Review dates 30 September 2021.Order from Bolt.Order from restaurant took over 2 hours. Ordered 18:42. Finally delivered 20:50.Phone restaurant at 20:14. Told they where busy. With a 50% off promotion (on bolt, not the restaurant) I found this valid.Sushi delivered (I live up the road also) was subpar i would have been fuming if I paid full price for this. Last nail in the coffin and rather insulating the order had missing elements.The frozen peregrine pie I had managed to cook in the waiting process and to fend off starvation was far better and i humorously probably could have driven over the pass and back to get a fresh one within that time.Rock Sushi Thai like similar comments used to be good and i as with others, agree.I wont be returning.

Not impressed with the service AT ALL...1st time ordering, placed an order through Bolt at 7pm, it is now after 9pm. Contacted your establishment at 8.30 to follow up as the bolt tracker shows that the driver is outside waiting just to be told that they are still busy with the order. Checked tracker now again at 9.10pm and they still busy with the order. I hope that when the food finally arrives that we are not disappointed with the quality either...only read your reviews now and Im sorry that I placed the order even before receiving it...will post a review on how the food was if we eventually get it

I ordered sushi for delivery. Contacted the restaurant to let them know that I didnt get all the sushi pieces. They refused to take responsibility and told me the delivery driver must have eaten it. They said I must lay complaint with the driver. Pathetic service!!! Definitely wont order there again! Neither will any of family and friends.

We went for supper tonight and loved it! We were reticent because of the previous reviews but they were unfounded. Great food and wonderful service. Give your local hood a chance. We did and it was worth it!

Used to love the place. 1 bad experience and this place makes you feel like its your fault.unedible sushi...had to throw it in the bin.whatsapp their number (as when calling no one answers) left on read for over 2 hours. Whatsapp again...get a half arsed response of its the bolt drivers fault for the packaging (explain it wasnt the packaging...it was old dry fish and old rice) 4 hours of whatsapps and then a half arsed apology where Im told they will make me more and I must come get it now.zero care for losing a customer.pity...used to be a great place

I must say that I am very sad to see how much this place has declined in service and overall appeal since it first opened and tonight has made me reconsider ever ordering from them again. Tonight I went in and placed an order for takeaway and I was told that it would take 20 minutes for the order to be ready.Needless to say I had to wait an hour for my food, which is generally unacceptable in any restaurant, especially one that only had one sit down table. During my hour waiting time I also had to sit and watch while other patrons, who had placed their orders awhile after I had, receive their food in the promised 20 minute time frame.I was also disappointed with the quality of food that I was given. It was under seasoned and overall unremarkable.- One very disappointed customer.

Everything was great until my plate of sushi came with a cockroach crawling all over my food! And after that we left the restaurant. No charge for our bill.

Terrible do not bother, not good Chinese/Thai

I 100% recommend the sushi 💛 I had the Protea Combo the presentation is INSANE 🎉 and I loved every bite 😁The virgin cocktails are a bit sour but other than that it was great. Service was Excellent, very sweet and attentive staff 🌻🙏🏽

I enjoy the vibe and the food is always consistent. The staff go that extra mile to make sure that your happy. I left my scarf behind and they kept it for me and when I went back for dinner the waiter Tate had kept it for me. 3 weeks had already past. 6 stars out of 5.

Wow what a hidden gem. My first time eating here and i absolutely have to recommend it. The atmosphere is lovely. Their menu is amazing from normal sushi to their signature Rock Sushi menu which is such a delight and a nice change from the old regular options. Service was good. I definitely recommend booking a spot if its nearer to the weekend as they get quite busy and have some patience as they seem to get allot of take away orders which can back the kitchen up otherwise they great.

The food was amazing. Had sushi which was fresh and tasty. Waitress was awesome and fun and good vibe. There could be more music and the setting needs some touching up.

Lousy! The actual restaurant has no ambience. The food was average and expensive, the wine was stupidly expensive! All in all a do not do again experience. The only positive was the waitrons who were very friendly. Wont go there again!

