Food was tops, staff friendly and accommodating.

This places made me feel warm and special. Sitting next to a grandmother who is also the owner of the restaurant, watching her lovingly feed her grandchildren makes you realize the importance of a family run business. The food was nothing short of Italian splendor. I highly recommend the butternut ravioli. Friendly service and authentic high quality meals is what you will get here.

I love the roadside dining.. Feels so European.. Beautiful park across the busy street... Friendly excellent service, good prices, good quality food.. A favorite spot.. Along with Charlies which shares the premises during the day... 😍

Really miss the Old Spiga on Florida Rd, that was my spot..... but it was great being back in Durban at Spiga and seeing Marco and the crew... Food and vibe still great....Keep it up Marco.

Spiga to me is about being out and social. Unfortunately the food is secondary and evident in taste too. I would honestly prefer, and recommend, all their veg options as the chicken is bland, and you can taste it is cooked separately from the meals and just added at the end. Great for a light bite and catching up with friends. Parking is a mission at times, though the side road from the park is a good option if there is no parking on Innes Road.

One of the best Italian restaurants in town - so happy theyre back after a short time while they found a new spot. Ive followed them since they were at the bottom of Field Street in the early 1980s. Service was spot on, we 4 all chose different pastas which were supreme. Every plate/dish was finished - no doggy bags , food was too tasty 😋 😀 will deffo be back soon - Than-Q so much for a delightful Sunday lunch 😋 😀

This is my new favorite spot. It has a cozy ambiance, friendly staff, great cocktails and amazing food. Ive been here twice and I hate how I have such a good time that I forget to take pics... I dont even talk whilst eating, thats how delicious the food is.Id recommend this place for a catch up with friends, date night or even the informal meeting.

Food was excellent, prices a bit on the high side but well worth the experience.

Food is truly amazing. Ive been eating a the retro roll for the past 20+ years and it is still perfect. Personally Ive never been and will never be there if this is not on the menu. This place was in Game City (now City View) and I was a little boy and enjoyed the roll. Best roll ever, definitely worth the trip.Its not on the menu though, so you need to ask your waiter for it. You wont go wrong!

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Loved the murals and the staff were pleasant. Really enjoyed the started platter. The pizza was decent and the salad was a lot better then most (the eggplant is amazing). The drinks menu (wine and spirits) could use a little work. Overall I really enjoyed the visit.

I’m saddened at having to write this review.Literally one of my favorite restaurants has sadly let me down.Having traveled extensively in Europe I’ve had some DELICIOUS bruschettas. So going to an Italian restaurant you’d expect top quality.The bread was so stale, a tasteless thin slice of Parma ham and a sad excuse slither of mozzarella cheese, R100 for 4 pieces 😕 .I’ll literally NEVER order that again!Kind of sad & embarrassing

Usually 5 star. @ My last visit I was utterly disappointed.. Usual order is a Linguine de Casa with cream. Same divine taste. But the usual 5 prawns were smaller than usual with 2 of 5 shrimp sized. Accepted the Portion downsize when they relocated.. used to be big enough to share between 2 small eaters. We used to order a full portion with 3 extra prawns.

Great meal. Would definitely go back. Only had veg food. I was most impressed that I swapped olives for avo for no additional cost on my pizza. It was amazing

Simply the best variety of pasta dishes to choose from.Superbly tasty. Also a selection of decadantly layered pizzas.in splashes of colour. Spiga is well situated opposite Botanic gardens and boasts an atmosphere of chilled sophistication and fine dining. Excellent service and fair prices. Best authentic meal in awhile. Verandah dining offers plenty of space for that early evening nibble with a great glass of wine. You have to try it

Vibrant environment with a trendy, mixed crowd. Service could have been better. Pasta was average. The squid was cooked very well though. Had a very nice bottle of Merlot as well. Will have their pizza next time and add to this review.

