Excellent experience! Fabulous food! I took my family who were visiting from out of town through and we were so glad we did!View of Cape Town leafy suburbs below, airport in the distance and beach to the left, this made a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy! Warning, the portion sizes are incredible here, without compromising on taste! Take your friends and family for a meal or even just for some coffee and a slice of lemon meringue... They even have cocktails! An absolute MUST for anyones bucket list ππ»ππ»
Such amazing views right at the Rhodes memorial, you can see both oceans from the view, which is quite accessible and just past an amazing drive to get there. The restaurant has a large variety of food, loads I still want to try. They even serve some cocktails. Had a great mojito there. Nice place, tucked away.
In a, beautiful setting perched high up to give you a birds eye view of Cape Town. Free parking close to the restaurant. Covid protocols followed and tables sanitised before you are seated. Relax in outside seating under treed shade and umbrellas. We watch eagles and kites swoop around the tall trees and pretty butterflies gently touching the shrubs. Hubby enjoyed his chilli eggs and I had the granola, fruit and Yoghurt. Food is a bit pricey here, but I guess you paying for that view. Friendly service. After your breakfast or lunch take a stroll around Rhodes Memorial.
The view was really beautiful and the food portions were big. However, the waiter who was serving us had a bad attitude and that left a bitter taste. The restaurants toilets seem to be public so the hikers around the area can use them which is inconvenient for when youβre with a child because of the long lines.
Had a lovely lunch here with family and was very impressed with the service and potion sizes. The cakes are huge! Food is very tasty and the waiters are friendly. All COVID protocols were in place and there is plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. There is also a parking lot at the top of the mountain which takes you to stairs leading to the restaurant. The view from the top is so pretty and you can see a bit of the ocean. Great place to come to be in nature and escape the city.
How sad.We had one of the last meals served here on Sunday, when we had to evaluate with the fire :(.My Mom and Grandparents, then my Mom, Dad, sisters and I, and now us with our boys, have been coming here for what is probably 60 years. And now it is gone.We hope to join you again very soon.
If you want the best scones in Cape Town - this is your place. Beautiful views too.We also had a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich- which is also good.Keep it simple and you wonβt be disappointed.I think it gets super busy on weekends and public holidays but we sent in school holidays in the week and it wasnβt too busy.
Totally brilliant spot. Spacious. Kids play facilities. Dogs allowed. The menu is varied, wth some interesting new-to-me choices. Lovely cheese and meat platters. I had a fantastic baked Cob. Large, succulent, and tasty. You have to give this place a try if you are unfortunate enough not to have been there already.
The setting is spectacular and the food is good. The menu is varied but not vast. Service is very friendly, and not too slow for such a relaxed restaurant.
Breakfast , lunch or tea time, you can never go wrong here. Food is delicious and portions are perfect. The vibe is also super relaxing and the near site of the Memorial is just breathtaking .
RHODES MEMORIAL RESTAURANT REVIEW....After a return of 40 years, I visited there 2 days before the disastrous fire and noted all the fallen trees, branches and undergrowth on the way up to the restaurant and said to my companion that the conditions looked, as an amateur, like a fire hazard to me!The food and service was good but oh my, what a tired and shabby looking facility for such a prominent tourist spot! The uneven surface, the rickety wooden benches and overall scruffy appearance was totally unbecoming a venue of this stature!Friends from Cambridge attested to this fact on their last visit here 4 years ago as well! How sad...Perhaps some good can come out of this disaster in that a new, better and appropriate facility can rise from the ashes!
Please out of the kindness of your hearts go to the website and donate. Fire devastated this amazing venue/area.
I havent been back to this beautiful historic spot in many years and unfortunately the only thing thats the same is the veiw. Amazing setting but I can highly recommend NOT to have the chicken schnitzel. Even the chips tasted like it was fried in oil a month old or maybe they added some citronella for the flies. Absolutely terrible but Ill always hold a special place for the spot and maybe your luck is better than mine.Im not sure what I waitresss name was as we were not told, she was polite and efficient so I cannot complain much. We tipped her well even though we could have just as well been driving through a fast food joint. Ive spent more than 20 years in the service and hospitality industry and I hope this little gem makes it back to where it should be.