Really good quality sushi with a potent wasabi that brought tears to my eyes. I especially enjoyed the Godzilla rolls. Our waiter was friendly and helpful.

We had dinner there on Friday 6 December. We sat outside as there was suffient natural light. Load shedding was already implemented and the waiter did remind us. My partner had called during the day of ask if they were able to operate during load shedding. Yes was the answer, we have gas. So we order our drinks and waiters are already using their cellphone torches for light. The restaurant next door has emergency lighting and is running smoothly. We wait and wait and wait...inside people are getting smoked out due to the extraction not working and no emergency lighting being provided. Our food did arrive and was very tasty..thank you. But with regards to the safety of the staff and patrons, 2 gas lamps would be suffient for lighting inside and head lamps for your chefs would suffice. It is against the Occupational Health and Safety Act to have insufficient lighting in a working environment. I hope that the owners go out today and get some lighting for their restaurant...as tonight there will be more power outages.

Had the most incredible takeout from Rock Sushi Thai a couple nights ago. I had the Phucket Noodle, my fiancé had the Firecracker Noodle. Both were absolutely delicious! Ive always enjoyed their food but they seem to have seriously upped their game recently! Definitely my favourite Asian restaurant. Thanks for the yummy food, well be back!

Our regular place to sneak out for dinner. Sushi is awesome and you must try the firecracker noodle. Service was great.

I must say I hate it when a place that charges a premium price for food delivers sub standard fare. Ordered for collection and when my wife arrived home the order was wrong. I ordered noodles and we were given rice. When I called the lady on the other side was very apologetic and organized for the noodles to be delivered, which I really appreciate, but It has been half an hour and still no noodles, my food is cold and my wife has already eaten. So what could have been a chilled rainy evening at home eating take out with my wife has now become a waiting for noodles in the rain evening. This is not the first time we have experienced this hence me writing a long overdue review. Not sure I will order from RST again. At R150/head for a take out you would expect to get what you order at least. UPDATE, so after 40 min I call and the manager tells me she put my address in her gps and the house it took her to wasnt mine. Well, I have nothing to say other than never again.

Food always good, service can be a bit hit and miss . Things have changed since new ownership over past few months. A repeat customer but always feel a bit like its a lucky packet when it comes to food quality /service.

Great sushi, recommend the 20pcs platter special for less than R150

So i went to go pick up takeaways for 2 people and when i got there the bill was R342 as aposed to the R250 i was ready to spend. Please update Google with your current menu prices. Would have been nice if they had discounted the bill to make up for it.

Been going here for 5 years, and this last year has been the end of it. Management changed and the quality and atmosphere along with it, cold food, lesser quality, fish in colors weve never seen it before and a mark up thats suited to where theyre renting but not to what theyre serving. Disappointing really.

Their sushi is also not something to miss out on.Parking is on the street and its location in Newlands makes it a great spot for locals and tourists alike.Its a perfect date restaurant or just catching up with your friends.Add this to your must-eat list!

Waitress was amazing, super attentive and efficient but food took forever (waited almost 40 minutes for starters while all around us mains were being served) and manager was slightly overbearing in his approach but overall it was fine and we will probably return.

This is a little gem tucked away in Meadowridge Shopping Centre.Rock Sushi has a cosy and relaxed atmosphere indoors with outdoor seating overlooking a childrens play area.Its a good place to park off for a great coffee (especially after grocery shopping) or to meet up with friends for a meal. It would even be a good place for a first date.They have a wide variety of sushi and Thai food to choose from, and their chow mein and Penang curry with egg-fried rice is excellent.Theres a fully stocked bar (with sport on TV) and they also serve craft beer.If you havent been to Rock Sushi before, give it a try.

Recently the quality of sushi has been terrible. We decided to give it one more go only to be told there is an event and they cannot take orders until 6. Phone back at 6 and phone is off the hook?! After years of ordering sushi with this restaurant I am starting to look elsewhere

We arrive at 21.00 this evening and the host as well as staff says they closed and your door says closes at 10pm