Food is great however no sanitizers on tables, no covid protocols worse is no social distancing. Charging r10 for hot water-like really? Felt very uncomfortable when we saw a movie crew shooting a movie scene. We were not informed of this and felt as though we should have at least been informed cause privacy matters.

Was a great experience. Went there for my birthday with my family and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I asked if they could change the type of pasta that was on the menu and they has no issues doing so. By far the most impressive part was the speed that the food was brought out. Within one hour: we ordered starters, eaten starters, ordered mains and had our mains delivered. Outstanding! The amount of food they give, compared to other restaurants, is so much, very pleased. Our waitress was nice and easily remembered all our orders.10/10 would recommend.

Food is great but restaurant is busy. Quality is of a high standard and so is the price. A lot more could be done to contain the number of customers and ensure social distancing is practiced. Situated opposite Mitchell Park gives this restaurant a lovely setting and atmosphere that is different from many restaurants in Florida Road. Worth a visit. Be ready to wait in a queue unless you make a reservation!

Every selection on the menu is out the top drawer , only one complaint is the chairs if you are a person with a fuller figure , they are too small and uncomfortable

Unfortunate start with a cold focaccia, returned NC! On to the mains, pasta; penne, pancetta with cream and peas, really tasty with the complimentary chilli and garlic oil! The other main was a linguine, bacon and mushroom with gorgonzola cheese nicely balanced. Service on point, pity about the starter. Will return and support a new old favourite.

Had a wonderful meal at Spiga!We had the Calamari Limone as a starter and it has got to be the best starter I have had in years!!! The Limone sauce is so good youll be tempted to ask for some bread to wipe the bowl clean ;) The calamari and tentacles are in a creamy limone sauce served in a bowl with three bruschetta. R75For Mains we had Penne Mafia (R75) and Pizza Mafiosa (R95). Both were absolutely delicious and recommended.Lovely vibe, lovely setting and friendly waitresses made for a lovely evening.

Calamari and tentacle “salad”. My mom asked them to replace the tentacles for more calamari which they did. She then received the bill which was R85 for this “salad” (with nothing else but lettuce in it) and another R45 for extra calamari. Regardless of the reputation of a restaurant, this was daylight robbery.

Man Im so happy Spiga is back. Great food, desserts and cocktails. Great vibe and location. Amazing any time of the day or year. We love you Spiga, never leave us again

The chocolate volcanoes are good, theyre dreamy and melty and have a smooth goodness that just warms the cockles of your heart.The pastas were of an appropriate starchture, but lacked some basic feel-good flavours.The staff were really friendly, helpful and worked with excellent efficacy.HOWEVER, the owner made us feel really uncomfortable... Like a scene from Disturbia, too close, too scary and a bit up in there.On several occasions, he was like half a metre next to our table, we couldnt even continue our conversations. The constant cigarette smell added to the unnatural youre-at-my-restaurant-but-lemme-behave-the-way-I-want-to behaviour.In fact, we tried to speak to him about it, at that instance he grabbed my cousins hand to apologise with full grip. UP FRONT CONTACT, NO PROBLEM apparently... No boundaries. None. Even when my cousin stated that hes feeling uncomfortable when the owner was that close, the owner got really defensive and started stating why bringing it up was worse. How is that even a discussion. MOVE BACK AND RESPECT THE SPACE. Please dont try to validate your really bad manners.Keep in mind, not once, inside nor outside his restaurant, did he have his mask on. On top of that, hugging and shaking hands was a norm for him to almost anyone and everyone that came close to him.Overall, quite disappointing from the great 20tweens of Spiga on Florida Road, to what it is now. Covid really damaged the lung power of this restaurants ability to blow you away.

Soooo happy they reopened. The new location is just across from Mitchells Park. Although small is cozy and less craziness than the Florida rd joint. Food was still good too. My favorite is the Agnoloti which is the butternut filled panzeroti in a rosé sauce.
