Great food, friendly staff and fair prices. Really worth to pop in, situated in Philadelphia it means experiencing such a beautiful small town. Just outside the outskirts of Cape Town, meaning its perfect for a quick Sunday getaway.Theres numerous restaurants, very beautiful church as well as a rock/gem shop with lovely gift items.
The Pepper Tree is one of those places we always stop at. The food is great and the atmosphere invites you to slow down, take it easy and rest from the road. I doubt many people would give Phillipi a glance except for this restaurant with its big shade tree and rustic charm. Its well worth a visit.
This is my favourite restaurant by far. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is always excellent!!! Friendly professional service. I suggest you reserve a table as they are always busy (because they are so popular!) well worth the drive out. Excellent value for money.
Always worth the visit. Good food and a very nice menu to choose from. Competitively priced and in general, the staff are friendly.
Nice relaxed casual spot in Philidelphia - had lunch under the trees outside. Friendly staff, great deserts, especially the chocolate mouse cake! Sadly my chicken salad was quite dry and desperately needed some tasty dressing. All they could offer was balsamic.
Love this place. Food allways great. Good Coffee and bonus! They have Gluten free treats❣❣❣ well worth a visit plus we could take our fur baby with😍
Lovely ambience and set up for a fun breakfast or lunch outing out in the small one man town. Lovely curio shops and setting.
We love coming here, and is just 20min or so from Bouberg! Food is delicious and value for money. Service today was a bit slow but always friendly ❤
Lovely outside venue for lunch, or tea and cake.Take your bug spray this time of year
Love the menu, the setting and friendly staff. Delicious food and the shop sells good quality food and products. This is a must of youre looking for good, healthy food.
The ambience is delightful. The food is fantastic and their small menu covers a good range of vegan and vegetarian options. The vegan cheesecakes and an absolute must.
We had their Veg Chef s special burger and a local cider afterwards we had their scones..... Food delicious and the Service was impeccable.. Will always come back.
The drinks menu has quality and varied choices - from delicious coffees and teas to local and craft beers and vino. Food wise the portions are generous and great value for money. Recommend the burgers, chicken salad or bobotie. Clean, quality food and sides. Inside the shop there are amazing art pieces, Coffees and home made condiments. The service is local and the staff are skilled and friendly. Book in advance for the best spots.
Awesome place to hang out and just relax, with healthy food and really friendly staff always going out of their way. Beautiful outdoor restaurant within a beautiful countryside town.
Nice restaurant,Great atmosphere. Beautiful trees, nice decoration, art pieces, organic fruits/vegetables from local farms, nice flowers, a nice bookshelf, bird feeder...So almost an art gallery + restaurant. We enjoyed the environment.Friendly staff.Very good food. One of rare restaurants with springbok shank. Homemade lemonade was nice too.I was expecting more fish on menu.Just an unleashed cat chasing birds wasn’t nice!
The apple crumble was the best weve tasted in a long time. Well be back!
Lovely drive out in the country, great food and very relaxing atmosphere
Lovely food and atmosfeer love the straw bales and birdfeeders
Love this place. Awesome everytime I go there.
This is a restaurant in Philidelphia, good service, good food, great coffee. It caters for vegan as well as meat eaters.Seems to be popular amongst the cyclists
The greatest vegetarian burger ever - great coffee .. Lovely to be there and experience the birds - trees - nature - water - lovely place - great vibe..
Amazing food! BEST KUDU BURGER EVER!
Havent been there for ages but OMG for such a relatively small eatery the menu is amazing. I give it 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟So happy to see the same familiar faces of the staff too. So relaxing. Thank you Pepper Tree.
Although the staff are all friendly, there is a long wait for food. The decor and setting is lovely and the food is tasty.
Best scones on this planet. Great service and really worth riding out there for a lovely experience
Excellent coffees and cakes in an attractive but casual outdoor space.
Absolutely Beautiful setting, food and service
Lovely place with a great menu, great variety of options to choose from. I had the chickpea& sweetpotato curry, loved it. They also have great dessert options
Bread seemed a bit stale otherwise nice. Stunning venue
Nice place, bit high on pricing.Food is of good quality however seldom what the menu offers is available, but it is written for choosing in any case. Example, you get a salad that supposed to have mushrooms, butternut and something else with nothing of the above, but olives to replace those three ingredients. That is frustrating, the waiters should inform you before, but they dont. The service is very bad for other reasons too, example they bring your plates of what people ordered separated by 5 minutes, so there is no chance to start eating together!Next time i will only order coffee!
Nice outside venu. Food is way overpriced. Had the Farmhouse. Two slices toast two poached eggs a few mushrooms and tomato and onion relish. R98. Latte R29.
Good food and wonderful outing. Will be back and ensure we have time to browse the surrounding shops.
Food very good but the portions are small
Friendly staff, and good service. Nice setting.
