The desert was amazing. I had Angels Delight, which was very chocolatey and the orange sorbet was just tangy enough. I had the Marlin Special and it was fish wrapped in bacon. Server was nice, drinks were good. Only hard part was having a large table, stick to groups of 4.

Very nice place with amazing views of the beach! I enjoy their seafood dishes but their steak isn’t that- it’s a seafood restaurant after-all! We asked for medium done steak, it came well done and rather dry...? But, I will definitely come back for their seafood and sea views this summer, really cool place!

Stunning sea views! Perfect to take your overseas guests or just family on a Sunday. They have a great menu. Alot of seafood on offer. The seating outside overlooks the beautiful ocean. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon lunch. Definitely recommend a visit. I will be going back soon. Also very peaceful as its not close to anything else.

World class position with uninterrupted sea views. Nestled just off the main road we found this gem of a restaurant. It is also very popular with tourists. Offers sitting inside or outside. Ideal place for families or friends catching up. Had toouch excitement there when a baboon walked into the restaurant through the front door where the patrons would enter.. Jumped behind the kitchen counter and returned to steal off a patrons plate.. Ive included a video.. Dinner and a dance lol

The food is great, the staff are fantastic. Real rustic old world charm right on the sea!Large groups are easily accommodated outdoors or indoors.As at the time of writing ( August 2018) they open at 09:00 and close at 21:00.Cyclists may enjoy breakfast here from 08:00. Terms and conditions might apply though.Situated on the seaside spectacular sea views of huge granite boulders can be enjoyed.

Great spot for breakfast. Food is nice and the view from the terrace is great on sunny days. Baboons sometimes enter the restaurant which can be quite entertaining (just watch your bag / food!)

Had a great time here, the view is fantastic and the food was good quality for the price.[Update] shortly after we got home both my partner and I fell ill, and we spent the evening in the bathrooms. We both believe the mussels had gone off which caused our issues. Unfortunately with an experience like this I cannot recommend this place.

Want to know why the reviews are so varied?Our food was great! We got a seafood platter, seafood pasta, fish and chips, catch if the day, a vegetable curry (good vegetarian options) and a stuffed chicken. Everything was fabulous. They have some of the most perfectly fried chips (French fries) I have ever had. Prices are very reasonable. Leon gave us great service. The view was amazing. We saw several humpback whales.The reason I only am giving four stars is that the chicken was undercooked. It turns out that many of the cooks are from a cooking school. Thats why the chicken was undercooked. But they didnt charge us for it.Definitely worth a visit

Hey, what a disappointment, drove all the way from Stellenbosch, to come to the restaurant, just to find the restaurant closed.The staff was inside, didnt even have the decentcy, to come outside to tell us, the restaurant is close.I wont come again..... 😐

Unfriendly, unorganized wedding planner at the venue. I made an appointment to view the venue, arrived and nobody knew who I was (the wedding planner seemed extremely confused) Rates that were communicated via email to me by the venues wedding planner had changed when I arrived at the venue to further discuss. Not a pleasant start to my venue scouting experience. Good communication and service really is key in the service industry.

The venue was not cleaned properly before the wedding I. E. Floors dusty. So badly needs a spot of paint etc. But the supper was great.

Interior could be updated, staff was friendly, food was satisfactory. No real view from inside. We were hungry and it was on the way back from Cape Point.

OMG! The view! We sat outside because the weather was so nice. I had the trout which was very good. Waiters were friendly. Price was a little high but, of course, this is one of the finest restaurants in Cape Town, near Simons town, I think. Did I mention the view?

It is OK, for tourists. Food is OK. Service is good. Historically of interest as it was a whaling station. Views are excellent, if you choose your table right. If youre not too fussy about food (I am), but like a sea view whilst chowing, try them.

The kitchen closes at 9pm, although we arrived at 8.25pm, were warmly greeted and welcomed. The restaurant is beautifully situated in an old farm house decorated with memorabilia and fishing documentation, a stones throw from the ocean.We chose a platter for two and were richly rewarded. Every morsel on the plate was devoured with gusto (the sauces found their way onto the table cloth and my shirt). Well done to the entire team at the Black Marlin.

