What an amazing lunch we had. The staff was extremely friendly even though they were busy. The setting is absolutely beautiful. We were a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their food. Will definitely recommend this establishment and we will certainly be back.
Lovely atmosphere, kid & animal friendly! Exquisite food; cape malay curry was amazing as was the western mussel main
I made a reservation on 21st July for Sunday 1st August....only to arrive and not find my name on the list! We were however accommodated. It was a birthday lunch treat for a friend so I wanted everything to be perfect. Compliments to the chef and the amazing waitress! The food was amazing as was the service. Unfortunately I did not get the young ladys name, but am sure management can check on which table we were seated at. With her impeccable manners she will go far. We will definitely be back.
Beautiful restaurant - sitting outside, enjoying the view and the fine weather. Prompt, excellent service.
Fantastic food, good service, lovely venue. Worth visiting and using for special occasions.
Beautiful scenery, great simple menu with vegan options. Excellent cocktails and service.
Hosted function for 36 people..service..food..pleasant attentive staff all good.
This venue boasts with breathtaking views of the vineyards, mountains and ocean, the grounds are spacious, and perfect for any occasions or functions. There are also vineyard walking trails and its dog friendly too. The perfect place for a the entire family, pooches included to enjoy a Sunday morning breakfast, brunch or cake and coffee.
This place always good for a chilled lunch or brunch .love it.
Good service. Great view. Vegetarians ok.
Jonkershuis restaurant although situated in one of the most beautiful settings in Cape Town, manages to disappoint on more levels than one.The waiter forgot multiple things throughout the service from drinks to starters. Then we move on to mains, in my excitement I ordered the 28 day dry aged sirloin and asked for it to be done medium rare. The first steak I was given was well done, immediately upon showing this to the waiter it was taken away for replacement. I thought to myself, I am hungry but Id rather wait for the steak the way I ordered it.Out comes the replacement steak about 20 minutes later, unfortunately they must have been really really scared of over cooking this one as it was rare bordering on blue in parts. I was hungry so I ate the parts of it which were not blue and kept the rest to show the waiter if/when he shows up again. Upon his return when I presented the barely cooked piece of meat to him he shrugged and said oh sorry about that. No offer to replace it, no offer to take the steak off the bill, not even a sincere apology.Something else to note - both steaks looked like they were many days past their prime. Also the sear left much to be desired and was something that youd expect has been done by an amateur home cook rather than a professional chef!My only regret is that I didnt take a picture of the food to share with all of you
What a spectacular place to visit! Great food, great vibe and breathtaking views! Recommend to anyone who want to have a good time!
Had a good experience with very supportive and attentive servers.
Under the oak trees with a view of False Bay is the lovely Jonkershuis. Inside are fireplaces, while outside its ample place for children and dogs. As its at the oldest wine farm in South Africa, you can go for a stroll around the estate after your lunch
Very interesting place. Beautiful surroundings.
We normally stop here for breakfast when doing the Red Bus City Sightseeing route. You can sit inside or outside. The Jonkershuis is a very old building. We enjoy their breakfast and coffee.
Food did not disappoint. Service is excellent. Happy to find affordable wine on the menu.
Fabulous food wine service and setting.
Yum food, good service...But, completely overpriced. Not value for money. You cant charge 5 star prices because of the setting. No table cloths, just raw tressel tables, not even sanitized, and washing up cloth for napkins. Too expensive for the very inexpensive setting, even though we had a booking. Wont be rushing back.
Great place to be where people meet. Protocols observed. Excellent service and good food. Awesome view
I LOVED my steak! My entire experience at Groot Constantia was thoroughly enjoyable. You might see a baboon or two while dining outside during lunch. If the baboons happen to swipe your plate of food, the restaurant will happily make you a fresh plate at no extra charge. Now thats service! Loved it!
Great place! Beautiful views, delicious food! The service is impeccable 👌
Cindy, absolutely made, our dining experience remarkable. She delivered an exceptional service,by means of going above and beyond.food was amazing an added bonus
Beautiful, tranquil setting. Afternoon tea with scones and cakes were splendid. Great service. Thanks
Great service and beautiful views. Great venue for picnics as well.
Jonkershuis is such a gorgeous, atmospheric restaurant located in a historic building on Groot Constantia estate. The history practically seeps from the walls and its terrace of ancient oaks (with vineyard views) is simply magical. The food and service is top notch: honest, real, simply delicious, and proudly South African. I havent had a meal there that has sent me home anything less than satisfied. Wine? Groot Constantia of course!
The view over the vineyards is stunning. Fortunately we got a window seat as the outside seating was booked out early. The food was good but I expected more. Great coffee and good service. I will definitely go again and make more time to take a walk as the surrounds are well worth spending time there.
We had fantastic service!
Great views, nice food, friendly people and very good food.
This was the second time I ate here in the past month. The first time we were in a party of 4 and we were all disappointed although the service was good. This time the food was cold and the service was poor. Very disappointed
Fabulous. COVID compliant. Best hamburger ever. Serene ambiance. Thank you
Great place overall for Sunday lunch or I guess any day of the weekThe setting is amazing. The service is top notch. The food is to die for. The network on your mobile phone non existent and the WiFi is free but does not work! Was looking forward to give 5 starts but in this day and age to not have good strong(free) working WiFi is a definite fail. The Groot Constantia Wines on the menu was the most expensive on the menu??? Yet we are on the farm that is producing the wine? I am not sure that is the right approach? Other than a few issues it is a mind blowing experience.
