The ladies room needs hand liquid wash...not used soap. Unhygienic. The hand dryer needs to be sensor not press button...COVID-19 to be followed

Venue was nice. Hospitality excellent. Food was substandard. They should have a better variety of dishes. It was mostly curries which you can eat at home. If they up their game in the food department it could be an absolutely wonderful place to go to. Did not meet my expectations. So disappointed as I was so excited when I first got there. On the plus side best and friendliest staff ever. Great music too.

Food is excellent. They say good food takes a long time to prepare and this is true to this place. I am told by my family the prawns are lovely and the mutton curry is the best they have eaten. Being vegetarian the butter beans is lovely. All veggies are fresh and from the local market. Good value for money and some lovely views of the harbour and surrounds. Ample parking and good security. Overall, a place Ill visit again

Had the most delicious dinner there last night. A visit to this restaurant is a must. Fresh and beautifully prepared dishes, especially the seafood.

Although the service is great and the staff is excellent the food was very disappointing. Having enjoyed the high quality food many years ago we decided to try it again .We spent alot of money on food that could have been cooked better at home . Some of the food was served cold and we were the only 4 people in the restaurant the food that was served warm was bland . Although the waiting staff were very apologetic it was a very disappointing and expensive evening will not be returning again . Would not recommend the restaurant to anybody looking to enjoy restaurant quality food .

The place is cozy but the administration is horrible. I struggled to contact people because there is no constant reception. Dont even talk about calling them!!!!!!

Wonderful Prawn curry . Probably as good as the old Sea bell of the old days. I will go back to try the button curry soon. Recommend you give it a try

Lovely wedding and function venue

I MCd a sweet 16 birthday party at El-Arish, it was my first time there and the event was help at the first floor venue hosting just under 100 guests. The staff were friendly and service was very prompt. While the outside appears to be a bit old the venue on the inside was smart. The supper was a typical Durban buffet. Overall its a good venue with old school charm in central Bluff.

I recently had my wedding at Elarish, and what a fantastic experience it was from the staff assisting us with whatever we required, to the excellent hospitality I received from room service , the onsite Functions Management ensured the buffet service was the very best... will certainly be coming back for many years to come to share more precious moments.

We visited with a group of 7 people and enjoyed the space, but when it came to the food, 6 plates were served and the 7th had an extra 20min wait. It took multiple trips to the kitchen to ask where the 7th plate was before it was served. This may have been an exception to the rule, but the service at Spur for example is seemingly superior to this single experience. Ill update my review after another visit.

I am actually shocked and dumbfounded as to how this pathetic establishment has an average rating of 4.2/5. The venue is old, out dated, dull and needs a complete revamp. There is holes in the roof and its just a rather shabby looking place. Apparently, from asking around, El Arish can host 3 to 4 functions concurrently. The reason as to why I asked is because I was the MC for an engagement party and required a podium to place my programme and Mic. They only have one podium and it is shared between 4 rooms. I mean seriously, you have 4 function rooms but you have ONE podium? The food is tasteless, and bland. The waiters are dressed so shabberly and they think they doing you a favour. The girl behind the bar has no customer service whatsoever. When starters was served, side plates were not to be seen on the table. The aircon was not on when we arrived at the venue. It is typical restuarant/hotel that cuts corners. Please do not waste your time booking at this place. The only reason why it has such a good rating is because most people who have been here, havent been exposed to Hotels such as Hilton, Elangeni etc.

Never in all my years of traveling, have I seen such a disgrace of a hotel.. Staff were untidy, shirts untucked and walking as if they thought they were gangsters or something.. Absolutely zero hospitality etiquette. When I eventually got to my room, I found an unmade bed, a full dustbin, a dirty coffee cup next to the bed, a dirty tea spoon, no clean towels, and an unflushed toilet.. I was disgusted.. I wanted to call reception but they didnt even have a telephone in the room.. Sies man.