Will definitely venture this place again...

Very nice, gentle environment, stunning view, lovely drive to get to the venue too! The food was divine! Steak was soft an tender, the chips was flavourful... this is the perfect venue for that first date! Although I attended a wedding I will definitely be back!

I love the Black Marlin because of the setting, and the food is always pretty good. Not special but okay. Just wish it looked nicer. Better tables and chairs and not so rammed. But they cater for the coach parties and thats what it looks like.

Great Chef

Great scenery on a sunny day. Staff are friendly too. We celebrated a 70th birthday party in their main room catering for about 50 people. It was a great venue. However, we needed to bring our own audiovisual equipment, and the daylight made it difficult to present on a screen. But the view of Millers Point and the beach coastline close by is awesome. I would highly recommended.

We visited Black Marlin for lunch. The waitress was very friendly and tried her best to get us a seat with a sea view, even though most of the tables were booked by tour groups. The fish and chips was excellent, but the calamari was a bit bland and chewy. Would definitely visit again for the views and the fish&chips.

This is a good place to eat out it is on the edge of the mountain and close to the beach with beautiful view and some are to play with family or as a group. The place has good secure parking beautiful places to sit outside in the sun or shade, talk about the food you will be kept asking for more. The chef is always close to ask exactly what you want and the food given at very good temperature. They have good respect and customer relations No matter what background they make you enjoy. Do not forget their mouth watering desert please

Magnificent setting and very popular, probably because of its location, but so disappointed in the sea food pasta I had, included a number of fish bones, what seemed to be pieces of scrap stock fish skin and all and one only piece of calamari two mussels and two small prawns. Even this might have been acceptable if it had been well prepared and tasty. Come on guys this is an iconic tourist spot, you can do much better.

I love everythibg about the Black Marlin. On the sea, amazing seafood, fantastic inside and outside seating. You can take you visitors here, they wont disappoint.

Popular tourist bus lunch stop. Be prepared to wait. Great views but choose a day when the wind isnt blowing to much. Chances are that you will sit outside since the indoor areas are booked out for tour groups. Be sure to phone ahead to check availability.

Due to its location this is a bit of a hidden gem for locals.This is a great location for lunch and dinner with incredible views. Food was delicious and well priced with excellent attentive service.Make sure you book in advance to get yourself a great table with a view.

Stunning setting and excellent food, albeit bit pricey for South Africans. Book in advance and make a specific request with management for table in garden under trees, its a breathtaking view over the beach. Unfortunately they messed up our booking on 2 occasions and we landed up inside the first time and on the deck next to the security fence the next time.

On a recent visit to Cape Town we popped past the restaurant on a route from Cape Point. What a great view walking into the restaurant and then being treated so poorly by the staff. We had no reservation and were rudely shown to a table. Such a shame.

2 stars for the superb ocean view, but unfortunately the food quality was not as per expectation. We chose this restaurant for sea food but neither the Oysters, Carpacio, Tuna Nor Mussels were at an acceptable level for this price.

It was incredible. The food was delicious and the service matched. If you havent been to the Black Marlin, treat yourself to an experience that has to be repeated.

No signs that not dog friendly, and regardless very rude manager denying entry after a long hike down from cape point specifically to visit. We were prepared to sit at their outside isolated area. One grumpy wife and grumpy great dane later, we wont be going back

They were really busy and I do take my hat off to them for providing a good meal in good time during a power outage! On a good sunny day, you cannot beat the views from the outside seating areas.

Great venue but food average... too busy and little attention to detail!

Disappointing. I had fish and salad. Fish was dry and and salad was boring - lettuce and a few julienned beetroot and carrot, tiny wedge of tomato. Olive oil and balsamic given only after I asked for salad dressing.Some staff dont seem to have been trained as the waiter stretched across my dining companion to serve my food.

Weve enjoyed quite a few excellent meals there and were impressed that even when they were extremely busy with large coach tours, the service was quick and efficient. We were amazed that we did not have to wait for our food. Well done!!