Even during this crazy time, well worth the sit down for lunch. Waiting time is not bad either. No long lines of people. Excellent views of the Cape Flats. Great food. Lemon Meringue and Scones are worth the drive.
Always great to spend time at Rhodes. Wonderful views, great food and friendly staff.
I love Rhodes. Its one of my favourite iconic Cape Town locations. On this particular late Saturday afternoon, the prego roll disappointed. 1) arrived cold and 2) completely bland and tasteless. Management apologized and gifted me a free dessert - they know my weakness! I know Rhodes well so knew this to be an exception as their food is usually tasty - best breakfasts, dreamy desserts and pastries and, of course, location tops!
Well the welcome comity must have been off because it was more of a help yourself kinda ordeal! Now lets go back to the beginning! What a spectacular location, every time I think I found the best view CPT seems to amaze me again! Do have to just say that they should cut the hedges down a bit as you can not enjoy the view when you sit down. Now, hygiene is key! Sitting at a greasy table and dingy menus that was clearly not wiped down. Small things like that could destroy the atmosphere. But the food was really nice. Exactly what I wanted and cooked just as I would have at home.
Speedy service, excellent cappucino, dog-friendly (even with little dog biscuits), and an interesting menu. Lovely shady setting.
Amazing food! The lemon meringue pie is definitely a favourite!
Not great service, not crowded but still put a big group right next to us with dogs. Bathrooms disgusting, no soap no paper towels. Food cold and half frozen chips. Nice view .
Had a lovely experience. COVID protocols in place and staff on their top performance. A great break away from the times were in. Breakfast was amazing and prices were not extreme either. Real value for money.
Delicious meal with efficient and friendly service. Thank you.
Delicious food with the most beautiful view
What a lovely lunch out, view to die for, friendly staff and the best milktart I have ever eaten. The Christmas Cake Ice Cream was also great.
Outdoors is always good. Service quick and friendly. Food presentation also good.
What a view! Lovely pastries.
I love Rhodes Mem Restaurant. The setting and service turns an ordinary Latte into a revelation.
Very nice venue and food. We had a very enjoyable breakfast there.
Excellent service with the most beautiful view!
Destroyed by fire 17th April 2021.
Very pleasant garden area, they serve a good breakfast & the coffee was ok.
Lovely outdoor seating (Im sure inside is lovely too), and good food that didnt take too long to arrive. Prices were reasonable. A nice place for meeting with friends and family, and with kids. Wheelchair accessibility is a problem though. Friendly and attentive waiting staff. Plenty parking space, and of course there is the Memorial proper to visit before or after, and some beautiful views.
Beautiful views and plenty of parking. The prices are high by Cape Town standards and the quality isnt great.
The place is good... the view is great... Im just so sad that they changed their old menu but nevertheless everything is good. Having a breakfast up there its amazing with all that fresh air.
Superb views, brilliant excellent professional service. Wonderful, excellent varied menu and superb food. Plus an extra bonus of a dog friendly section which our canine friend enjoyed the memorable outing. Looking forward to our next visit.
This is a place you go to for the view and natural beauty. The food isnt bad but not the best. We had good weather today so it was great to sit outside. There is a lovely fireplace inside if the weather is inclement. Go and enjoy π
Lovely afternoon tea and scones with one of the best views in town.
Great setting, nice kids play area. Menu is extensive. Tried the burger and the wrap. Both were attractively presented. Burger patty lacked a bit in taste and texture. Not a wow meal but it filled a gap. From what I remember and have heard its best known for its scones and tea.
A DEFINITE place to visit but....My daughter and I stopped in after a cycle ride along the contour path. The sugar free home made Lemonade was great. The view and surroundings at the foot of the mountain is great. Prices are high...expensive! (For South African pub grub type of place). Toilets are clean. Theres place for small kids to play.Ive always been disappointed in the food and the service over my visits for the last 2 decades. Its definitely about the place and not the food :-)
Amazing views and great food
Had a wonderful lunch.
Service was shocking. Not in a good way.
