My experience at Ginja was nothing short of amazing, the food was absolutely delicious, my partner and I prompted for the prawn special which included a bottle of wine, 16 prawns, salad AND bread, for only R550??Though we had a waiter who KEPT asking when we were going to finish with our meal, which was quite annoying and rude, she asked a total of 4 times DURING our meal. And when we were finally finished, she cleared the table and left us for about 30 minutes to hunt her down for the bill. Mind you, we were only there for 3 hours and the restaurant was quite empty 🤦🏽♀️But either way, please do give Ginja a try! It was a real culinary experience! And the ambience is PERFECT for a date! 🤭 or if you want to impress the in-laws 😅😂
I shared a delicious meal here with my fiancée on Sunday night. We had the prawn and wine combo and it was superb - beautifully presented, tasty and more than enough food for two of us. The restaurant was cosy and comforting. The fireplaces and the music selection were a huge hit with us. Our waiter, Sylvester, was friendly, knowledgeable and provided excellent service from start to finish! We will both be recommending Ginja to everyone that we know...
Had my birthday breakfast here and I enjoyed every bit. The restaurant is very beautiful and well decorated. They have heaters for the cold weather. We had a breakfast buffet which consists of both sweet and savory dishes. You can choose from a cold buffet or a hot breakfast. The food was good and the staff very friendly. I can truly say that I had a great experience and I am glad I chose Ginja Restaurant to start off my birthday morning.
Nice views, good service. Just a warning when ordering their Tbone special, we ordered medium well and it was too dry and had no taste even the quality of it didnt feel right. mushroom sauce also had no taste. Salad with warm veges was nice
Waited an absurdly long time for a burger and fish and chips, service was terrible, food was sub-average and overpriced. Only good thing about this restaurant is the location.
Thank you to Simon for great service... Its not often you go to a restaurant and the waiter is so clued up on his wine and meat knowledge.. food was outstanding and this is a must for locals and foreigners... Definitely will be back!! Thank you
Came here and more than half of menu is not available. No flat breads. No smoothies. No fish. And their menu is basically 2 pages , so theres very, very little left to choose from . This squid meal is so small for its price.... And they had to redo it because they didnt make it right from the first try
Amazing restaurant! First day in Cape Town and found this restaurant right on the seashore. Food was outstanding and staff were attentive and friendly. If you get the opportunity to go do not miss out their burgers! The place was classy and uniquely decorated, combining all sorts of styles but keeping it simple.
One of my favourite spots! Great food, good service and the most amazing view!
Great little restaurant. Food is prepared in a typical elegant Cape Town fashion. The cocktails and beer are great with a wide variety to choose from. There are also wine and beer tastings offered at a reasonable price. The wine collection is also great with something for everyone. There is also a lovely coffee bar for mornings or simply after dinner or just on the go. The view and vibe experience is most notable being in the heart of the waterfront you can experience the lovely mountains as well as the harbour life. There is outside seating, although that is mostly for summer days or winter days that have a good bit of sun.
We ordered our steak to be cooked as medium well but we received it well done!!.. we had to wait for about 30min so we had to eat it anyhow and reported this issue to the manager but she did not do any help, and she was asking rudely where is the steak now!!
Really enjoyable meal at Ginja. The staff were lovely and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and the decor very stylish. The restaurant is situated right on the waterfront, as is associated with the Victoria and Albert Hotel. This makes it very convenient for guests of the hotel. The menu was full of great options although some of them weren’t available on the day. The drinks were great, particularly the draught beer options. Very reasonable prices.
The interior is simple but I had a lovely cauliflower soup here.
One of the most amazing, relaxing, happiest and friendly place Ive ever been to. We won a competition for Valentines Day and the staff treated us with the best service I have ever seen! What an amazing experience, with an amazing view and brilliant atmosphere. I deffinatly recommend this to anyone looking for a great relaxing date with your special other half!
I had the worst experience my food was salty I left without eating. I dont think Ill ever go there again
Great place and makes amazing coffee and hot chocolate. The food is good, expensive but tasty.
Great quality food, beautiful restaurant, and stunning views. Would highly recommend sitting outside staring at the mountain on a quiet day in the V & A waterfront!
Ginja offers a Continental Breakfast at R195, an English Breakfast at R260 and a few options as A La Cart. I feasted on the French toast with honey smothered bacon, fresh berries and blue berry jam, washed down with a cuppachino. My mom had the Salmon Rosti and filter coffee. Both delicious. Being a hotel the prises might seem a bit steep, but service, food and coffees were impeccable. They even have a beer tasting option and a variety of gins.
Food was great. Love the atmosphere and live guy singing. It was a fantastic experience.
1st visit today, amazing venue and the food was excellent. Variety for breakfast, good value for money. Definitely be back. Stunning views of Table Mountain. What more can you ask for, stunning start to the weekend.
Wow,great customer service the waiter there who was helping was very nice food was great my drink and food came right on time.I felt more appreciated by the staff beautiful Waterfront views, being able to outside and take beuatiful pictures of the outside view through their glass windows.
Fantastic service, food, view
My husband and I opted for drinks and tasting plates. We were both feeling a bit down and suffering with backaches and didnt even have much of an appetite. My husband tried the Moerkoffie Stout and I had a mango juice. We loved the atmosphere and the food. The staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. I certainly felt a whole lot better after my tasting plate. We will visit here again when we are in CT next as the rest of the menu looked very appealing.
Great vibe, looks amazing, great food and service. The views are out of this world.
