Quick, efficient service, but a bit pricey compared to other companies

I recieved poor service from thrifty. first i didnt get the car that i payed for..the fuel wil was not filled up to the brim when recieving the car, but you have to return it full??? then i had to sanitiz the car myself because they use clean water to sanitize they dont care for their customers health and safety. and then the car was extremely filthy inside and out side. j spoke to the manager about it but you can see the atitude is poor they just dont care for their customers i hope people see this and knw that they are at risk for covid 19 because thrifty durban city does not care

They made me wait for more than 30min while they were doing a credit check, which I dont understand why they couldnt do it before I got there to pick up the car. After my credit check was done I had to wait for an extra 15+min while they went to refuel the car. The guy that went to refuel the car was standing there the whole time they were doing the credit check.Probably they thought I was also going to fail their credit check like the other customer that was there asking for refund since his credit history was not allowing them to give him a vehicle. They didnt give him the vehicle and couldnt refund his money as well.Complete blatant disregard for customer time.

I have been using Durban City branch, Im really disappointed in your service I rented a a bakkie about 2months ago now, the deposit on that bakkie was R10 000 and I returned a car with a full tank petrol and no new dent or scratch than my deposit was returned back and all of a sudden after 2 month now R10 000 is deducted from my account and when I went to a branch they tell me they dont know why they deducted again on my CREDIT CARD without any agreement or notification, they said it their head offices fault and then i sent the branch my bank statement and they told me I should wait they are still going to investigate why they deducted and if when they are finish they will bring back my now and are not even certain about the time when they will bring back my money. Currently Im being charged an interest from bank and Im forced to cancel my plans for this weekend because I have no money and no one knows when my money will be on my account. This is really inconveniencing really!!!

It was my first time ever renting out a car and they exceeded my expectations. They were able to accommodate my needs. The lady there by the name Sandra was patient and helpful also the security guy at the entrance was very welcoming. I was offered a brand new car. I got the deposit back within a time frame we agreed on.

I really enjoyed my experience renting a car through Thrifty Centurion. Friendly, quick and efficient service. However, returning the vehicle at the Durban branch was a real annoyance. They were slow, suspicious and unfriendly.

You guys are crooks! have not paid back our deposit from March every-time I call no one can help me and you end up hanging up on me when I demand to be assisted. You keep telling me to email refunds but no ever responds to my emails.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I wouldnt recommend renting a car here, especially the Durban branch. To get my deposit back, it took them a month. I had to phone countless times and visit their offices many times with no one assisting. They deducted 2 times from my account without a reason, when I asked they said it was a mistake. I am still fighting to get the money that was deducted by error. If you have the energy to deal with unprofessionalism then go for them

Parking a challenge and if youre hiring a car it feels unsafe because its on the road when you doing all your checks on your hired vehicle because its on the road and you get passing motorist driving very close to you.Thats the least of my problem I hired a car in February 2021 and still deposits are outstanding. I have full inference to substantiate my claim.

My husband and I rented a car from Thrifry Car Hire Durban Central 2and March 2021.It was an extremely frustrating procedure as they did not answer nor returned calls.When we picked up the car I asked to use the toilets. I was directed to the 2nd floor, where the mechanics and drivers have a toilet. I am a great grandmother and the last time I felt so humiliated was almost 40 years ago, during APARTHEID, when i wasnt allowed to use the white ladies toilets in my office and had to walk 2 blocks in central Johannesburg. . I did notice came back downstairs and I told my husband about my humiliation. He sorted the matter but wanted cancel the car.I wonder if I would have been treated like that if I was white. ?.I brought back terrible memories. By the way thThrifty Durban Central is run by Indian people- probably my skin colour and .We will NEVER HIRE FROM THRIFTY AGAIN.

Hired a car from Thrifty Car Rental - Durban Downtown only to find out the car was over 10000km overdue for service, brakes not working, leaking power steering fluid, no break fluid and smelling like an ashtray. Sent an email, made 7 calls no response!

Only use this car rental as they are the only ones who makes more sense.

Hired a Vito from the Durban city Depot, unroadworthy vehicle, smoke smell inside, windscreen had many stone chips, fuel not topped up, oil light kept on coming on, different brand of tires on vehicle, 1x tyre was cut and out of shape, spare tyre had no pressure in it. Today being exactly 1 month, and no feedback from Evelyn Durban management.Pathetic service, but very quickly in asking to pay booking fees to reserve the vehicle.

Service from staff is good the problem is that they take very long time to return deposits Ive used Thrifty 3 times, every time if Ive use their vehicle I must go more then once to enquire about my deposit as I am speaking I am waiting for my 2 deposits. Second thing is call centre sometimes you wait more than 20 minutes as if we are phoning for free, one day I called and i ran out of air air time I was speaking to the one whos incharge of deposits I kindly asked her to call me back she agreed and took my number but never called

Quick and easy service

What a bad service I received from the Durban branch, the car was dirty and fuel was not full and when I return the they expect it to be full??, I will never hire from them ever again, the staff attitude is bad, no invoice was sent to me called them several times requesting them to send me an invoice.

We did the booking via the call center and paid the rental fee and when we get there on Friday 17/01/2020 to get the car the tell us they need to do the credit check of which we were not told while doing the booking and paying the rental fee and unfortunately the score was down and we couldnt get the car.... When we asked for the refund they told to wait 4 to 7 working while needed to find another place to rent a car... They couldnt care less and the lady just left us there in at the reception without making some effort to help us get the refund ASAP...... A very very bad customer service.

Very unprofessional services

They were the cheapest but will never use them again. The service was not to bad. Booked a car online a month in advance. Asked for a booster seat to be includedWhen we collected the car they informed us they are out of booster seats. They said they will refund us as you pay extra per day for the booster seat. I still have not received a refund or heard anything thing form them.

This car rental place is convenient for those that need it. I did not have the most pleasant experience, they gave my partner and I a car that had no oil in it. It almost damaged the engine costing us money. I would advise that you double check everything, even if youre told its been checked.Other than that scary part, the car was comfortable and clean and performed well on the road.

I have loyally used Thrifty for over 10 years. Their fleet quality is rapidly declining. Vehicles have excessive scratches and marks on it. Not the quality of car that I wish to be associated with. I am considering to change.

Rented with the Group in a few countries but this branch offered the worst service. Nothing I booked was on the computer even though I paid in full online at time of booking. Car wasnt in the best condition, not like what Im used to with the group. Took matters up with Area Manager who said he would come back to me but still hasnt.
