good. Lots of authentic Netherlands treats in store, especially the traditional Dutch Chocolate letters, Pepernoten, Ontbijdbrood and the most delicious Krokette and liquorice available. The music is always the old classics. My family has been going for about 7 years if not more, since I was born in Amsterdam, I am trying to share some little bit of the tradition and culture with my family. Expect to see me and my family there again this year.

This place holds some nostalgia for me and my partner. Love the sweet treats but service could be better. 15mins for coffee... 45 for food and and another 45 mins waiting for the bill.

I hate it when stores place a restriction on card use. Either take the card or dont . Its just embarrassing to tell me when I get to the cashier that you dont take below a certain amount

Took 45 minutes to finally get our very simple order of 2 items. We eventually paid and said we needed to leave urgently but we still had to wait 10 minutes for 1 small pie and an eclair. Terrible service

I always enjoy the food produced at this bakery. Whether its grabbing a seat inside the windmill or going past just to pick up a pie or four, the quality never disappoints.

Sometimes going to a restaurant is about the experience . This place has a unique flair to it and is very pleasant . The food is not amazing but good. Service is friendly, definitely worth a visit.

What makes De Molen so fascinating to visit is the fact that the windmill attached to the restaurant (and bakery downstairs) is an actual ¾ size replica of the Zeldenrust Molen in Groningen, Holland.The restaurant features typical Dutch décor which adds to the overall homely atmosphere, employees are consistently welcoming, and traditional Dutch meals from their delectable Menu are served to perfection. This is another one of those gems which is always a pleasure to visit!

A most welcoming and pleasant place for breakfast and lunch

A perfect reconstruction of the Dutch windmill Zeldenrus. A great De Bakkerei has been serving the public for probably more than 50 years. Inside the windmill is De Molen. A coffee shop serving typical Dutch meals like the Uitsmyter and those lovely little pancake balls poffertjes. Go there. Its a treat. And take home lots of bread, including a great rye, and Dutch delicacies.

Greatest place for relaxing and enjoying a great meal very relaxing and services is good and friendly.