Great menu and bar. Super friendly and efficient staff 🍻
The meal was fabulous. good service
Restuarnt and bar is top notch and it has some amazing views and your able to sit right on the water for sundowner but unfortunately the coffee shop is waaaay overpriced as we stopped to get 2 salads and a sandwich and that came up to R240, really ? For takeaways? And after that the salads and sandwich was terrible. Dont go to the coffee shop rather get a drink and sit at the waters edge
Lovely view overlooking the waterfront harbour. good food and service
It’s not quite “The best breakfast in Cape Town” for R120 single poached egg on a half muffin with a square of cooked salmon. Benedict also is supposed to imply hollandaise, not simply lemon butter.
I had an amazing seafood platter dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine. Food was great, service was excellent. Ambience and view was awesome. I’m glad I chose Ginja.
Unique experience for something different and healthy
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional service. Id go back over and over again!!
Lovely squid starter. The waiters were so pleasant. Evening was amazing. Definitely try the coffee.
Dinner was great. Staff friendly and helpful.
I was thoroughly disappointed with how we were treated at this establishment. We entered the restaurant at the espresso bar entrance, ordered our cappuccinos and asked if we could sit down. The table was filthy and not a single waitress, although 4 passed us, asked us if we had been helped or needed anything. The gentleman brought us our cappuccinos and we asked if he could wipe it down for us. Following this noone came to check on us but checked on ALL the other patrons at the restaurant which was basically empty. When we were ready to leave the barista came to check on us (which is was extremely too late) we requested the bill, we paid for our cappuccinos and left. Very little care for Covid protocols as we filled in the guest list, checked our temperature and sanitized ourselves. So sad considering I had wanted to visit the restaurant for my birthday. I will not be coming back or recommending Ginja to anyone.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing view, excellent service
Lovely atmosphere, great food, friendly and excellent service!
Ordered beetroot latte, charged R46, but board states R38... Received an apology for incorrect pricing....the system is correct. My husband ordered a flat white, but was only informed that the power was down and no coffee when my latte was brought to the table. He got a refund and now watch me having my beetroot latte.Very disappointing service.😲
Staff member (waiter) was, arrogant, aggressive and rude in the manner of hes approach. The waiter was unprofessional, making it vehemently clear that hotel guests get treated very differently to walk in guest. Poor customer service. After discussing the incident with senior management who seems to be resting(over confident) on the notion(illusion) that they have been running the business for 27 years with exemplary service.Suggestion: train all your staff members to treat all guests(walk in and in house) equally, instead of segregating them, both your staff and guests. . Sort it out from the Top Down.
Youd think a place called Ginja would at least make drinks well... apparently not. They made 4 mistakes across 2 drinks, both of which were meant to be double vodka on the rocks with lime wedges:1. First one they put in two dashes of like cordial so it was all sugar2. The second one was layered limes, vodka, then ice on top (see photo)3. Turns out they were both single vodkas, not doubles4. They charged me for both cordial dashes which I told them immediately I didnt want
Great friendly service And a beautiful setting , but the food lacks considerably.Had the mushrooms that were overcooked on the inside , polenta fries were under seasoned, and the cheesy corn tasted like baby purée , my hubby ordered the sirloin steak , and requested it well done , it arrived at the table medium rare,We would have sent all the food back but we were dining with our baby and did not want to add extra time to our meal. The all day dining menu is also quite limited. Pity the food is not as great as the friendly and great service. I won’t be back for seconds.
Excellent breakfast! Lovely view, watch out for the seagulls!
Went for a meeting. Great venue and friendly staff. Cannot comment on menu.
Delicious food. Excellent service.
Excellent fish curry with a view! Ill be back!
Food was slightly above average. Calamari main was delicious but a tiny portion at 7 tubes and 2 tentacles at R175. The huge portion of poorly cooked sweet potato fries did not compensate for it. Starter portions are usually 5 tubes. Ribs were well cooked but under sauced. 750g @ R245 is reasonable but there are several places that deliver better quality and value. Completely underwhelming service and food in my opinion. Our waiter was either poorly trained or really hates his job. View and setting get 5 stars, food and service barely scrape a 3.5.
Our team came to Ginja for a team dinner and from the beginning Melvin and his colleagues were awesome, I would like to give a special shout out to Melvin and Sebastian for the excellent service. Not only did Melvin keep our drinks flowing, constantly checking up on us and making sure that we were fed with the delicious food and our doggy bags were packed beautifully, him and Sebastian kept us very entertained. I hope management realizes and appreciates how awesome these two gentlemen are and they deserve all the awards and a raise! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. Thank you Melvin and Sebastian for a wonderful experience!
Wow what an amazing restaurant had the fish of the day which was Sea Bass, so tender. Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and great food. Would absolutely recommend this place. Also they do an amazing Mocha....enjoy!!
Highly recommended excellent service excellent food!We had the full baked fish and was amazed from the flavors and portion. Our waiter Raymond was extremely professional very nice and helped us with whatever we needed even though we had some special requests.Don’t miss out on this one!And please say hi to Rimon for us
Great service and views.
My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVED this restaurant!! The food was amazing, really great portion sizes and our server Sylvester was amazing! He very personable and stayed to chat with us for a while, teaching us about the area! Was a great experience and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice date night dinner, with good food, good service and good prices!
The Tapas meals were great and was all we had seeing as though we werent that hungry. Springbok carpaccio and firecracker prawns were my favourite. Great place to sit with a view of the mountain with a nice selection of first rate Gins
All the food we ate here was excellent, whether from the tasting menu or the regular menu. The presentation was first class and we were very happy with our meals. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. We would not hesitate to dine here again.
Enjoyed a super first meal out on South Africa in beautiful weather with table mountain view as backdrop. All our food was delicious, plentiful , served in a relaxed manner by very welcoming server. After eating and drinking here we all felt in holiday mood and that our SA adventure had definitely started.
Very nice place at V&A waterfront, very casual and amazing food, also best staff ever. Thanks a mil.
