The Royal Eatery sold the most divine hamburgers Ive ever had. Simply delicious. When in Cape Town, you have to pay them a visit over lunch time and enjoy one of their many different types of burgers. You wont regret it.

Bun is dry and cold and doesnt taste fresh at all. Glossiness of the bun makes it look homemade but it tastes mass produced. The ground beef pattie was tasty but too small. No meaty juices to be seen to help relieve the dryness of the bun. This is definitely not a burger joint worth visiting if you are a real burger fan!

Burgers were awesome. Milkshakes were amazing. This is a must do when going to Cape Town.

Bucket list tick that doesn’t impress much. I came for the burgers and stayed for the milkshake. The atmosphere is casual and quaint with windows showing the bustling Long Street outside. My waitress was left in charge of my burger and milkshake. The MS was a lemon meringue and it was amazing. Tart and sweet at the same time. Pity about the environmentally destructive doubly straws though. The burger came quickly with cold sweet potato chips which were sent back and replaced with a piping hot set. Of course by this time the burger was cold... it was not a big burger. Very much a thinnish patty with a lot of dressing on it. It was ok. The milkshake was great. First time. Last time

Veg burger is amazing... the beetroot +Feta combination is amazing... but its not their specialty to get the best shaken margarita... Vibe is very cosy and cute for couples or intermit friends of max 4.

I got some chicken burger and sweet potato fries and a large strawberry milkshake (non. Vegan one).I got the burger with pineapple which is a weird combination but it worked well, credit to the chef. The sweet potato fries were lacking taste. Even with salt they were still a little bland. The milkshake was excellent. Truly very thick and could definitely work as a meal itself for those with small stomachs.Overall, the place loses a star because of the fries. Otherwise, its a good place for burgers and shakes with lots of options for meat eaters and vegan folks.

Definitely the best vegetarian burger I have ever tasted.. And I really am not a veggie person but I have been back and ordered it more than one.. Now that screams Aaaawwwwesome!! But the best is yet to come.. Pudding and there milkshakes definitely brings all the boys.. And girls to the Royal 👑 Eatery.. I love I crave them and sometimes I just need to have them.. But hey go taste them for your self. They also serve interesting chips, fish cakes and burgers that even a lamb will not be able to resist.. When you walk down Long street you deserve a Royal treat

Nice & funky place, very friendly service and good food. Location is in the middle of the city center in a busy but nice street. Place looks empty but the balcony is large and was full. This is the place that surprises you positively when you are going for a simple dinner.

I am surprised at the negative reviews about the Vegan and Vegetarian burgers. Ive been coming here for years and have never been disappointed by the vegan cheeseburger or the vegan do it burger. Meal size is generous even for a big guy and the ingredients, especially the garnish, is good quality and fresh! milk shakes are also outstanding.

Ok, so I like this place, and my husband is determined to bring me here every weekend for bonding time and Seattle (his obsession), but I am duly disappointed in the food choices at Royale Eatery, where we brought our son for breakfast. I had convinced myself that they really ought to be options available here, but alas. Last weeks soya patty was...meh...sour? Just something wrong. So, halaal options were near non-existent. The waitress/cook had a nonchalant indifference to my queries about meat and chicken and there is absolutely no seafood option. At the moment of writing this, they are at least 3 other Muslim customers/families in the establishment. Come in, this is Cape Town. The management really ought to be a little more woke to their client base. My poor rating is out of frustration and an unsatisfied tummy.

Lekker burger...really nice paddies with a special taste, you don’t find often. Chorizo and coriander is a good mix you should try. They also have nice beer and a good service. Mojito should also be good...haven’t tasted, but my neighbors.Prices are average to bit pricey...still worth the money 💰 ✌️

Was here last year... cute atmosphere! Had a nice patio spot upstairs. Their menus are super cute too! Burger was delicious but their fries are different! Wish I had been able to have my usual go-to of crispy sweet potato fries.

We were very upset upon arrival as we drove all the way and were told straight to our faces that they are closed and it was only 8h15. Why does the site say closing time at 9pm when they cannot even bother to make 2 milkshakes for people who come often. Would it really have killed to make 2 milkshakes as a takeaway?

Saturday night, we had two cocktails, two classic burgers and Dom Pedro/Irish coffee for Dessert. The Ginger Mojito was fantastic - very tasteful. Both Burgers were great (Hawain Piggy and Mozzarella) A little bit dissapointed in the frozen fries, expected real chips. But it was tasty and the fabulously tasty Burger made up for it. Service a little bit slow, but once again friendliness and quality food made it a minor concern. Waitress/manager went out of their way to make us a Dom Pedro and an Irish Coffee which was not on the regular menu. All round a great experience with great view of the Long street nightlife. Highly recommended for a decent Burger.

This place is incredible. The service was excellent the food was beyond stellar, the atmosphere is supremely comfortable! I had the blue cheese royale with bacon and an espresso malt. Just perfect after a long day on the mountain. I will definitely be back. Visited 24/02/2020 6:30-7:30p best place I’ve been to on Long street so far.