Food was delicious, friendly staff and GOOD COPMANY. It was a great experience.
Very healthy food servings and outstanding service.Well worth a visit.
Lovely breakfast in a really lovely setting in the Philadelphia village and really nice owners and staff. A simple menu but the food is very tasty...worth a visit.Walk around the village after your meal.
Lovely quaint restaurant with the most delicious food
Lovely setting, friendly service, delicious food
Lovely place to visit, whether just having coffee and cake or a meal, service is good and great atmosphere. Rustic setting is endearing.
The menu had a great variety and lunch was delicious, fresh and perfect for summer. The wait for our drinks and food was almost an hour though and we needed to follow up. So the service was very slow and not very on point but it was a pleasant outing sitting under the trees. There was a man from the street harassing patrons verbally, shouting at us, asking for money and cigarettes then scolding if one did not comply with his request. From what we coupd see, the venues management did not do anything to prevent him from doing so.
Lovely venue however too many challenges to make it a pleasant experience. Cheese platter is shockingly expensive for what it is. No value for money. The sprinkbok shank was lovely but did not arrive as described on the menu. Completely different veg with no notification from waitering staff when ordering. Service is extremely slow. Chocolate brownie is more of a cake with little to no chocolate flavour. Of great concern was management did not try and control covid protocols. A large group sitting together at one table, who appeared to be locals, were allowed to wander around the venue, bathrooms and shop without masks and far too little social distancing from other patrons and tables. 2 tables moved to avoid the large group wandering around. In addition staff periodically removed their masks. What a pity as our first visit was far more enjoyable. Given that so many restaurants are struggling to survive, the Pepper Tree would be advised to address these issues.
Lovely spot for an outdoor lunch. Great food at reasonable prices. The bobotie was delicious and hubbys springbok shank, melt in the mouth.
Wonderful open atmosphere protected above by a Bedouin tent. A wide variety available on the menu. The food is delicious and great value. Service is tops. Well worth the visit.
Best Apple Pie and friendly staff. Outdoors with tented roof. Perfect for these scary times. Just check opening times
Lovely place with excellent ambience. A definite must visit
Great venue, good food and relaxed ambiance. Highly recommended.
Lovely breakfast. Great service
Excellent vibe, excellent food and excellent service.
What a gem. Perfect coffee stop for cyclists. Food os good and staff very efficient
Wondefull Lemon Meringue pie but food was a let down.
Excellent service and food.
Great food and great location. Friendly and professional service. Coffee to die for. Will defenately visit again.
Excellent food and portions
My favourite place to eat in Philedalphia, love sitting under the pepper tree and just relaxing with a delicious cappucino!
Nice scones with all the trimmings
Fabulous venue and atmosphere. Great food! Close to Cape Town 🚙
A great find. Will definitely visit again
A sweet little restaurant. Those at my table enjoyed their meals and the cake another group was eating looked good. Found the lunch menu to be very limited. Vegan and gluten free options for those that require them, but those who cant have dairy either have to eat vegan or leave stuff out of their order. My burger was very average and somewhat disappointing considering its price tag. The potatoes on the side were cool and a little oilier than I would have liked.
The best food in the Cape!
Lovely peaceful atmosphere
I was very impressed and will go back. It was very hot and we had milkshake. Our first time at Philadelphia Western Cape
Most divine Chic & Mushroom Soup.
Nothing matches sitting under a longTime Pepper Tree if you cant find a peacefull Willow.
Excellent. Food is amazing, fresh and prepared with love. Seriously one of the best breakfasts to be found in Cape Town and surrounding areas. (I will try lunch next time :-)Love the small shop too, sells interesting health tinctures, olive oil, healthy snacks etc. They cater for all, from vegans to carnivores.Highly recommended.
Always have good food and awesome service...
A lovely place to have breakfast and refreshments. The little shop has a wonderful range of products, such as oils, eggs, jams etc, from local suppliers.I noticed that there were herbal products displayed which was a big seller. Apparently a lot of people give really high praise for the products benefits of helping their issues.
This is rural charm at its best. Under the shade of an enormous tree and a canvas canopy you are served the most inviting food. It is rustic in appearance, but the food is superb. One needs to exercise patience, but the waiting is worth it. It is a place to sit, relax and enjoy the food and atmosphere. There are various homemade items for sale in bottled fruit, coffees and many little trinkets. An interesting and peaceful experience.
Lovely rustic restaurant. The home made lemonade is good. Most seating is outdoors, so choose a nice day. Not sure if they are open in the evenings.
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! a lovely quiet place that fits just right as a family outing destination or stop over for lunch. Lovely ride over there in either your car or on the motorbike.
In the quint town of Philidelphia you find the Pepper Tree Art Stables. What a perfect place for a weekend outing. Very popular. Make sure to book a table. The breakfast and lunch menu is great. Was happy to see that there is options for vegans and vegeterians.