A must visit for classic South African foods and traditional fare. Great outdoors, beautiful vistas, right next Rhodes Memorial!
Great family restaurant, kid and dog friendly! They have a jungle gym for the kids and put out water bowls and treats for dogs! Food is excellent and the view is one of the best in Cape Town!! Service was very friendly and efficient.
Staff always friendly. Food delicious! The Breakfast on the run is great value for money. Beautiful setting whatever the weather (they have blankets for outside if its chilly!). Love that you can bring your dogs and they offer after bowels and doggie biscuits:-) Play area well maintained. Such a family favourite.
Fantastic location with varied and interesting menu. Good breakfasts, lunches and a few sweet treats. It comes across as a little grubby, but the food is excellent, and reasonably priced, though not cheap. Great views outside and cozy inside when the weather is inclement. Booking necessary in high season. Not open at night. Licensed.
Great service, great venue. We will be back.
I have been coming to this establishment for over 40 years and have fond memories of sitting in front of the log fire drinking hot chocolate with a slice of chocolate cake to with it. Having lunch outside in summer is also a must. The food and service has also never changed, it has always been top notch. I now take my grandchildren there for a treat.
My happiest memories are here. Wonderful staff and an exquisite menu. The view simply brings great perspective to life. The craziness of life. Vegan options available and cold beer.
Loved every second spent there and the scones are simply divine.
Friendly staff, peaceful environment. Chairs are a little bit uncomfortable and the menu a little bit limited.
The place was fine, but the food was terrible, it made me and my partner sick, absolutely terrible, the meat tasted like it had been in the fridge for too long.
Great views from the slopes of the back (east) of Table Mountain. Decent food and service. Nice kids play area with excellent visibility from elevated tables.
What a wonderful experience. My daughter loved exploring as well. Staff service was great. Would definitely recommend even our locals pop in.
Often at touristy places one can be disappointed with the food, the service, the whole experience....not so here. Lovely staff, amazing food, and really generous portions!Loved having a pet-friendly section and treats for the dogs too!
Have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed the food and views. Delicious lunch today too. The portion sizes are large, so if youre hoping to have desert too, I recommend sharing a main first!
Love coming here. Good food. Attentive and efficient staff. And so kind and thoughtful. A local favourite.
Went for lunch today - what a wonderful experience! The weather was nice and of course the view from the memorial and restaurant are great. What was a pleasant surprise was the fantastic food, great value for money, friendly staff and good service. The had a great food and beverage range to suit and delight every one in our party, and interesting daily specials. They are also dog-friendly which is both unusual and delightful, so well definitely be back and with our Pooches.
Wonderful, magical place. And the food is good too. The staff are the best. With big smiles they are super attentive and nothing us too much trouble.
Awesome in my backyard
Lovely place. When ever I go there I receive consistently good service and good food. They also have a dog friendly section and provide dog biscuits
The view is amazing. I recommend this restaurant as it is enjoyable to sit outside. It can get windy up there. There can be a queue to get in if you donβt book ahead. The desserts are deliciousβtry the cheese cake. This restaurant can be booked for weddings or other celebrations.
They are pet friendly! What an amazing group of staff they have. Friendly and energetic. Doggy biscuits and water available for your pooch almost on arrival. Not to mention the view.
Views: Great spot for coffee/tea with a view. Look out over the Cape Flats and towards Tygerberg and the Cape Fold mountains.Atmosphere: Open air with trees a plenty. Can be windy, pick a good weather day. Cosy and quaint inside the hut, but youll have to book.Service: Sometimes takes long.Products: Amazing cheesecakes and generously sized quiche!
I love this place. Lovely meals and a most beautiful and tranquil setting. Slightly pricier than the average casual restaurant but certainly not expensive. It does get nippy in the shade and the wind that often picks up up there but they do have blankets available but wise to bring a wind breaker with, just in case. It does get busy so for larger group booking or reservations are recommended. Child friendly, dog friendly, nature friendly and wonderful views. Ill be back every now and again.
A delightful spot with beautiful views over the city. The food is delicious and there is a lovely play area for children. Well worth a visit.
Great place for a tramazini and a coffee. The view is outstanding. Well worth a visit