A lovely restaurant in the City Centre on the bustling Long str. Caters for all tastebuds and their Vegan Milkshakes are to die for.

I took a date here, and we both enjoyed ourselves. The hostess was a bit snippy with us, but our waitress was chatty and sweet.The milkshakes are just as good as everyone says! Its a bit pricey, but the food is yummy! All in all, a good meal.

The food here is amazing, from the well made sweet potato chips and endless options of veg burgers. The options here are great and the quick service is provided by friendly waiters. I would definitely recommend vegetarians and vegans visiting this restaurant. The vibe is relaxing and is great for dinner dates. It also good for groups (of about 10). I had an amazing meal and was quite happy with paying the price for it, all well worth it.

Love this place. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time (maybe ever), so good we ordered another one to share. The beef is flavoursome and juicy, the bun is light, and they do some delicious toppings which made it really hard to choose. There was a nice little cocktail list and we had a good bottle of wine as well. The staff are super friendly and helpful, searching all over for a cork for us so we could take the wine home! Will definitely go back.

The size and taste of their hamburgers are extremely worth it, this is what makes it worthwhile buying a hamburger from them. . Also a huge selection of various craft beers and ciders also available. Inside seating is tight and not very spacious. They have only 1 toilet in the rest rooms and it doesnt even have a toilet seat.

The food and service were so very good! The chicken burgers were prepared very well and they offered sides you could mix (I had salad and fries, my wife had sweet potato fries and regular fries) properly portioned and expertly prepared! I will return there on each visit.

Cannot recommend this place more!We stayed in Cape Town 6 nights. We ate here 3 times. We would have eaten here 4 times, but they were closed on Sundays.Between 3 of us, we tried 6 different burgers, as well as a pizza and salad. The burgers were all excellent! Superb attention to detail with the flavours. The pizza was great, as was the salad, but the burgers were the absolute star of the show.Oh, also their cocktails are fantastic, and well priced, and the shakes were delectable. Order a regular sized shake, and youll be convinced that they messed up your order and gave you a large (I checked the bill, and still cant believe it).Go here often.

An old classic on Long St but still going strong for burgers and milkshakes (they have pizzas too). Choose between 10 classic burgers, a dozen or so of gourmet burgers and maybe 8 speciality burgers. Add to that a dozen or so milkshakes to make your US-style retro diner experience great. Some of the seating is even in booth stalls. Dont come here for chic but for great burgers in authentic setting only. Enjoy!

An amazing place for any meal in the city, especially burgers and milkshakes! The staff are wonderful and there are so many options for almost any type of diet (including plant-based and vegetarian). The upstairs dining area is tastefully done, and tables up there are usually open to reservations only (so you should definitely make one!). The downstairs dining area is a bit more relaxed, and only accept walk-ins. I will definitely be back!

Royale Eatery makes the best burgers, purely based on the variety of their ingredients and toppings, and their inclusive menu! You wont struggle to find something to eat here if you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerant or lactose intolerant - they have something for everyone! Their menu is so expansive that I always try something new, because everything looks so good and it is always impossible to choose! Ask for mixed sweet potato and regular fries and be sure to try their iconic sour cream with the sweet chilli sauce - it is a winner! Also, they have the best milkshakes (even vegan ones and boozy ones) and really original cocktails too.

Let me tell you exactly what happened here. We are chilling at Manhattans on Hudson Street taking full advantage of the 2 for 1 special when diverse friend number one says food. So we call up the Manhattans menu and no shade to Manhattans (see review for Manhattans) there was nothing there. Different but equally diverse friend then says lets go to Burger Royale (obviously she was already well sauced by the numerous cranberry long Island ice teas coz it aint even called that). God I wish I could voice note this. Long story short Im the fussy one in the group but I ended up finishing my meal first, sitting next to the prettiest girl Ive ever seen and giving this spot a 5 star.Edit: prettiest girl is now my girlfriend.

Every time I’ve been to Royal I’ve really enjoyed the burgers. They’ve got all the classics and some other interesting and weird combinations of their own. They also do really nice cocktails I had a mango and mint slushie drink thing. The waiters are really friendly and the prices are reasonable. I also didn’t have to wait too long for my burger

I absolutely loved it! The food was great, the atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is fair. Its a vegans paradise and if you have gluten or any other allergies they have something that you can eat!

I really like this place. Their food is amazing.BUT last time we visited they were out of stock of everything. Every drink we wanted to order was out of stock and the waited did not mention this before hand. She waited till we wanted it, went to the bar, and came back to tell us they dont have it. This routine repeated itself about 4 times before we all had a drink we were okay with but wasnt our first or second or even third choice.

The widest array of vegan and vegetarian burgers that I have ever come across. Get the soy cheeseburger for a trip down meaty memory lane, or opt for any of the multitudes of burgers that DO NOT try to mimic meat. Fantastic service and intoxicating vibe. Highly recommend.
