Sunday morning. Lovely setting, but hard to recommend. Feel really sorry for the waitrons. Coffee station very slow with getting orders out. Less than 50% of the tables occupied and still waited more than 30min for two cups of coffee. First set of toasted bread mouldy, but they did take it back immediately. Looks like the place lacks management and a critical eye.

Early morning brekkie with Kimantha our hostess adding to the hospitality. What a delightful and hearty experience. COVID measures are all in place and lots of attention to detail.

What a delightful surprise it was stumbling upon this restaurant. Great quality fine food at reasonable prices. Gorgeous presentations. (Clearly were used to big city prices for mediocre quality). A Must Visit!

This restaurant has the potential to be THE goto place in Riebeeck Valley.The seating outside and inside are cosy.The bar is slightly disarrayed with bottles standing all over.The menu is a fully comprehensive menu with everything your heart desires.There was no manager in sight on our visit on 3 October and the waitresses were running around trying to be friendly and helpful.The food was adequate but the cheese platter needed more finesse for the price.Keep up the good work and waiter training can only benefit this gem🤗🤗

Food was unbelievably tasty. I had the seafood pasta. Butternut and feta phylo pastry for my wife.We will return.Nice location, a short walk from the town centre.

Staff and friendly and courteous with a nice atmosphere and a nice place to have a Sunday breakfast.

Food was average. Very small portions for the price. Waited around 12min just for drinks. 4 of us ordered soft poached eggs, all of them were rock hard. Coffee milkshake was basically cold milk with coffee flavour. Had to wait 15min just for the bill. Very nice setting and location but poor service.

I have had the privilege of frequenting The Bay Leaf & Thyme on a couple of occasions. Never been disappointed. The menu and wine list offers a range of delightful options. What brings me back, apart from the culinary experience, undoubtedly is the friendly, intimate way the professional staff runs the restaurant. Kimantha and her colleagues is the soul of the place, and makes the experience a delightfull occasion. I wish them only the best in these trying times. Great pizza, good service but the wine is pricey

Everything started amazing. Good food, good weather, everything perfect. Then a pitbull that was straying on the street before ran into the restaurant and came to our table. As we made the waitress aware of that she just said Don’t worry about the dog!.Are you serious about that? Is your venue a zoo/school canteen or a restaurant?We left immediately and we will most probably not come back.

We were looking for a place to eat on a Monday Night, notoriously not very popular night in the catering industry, Bay Leaf & Thyme exceeded our expectations, the food was excellent and the service outstanding. Do yourself a favour and order the seafood platter..really good

One of my favourite spots to unwind and enjoy some good food.

This is a cute place in the beautiful Ribeeck Kasteel, with much potential. The service at the start was very slow...it took almost 10 minutes to order a drink. The food was okay...I had a pepperoni pizza and the mozzarella as rubbery and not completely melted. My partner had a burger and chips - the chips were good. Nice and crispy and fluffy, but the burger was average. Not bad. Not good. I personally would give this place one more try to see if they just had a bad day.

Fabulous food, very very friendly Ladies and beautiful venue.

After sitting down for 15 min the waitress brought our main course. It was a seafood platter with 2 glasses of wine. Wasnt halfway through the first glass when the main course arrived. When we told the waitress that were not ready to eat yet ( wanted to enjoy the live band and vibe) she in a very rude way told us that we orderd and we must eat now. We send the platter back to the kitchen. After deliberation and out of fear for retribution from the staff we drank our wine, paid for it and left. What should have been a 1-2hour romantic evening was ruined. Will not return.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Wonderfully decorated tables, thoughtful, very interesting and educational booklet with the international history thanksgiving story was given to the patrons and wonderful food. The turkey was delicious and so were all other dishes. Class act! Definitely the place to book your next culinary visit to the Riebeek valley...

Charming, stylish and tasty spot, unexpectedly sophisticated and with very well prepared food. My chicken pot pie was outstanding, with crisp, flaky crust and full of tender, creamy chicken. Excellent value too. Delightful to sit near the fire on a chilly winters evening. A real find, and a gem.

Omg such an awesome place to dine, food is superb and very generous portions. Have to go back there again.

Beautiful neat restaurant with a pleasant, open and minimalistic design and decor. Comfortable seating area with a fireplace for those cold winter days. Owners seem very friendly and caring. You get the sense they are passionate about food and the local wines of the area. Menu priced for tourist rather than a local go-to lunch spot, but food quality is great.

Best eggs benedict. Trust me I drive every second Saturday for breakfast there. Been to 36 countries. Completems to the chef!

One of Riebeek Kasteels hidden gems. They had the nicest and most friendliest staff. Cant wait to go back.

What a lovely place!!! Our waitress was so sweet and accommodating and they are dog friendly, they brought water and doggy biscuits and made chicken for our dog it was a lovely eve. We had the starter mezze platter which was huge . Will definitely recommend this lovely spot for lunch or dinner !!!

The ambience here is quite stylish, there is a nice fire to heat the cockles on a chilly autumn day. The Meze Platter was excellent. Good service and a pleasant experience overall except that they used long life milk for their cafe latte, which is not my cup of coffee.

Lovely place & staff but portions WAAAY too large. My delicious lamb chop meal comprised five large chops. I ate one & took four away with well over half of my veg & chips. The meal lasted me two further full evening meals at home. Likewise my husbands koftas. Optional portions for normal appetites please B&T?

Its our 3rd Sunday breakfast there....on our 🏍 ride....breakfast was cold and really not up to their usual standard, so will be going across the road again next time.

Good vibe, but I didnt really enjoy the ribs. Going to taste the brekkie now. I am so happy they have eggs Benedict and French toast. Not many outside tables in the smoking area. They serve their Jeigermeister in the hugest shot glass. It was basically a triple!! Lots of wine to choose from and they were the only open place on Christmas day in the whole town

The food was excellent. The staff are still learning the ropes. Understandable as this is a new restaurant. Excellent decor. Will definitely come back.

We enjoyed the 1st Friday Seafood Platter, good portion control & well prepared with excellent tartar sauce. Being an ex Michelin Inspector there a few observations.. my Wifes Hamburger was fine but the bun was little dry. On the Sticky Toffee was reheated in microwave as it was very hot in the middle, no toffee sauce and swimming in custard. The Panacotta had good wobble but downed in berry sauce. The coffee though excellent was way too strong for cappuccino. Pleasant service wonderful fresh decor but terrible reppro portraits of actors. Bay Leaf&Thyme will be a regular place for us.