Had a great time. Very intimate setting, especially at night. Well worth a visit.
This is one exceptional restaurant with a great breakfast and lunch/dinner menus. Quite honestly a well thought out menu with varied not too many over kill options but enough for all customers. The vegan options are particularly great too. However the menu with great starters to the main and desert is mind blowing good. The food is a culinary delight with great taste and for sure the ambience is amazing. Good service, friendly staff and of course great wine choices. Expect to pay about $17 upward per person for a great experience. Highly recommended this place.
Good service and exellent wines. Especially the Goewerneurs Reserve
Really good quality food, beautiful place for the whole family to enjoy
Superb service... Great food
Best place to celebrate my dads birthday
A great selection of traditional favourite light meals, expertly prepared. Located on the Groot Constantia Estate its very well positioned to allow for a most pleasant atmosphere and view of the main avenue approaching the old estate house. The food was well priced
Beautiful venue. Great view. We just had coffee on the grass but I have had dinner here long ago that was lovely.
A hostile hostess and over-priced average food.Honestly, what an outdated menu. The hostess was abrupt and terribly unfriendly toward us and some other elderly ladies enquiring about a table. The portions were not great and a bit bland (fusilli and caesar salad).Great news is that its dog-friendly and if you have Tenji as your waitress you might just have a nice time after all.
A great breakfast spot in a tranquil setting, surrounded by the beautiful Groote Constantia vineyards.
Outstanding quality of food. Everything we ordered was beyond delicious. We actually came back twice on the same day, first for lunch then for the dessert. The restautant is huge and perfect for a cosy meal for two or for a group get together. All staff that served us were really helpful. Service was quite quick, we managed to order, eat and pay for lunch in 40mins.
Sitting outside makes for a beautiful setting for breakfast or lunch.Visited twice recently.Lunch was great - service, food and ambience, even with a light drizzle, couldnt be faulted. So much so my brother was ready to visit again the following week.We did breakfast 2nd time around - service not quite as on point, but still a pleasant meal, this time with sunshine.
Beautiful views and wonderful food and wine. Worth checking out once covid restrictions are lowered
The lovely white waitress gave us extra special care and service.. well doneSome of the other staff couldnt care less and simply say no to a question of seating, because its less trouble for them...and just a job they have to get throughFood splendid, quite expensive
Beautiful view over the wine yards, good service and AWESOME food - stay here if you’re coming with the “Red wine bus”! :)
Food was quite nice. We were inside and I struggled to hear conversations due to the hard surfaces reflecting sounds. Might be my age showing though :)
Always busy and buzzing restaurant set in the oldest wine farm in South Africa. Gourmet food for all tastes. Ive always managed to get a table without a reservation, however Id recommend making a booking for larger groups.
Here you can find traditional South African dishes. Reservation is preferable. A very friendly team even-so this is the touristic place where lots of busses arrive. Enjoy sitting outside if weather permits.
Lovely views, peaceful atmosphere, my son explored with his cousin while the adults relaxed. Beautiful for picnics and sitdown alike, tasteful food
Excellent food and wines. Also a nice museum to visit.Tasting was also nice and funny (see picture)
Lovely Cape Malay food sitting under the trees. Came away with some wine too!
Jonkershuis is a beautiful restaurant in Groot Constantia. The oldest wine farm in South Africa. Experience the African menu with Cape Maley curries and other selections. Great service and beautiful location
Great food and excellent service as usual 👌
Spier was beautiful and classy. Felt the light show a bit of a disappointment but understandable with covit restrictions for artists and displays alike. A great evening out. Day visits are also great. Great value on the wine and cheese platters
Beautiful scenery. Excellent service. Great, overpriced breakfast. The did not serve coffee that day, which was disappointing to my friends. Busy, booking is essential. Seems to be a favourite local hotspot.
Wow just wow. The food was incredible and I will be back. Upper price range but well worth it!
Beautiful setting, food was excellent and the service was good.
Nice outdoor sitting area, use to be bigger, food not bad, a bit pricey.
Beautiful surrounds and historical site. Prices for food are at the top end but the atmosphere and surrounds are worth it
Loved it, beautiful setting, beautiful food, excellent service
Such a peaceful spot and the food is amazing, friendly staff and great service
Went for lunch today, restaurant has amazing scenery, relaxing atmosphere and the food was just amazing. Pork neck and milktart was absolutely amazing. Looking forward to coming back.
Serving well prepared food and tasty! 2nd time here and definitely going again!
The atmosphere was amazing. Truly one of the tastiest lunches Ive had in a long time. The menu had so many choices to choose from. I can highly recommend the curry platter and pork belly which was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth. We sat outside under ancient shady trees overlooking the grape vines everywhere. All in all a lovely experience - Ill be back for more.
My company organised a festive dinner here. Everything was exquisite, the table arrangement really nice and the views to the city breathtaking. Food was yummy and there was also a dessert buffet. Not to mention the wine :) - amazing.
Delicious food, but not really creative, and it didnt look like all that much effort was put in despite the price. Also the building was nice inside, but we had no view at all.
