As a restaurant I found it really lovely. The staff were so friendly. Sadly the story found in the menu was in really poor taste. It depicts a terrible form of slavery in a favourable light and that just cannot be accepted.The restaurant has some really good pictures of the old town and still has the original vine that was established there in the eigtheen hundrends. The melktert was ok, but not overly exciting.There is a small play area for kids located at the back and seating is found both inside and outside. Covid protocol was observed although unlike some of the other areas we visited in the Karoo no tempratures were taken and we had to enquire for sanitiser.

Food is good and the service is excellent.

Quiant cute place, menu not for all travelers very farmy but said that I do understand the concept..Was very hot... no fans..air-con.. some more kiddies entertainment would help passing patrons.

Amazing spot with loads of history and a very charming owner sadly the Karoo lamb chops were dreadful.... sinewy and not the loin chops expected....cabbage and pumpkin.....outstanding

Quaint local gem. The outdoor area is particularly cozy with a garden setting with stunning fairy lights in the evenings. Excellent service. Good food. Felt very secure and relaxed.

It was open early 08h00 for breakfast on a Monday morning and the breakfast was great and the coffee tasted like it smelled. Divine. I will definitely go there again.

Worth the visit to see an original middleclass Karoo home relatively unchanged and still owned the same family. Homestyle food. Not a lot for vegetarians on the menu but I had a lovely butternut soup and veg lasagne.

Lovely stop in Coolsberg! The milktart is amazing! The staff are friendly. Pricing is affordable. The main stiing area is under a grape vine that is almost 200 years old!

As you walk in you are greeted by the amazing staff and they are extremely friendly, this is a quaint little place and it’s very quiet but the food is great and so is the service great. Very big and great for family and friends to join along or tag alone.Great place to stop for breakfast when traveling.

We really enjoyed our home cooked meals after a long day on the road. Hubby said Lamburger couldve been a bigger portion, but otherwise delicious :) Thank you for your hospitality!

My lamb shank was good but food in general is average. No social distancing between tables and tables were not sanitized. Owners and kitchen staff did not wear masks. Waiters were fine.

I had the Mutton Pie with rice and veg and my partner had the lamb burger. Both were delicious. Fast and friendly service and beautiful historic building. If you are in Colesberg you should definitely give it a try.

All staff welcomed us warm and heartily. Food was delicious, lamb shanks melt in your mouth tender. Be prepared to wait an hour or more for your meal, worth the wait. Warm rural hospitality. You can also stock up on farm produce and confectionery.

Upon arrival the hostess/owner was on the phone. But after standing around for quite a while she eventually told us that we could sit anywhere. Waited for 10 minutes, and even though the waitress (assuming shes a waitress as she was wearing an apron) was walking around our table chatting to the cleaner, we still didnt receive any menus or service. We decided to leave, and to our surprise the hostess/owner was nowhere to be seen.If Colesberg was a holiday destination I could understand that it would be more laid back. But unfortunately it is merely a stop to a final destination. And therefore slow service is unacceptable. Not even to mention the fact that not one of the personnel was wearing masks, and there was no protocols in place.

We went on a Friday evening in early December. No sanitising, no register, no Vovid-19 protocols. The owner told us we could have a table in a corner, back to back with other patrons. When we pointed out that there was no social distancing, he took us to another corner, with chairs facing the wall. Two waitresses came to tables near us but did not bother to even make eye contact with us or take our drinks order. I even stood up so they could see us but to no avail. We got up and left and the hostess saw us leaving but said nothing. If this is the Bordeaux hospitality or service, it is very sad that it is non-existent. I would give them zero stars if there was such an option. Thankfully we got much better service in another restaurant down the road in Colesberg.

Definitely our favorite restaurant in Colesberg. We have dinner there every time. Our server Jane was amazing and fast! Beer was cold and food on the table in 10 minutes.If you are in the mood for good old fashioned deliciously prepared food make a stop! The veggies are great and the atmosphere also.Best in Colesberg! And also very welcoming to dogs!

Two weeks ago we had a wonderful 1st time experience at the restaurant, when we had great lamb shank that inspired us for a return visit tonight. What a disappointing turnaround, no cold beers, lengthy waiting periods for service and food and a humiliating experience that i would rather not elaborate on. A last visit for sure.
