Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ .ᴄᴏᴍ when booking a resort. This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have rates much cheaper compared to others! Youre welcome :)! This hotel is one of my favorites in the area. I have been staying here for a very long time. If you choose this place you for sure wont be let down. This place is a wonderful place to spend time with friends and family. The exhibitions are interesting and very well edited. I suggest a yearly pass, it’s cheap and you’ll definitely want to come back, either for the art , the garden or the food.

Myself, wife and child went to Norval Foundation around 4pm for the Garden day today and one of the reception team made us feel so unwelcome by telling us that they are not allowing anyone in anymore, I politely informed her that i saw on the website that you close at 5pm and you stop allowing people to enter at 4:30pm, she pretended as if she did not know this information. We did end up going in thanks to another lady that came to assist us. I must say the garden is very beautiful but we did not stay too long because we felt a bit uncomfortable after the ordeal.

Went specially in mid-afternoon to see the new exhibition on the top floor. The gallery was in darkness. I asked for the lights to be turned on and for the next 30-40 minutes waited in vain for them to be turned on. I was refused access to the manager and it eventually turned out that they had known all about the problem since the morning. I was treated in the most off-hand manner by the reception staff, who do not understand their job is to be helpful. Nobody asked for my name and the reception staff made no attempt to apologise. What an unpleasant experience.

Sure, its a fabulous setting and architecture, some interesting art, I do think more art needs to be added and presented here, as they have space...There are so many artists that need that exposure and should be given a chance...We have not seen yet the gardens but from afar which looks lovely, that will be the next time we visit. I look forward to see the next exhibitions and give further comments. The restaurant is fine.

The Norval Foundation is a wonderful experience &rewarding outing. We arrived just in time for breakfast/brunch (ends at 11am) at the Skotnes restaurant&sat outside - well distanced from others, enjoying the views of the mountain &the sculpture garden in the foreground.Hard to beat &considering the upmarket setting the breakfast prices are reasonable. After brunch, we visited the indoor gallery. Be prepared to pay for this, on the positive side it was a great deal to buy an annual membership (with benefits). The art gallery is well curated & promotes discussion. The spectacular sculptures are set in a beautiful indigenous garden and provide photo opportunities. Interesting childrens play area. btw there is also a gift shop with unique items. We enjoyed a restorative time in a beautiful setting.

We had a group of lovely children from Bubble Bears in Belhar as our audience for our production, which they loved and then we took them to play on the grass and they were so delighted. I would love to give this absolutely beautiful garden a 5... but there was one thing that I thought was missing...they have gone though all the time and effort to plant and place all this beautiful fauna and flora yet there is no information on what plants they are.I personally feel that all that time put into making this an absolute gem of an outdoor art attraction, maybe they should think about putting up little signs to say what the different plants are... It could become the ultimate learning haven. 😃

This is a relatively new institution in Cape Town and Im afraid it still has a bit of a start-up feel about it although obviously masses of money have already been thrown at the project and its very smart. I visited for the first time today but I bought annual tickets because I know Ill be back. The institute is at an instant disadvantage from the point of view of competition because it has glorious Kirstenbosch just around the corner, but if Norval can find a niche to complement Kirstenbosch, it would only be to the benefit of the whole of the Cape.I agree with the comment about labelling the flora for educational purposes - although of course, Kirstenbosch was there first and theyve done it well. The sculptures were a horror show. They could have done better with a collection of secondhand shop dummies from Woolworths. The pink abortion absolutely has to go as a matter of extreme urgency. I have already put a photo of that one and my comments up on Twitter - in fact, I did it while I was there, its that urgent. Its made of fibreglass. Its flammable (Im not offering any prizes by the way - that would constitute incitement to commit a crime).I want to see the art upstairs though - didnt have time today. If I dont report back on the art upstairs in a few weeks time, will someone please nag me.

The Norval Foundation is an impressive building which houses various exhibitions and an outside sculpture garden. The architecture and interiors are beautiful the restaurant while Ive only had lunch during a media launch was really good and well presented. The furnishings everything to the upstairs bar is excellently designed and furnished to very high standards. The Norval had recently been hosting musical concerts which we recently attended. It was a great Jazz group. They only seat 60 people for the concert so feels really special and you get to roam the exhibition space and sculpture garden in the evening. The Norval coupled with the right exhibition (currently a William Kentredge exhibition) or concert is with out a doubt worth the visit.

Even from the outside the Norval Foundation promises to be a delightful outing. In all senses of the word, a cool building housing, at the time of my visit, a cool exhibition of William Kentridge sculptures. It’s not the biggest gallery (and one of the rooms was closed for refurbishment), but still managed to mooch around for over an hour on just this one exhibition. Then a further hour or longer stroll through the beautifully kept gardens to see more sculptures from different artists. This was a perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon, surrounded by art and serenity.Although we didn’t eat, the restaurant on site looked to be turning out beautiful looking plates of food and all other facilities were excellent, from the bathrooms to the underground parking. Best yet, it being the 1st Thursday of the month, it was all free. Signage is small and on the side of the building, so don’t be tempted to drive up the road as we did, as soon as you get off the main road, it’s the first set of barriers on your right.

The environment is different. A modern architectural building that is set in a natural environment. The restaurant is warm and welcoming with waiters very attentive to the guests. The crowd is upmarket yet dressed casually. The food: presented as beautiful art. Cuisine that youll find at Michelin star restaurants except it tastes like home cooked food. Fantastic. I really enjoyed it. Its child friendly too. A definite yes on all aspects.
