We had food from the buffet and it was absolutely amazing, from starters to dessert. Amazing ambience, the live music made it extra special. The gentleman playing the saxophone, super talented, could listen to him play the whole day long. Also got great service from our waitress Sane. I will definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

Dined at Butlers Hillcrest for the first time this past Wednesday and Wow! One of the best steaks Ive had and let me add I didnt have to send it back because it wasnt cooked the way I requested as Ive done at every other place... The portion size was perfect and was mind blown by every bite! Our waitress was super helpful and friendly and the manager offered to take photos for us as it was a farewell without us even having to ask! Also they didnt shout at us for making too much noise 🤣thanx guys!

Went there for a friends birthday yesterday, it was nice, the staff was very attentive👌

We went to butlers for my daughters birthday and they treated her so well and gave her the most delicious ice cream for desert. The staff also sang to her and brought her little heart chocolates. I loved the experience and so did she. The food was incredible too. What an amazing restaurant!

Food took a bit too long (we waited an hour :( - mind you, it was quite empty). The food was not that great. Oxtail was undercooked, my prawn pasta was quite small. The only meal we enjoyed was the pizza and creamy pasta. We also did not receive a drinks menu. But the waitress was quite friendly.

I wish for the love of all things holy that I could rate Butlers 0, but unfortunately google wont allow this. So 1/5 will have to suffice. Which is unfortunate, Id heard good things.My girlfriend and I were looking forward to eating pizza. A rare occurance as she is vegan and vegan cheese isnt offered at most restaurants. Doing our due diligence we called in advance in order to enquire if vegan options, including said cheese, were available. We received a resounding YES to all. We were set!The trip from our house to their establishment wasnt short and upon arrival we were told that there wasnt in fact any vegan cheese, nor vegan options available, but [we] could remove the cheese if we liked. A 40 minute round trip for bread though, didnt seem too enticing.Covid times being what they are, our backup option had closed during our nonsensical Butt-lers goose-chase. So tonight were having despair for dinner, with a side of wasted time and petrol.Thanks, most sincerely, for nothing.P. S. Please educate your staff on the definition of vegan.

Incredible GEM allocated in the middle of Hillcrest on the outer West of Durban. We went for a Sunday lunch buffet. Excellent food, but the service by each of the staff is absolutely incredible. Well done to the team at Butlers! Highly recommend this restaurant!

I had the most amazing and flavourful burger ever..my compliments to the chef..The friendly ladies at the drive through recommended the burger and am greatfull for that.prices are very reasonable and the cleanliness is impressive.

Went for company Christmas party, food was extremely delayed, and when it did finally come it wasnt exactly what was on the menu. Deserts were severed without cutlery, ended up using a straw to have my icecream.

Nice ambience and the live music was a nice touch for a Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and their calamari starter was great But their signature meals were disappointing. Both the Crispy pork belly and the slow braised beef ribs did not meet expectation. The pork belly was not crispy and the vegetables were over seasoned with way too much salt. The beef ribs was served lukewarm and cold in the center, tougher than it should be and way too much thyme added. If I could suggest that the kitchen staff take note of this, it could be a nice place for a meal. One other note which we did not like was that the smoking section in the center was not pleasant as the smoke wafts throughout the non-smoking area that surrounds the premises.

The best dining experience in many years. My wife and I booked for the Chefs Table and wine pairing. Great wines, brilliant food. The manager Steve and the sommelier handled it very professionally. We will definitely book for the next one.

This restaurant was such a pleasant surprise. We usually dodge Hillcrest when seeking a good meal with equal service, but were drawn to Butlers, intrigued by passing it on the main road. Good decision! Great location, plenty parking, decor thats trying to be upper society- and partly comes off. But to the food, excellence all around; crab cakes great, poached prawns great, camembert spring rolls great, pizzas were good, fillet topped with pancetta and brie was excellent, duck was great, and so were the desserts. Service was also very good, and very reasonable prices

Went for breakfast and wasnt disappointed. Place is beautifully decorated and staff friendly and efficient. The French toast was delicious. They have a nice breakfast menu. Will definitely return for the carvery on a Sunday ( buffet) or dinner.

Service is friendly, attentive and super helpful. For a date night , its reasonably priced - Starters, Main, Dessert & a complimentary bottle of Wine at R495 for 2 people . The live music is exceptional- saxophone sets the mood. Decor is dark and rich, a nice touch of class.

If I could rate 10 stars on this, I would. I had my birthday dinner at Butlers last night. Absolutely enjoyed the food and drinks. Service was fantastic. Waiters are always busy and the manager is visibly managing. The decor is gorgeous. My new favourite restaurant in KZN. ❤

5 stars is an understatement.We had our company function at Butlers on the 19th of Dec 2020. Such an amazing experience. Their service is exceptional. Steven was overseeing our function and Mandla was our waiter, we were not short of anything. They were extremely busy but at no stage was there any delays with our foods or beverages. The atmosphere was brilliant. From helping us offload our vehicles to walking us to our vehicles when it was time to leave, our experience was outstanding. Thank you to Butlers, we will definitely be back.

Superb service as always, even with a large group of 14 for husbands 60th. Delicious kingklip, ribs, pork belly especially, as well as superb tempura prawn starter special. Duck duo a little disappointing this time.

Loved the food and service, the ambiance was amazing ... steaks and fish are winners sadly the prawns were bland and the sauce was not good at all.

The waiters and waitresses were friendly and their service was good. The only problem was the restaurant manager who was very rude and doesnt know how to speak to customers. There were many things we were not made aware of when we booked the venue and when we spoke to him about it he made us feel as if were lying to him or were taking chances. The place is beautiful but we hardly enjoyed since he was on our throats.

Heard so much good news about Butlers and as such suggested it as a dinner venue for our Exec team year end Supper. Place was good, food was very very good. However the service fell short. It may be that they were quite busy, but we were left waiting and reordering drunks a number of times and the frequency of table courtesy from the waiter was not what I expected. The floor manager came around and assisted a number of times. Which I can appreciate. We must have caught you guys on a bad night. I will come back and try again another time.

Was looking forward to visiting this place but not sure if I placed to great of an expectation on them, or my palate just wished for something more rich and flavored. Great fine dining setting and arrangement with soft music in the background. Great array of menu through the variety of red and white meat and salads. Alcohol served here as well. Service was good except that we waited an extremely long time to get our food but the company was good so didnt mind the wait. Had pork ribs and filled chicken fillet. Ribs did fall off the bone but the taste was as though basting was just rubbed on after and not cooked in. Chicken fillet just lack a little seasoning of some sort but was still great. Cleared our plates. The prices were moderate and well fitted. We also had not made a reservation which because the establishment wasnt busy we were well accomodated.Covid regulations adhered to with temperature checks and sanitiser on entry and on the tables. Staff always have masks on.
