I stayed here in 2017, and I remember it so fondly that Ill share my experiences. The rooftop terrace is the best feature, since it offers city and mountain views (pic attached). The bar is great, and the complimentary breakfast is ample. The location is pretty good; there are many shops and restaurants nearby. The staff is so friendly, and I felt right at home. Thank you so much for this experience! I know where Ill stay next time.

Home away from home. There is no place like HomeBase. Welcomed by friendly helpful staff into a clean homely environment. Well located in close proximity to tourist attraction, restaurants bars, transport etc on the ever lively Long street. If you want to relax, just chill on the rooftop n enjoy a cold beer or wine from the bar while watching the Sun disappear behind the Lions Head...

Very good for a backpackers. Professional, efficient staff. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Good security measures, so you feel safe despite being in the heart of the Mother City. Nice view from the balcony.

Good location to get around but dodgy area outside. They have new and old rooms. Rooftop was super chill and well priced bar, cheaper than anywhere else. Dinners were good and well priced. The chef always hooked it up! Breakfast included is average but its there. Facilities were nice. Staff was cool and friendly, helpful.

Great experience. Stayed in the hostel for 5 nights and loved the at home feeling provided by the staff members. Would not have changed it for another hostel. Always clean and safe and it is a good, yet walking distance, from the happenings of Long Street. I definitely recommend HomeBase for anyone looking for accommodation in a prime location in Cape Town.

HomeBase 37 Strand street Cape Town is one of the very few that should be re rated a very affordable price to pop in if you visiting or dont feel like people. The friendliest reception from when the call was made. All facilities are available in the kitchen and lounge 24/7 and the accommodation is amazing..

The best home for our holiday in Capetown. Friendly staff and cleverly themed rooms, my favorite is the Bob Marley suite. Absolutely lovely view of Lions head🦁. Makes for breath taking sunsets perfect for sharing a beer with some mates.

This is the perfect place to stay in Cape town if you want to meet people and have fun. Its clean. The staff is really nice and do everything they can for you to have a good time. There is also a big terrace with a nice view and a bar. I had the best time there!

Location is really good, close to long street. Staff is super nice, rooms are clean, there is a lot of common space including a very nice balcony. Its also cheap, so in general a good choice for a hostel

Lived here for two months, was really a home to me. It’s a party hostel but very well run. Good mix of travelers, locals, long and short term people. I miss this place!

Unpretentious, non fuss, easy going atmosphere. Clean washrooms and surprisingly quieter than expected. Roof top bar great for meeting people at midnight! Lol

HomeBase is the place to stay when you visit Cape Town. It’s centrally located, walking distance to all the nightlife, safe, affordable and the best thing about it: THE STAFF. You will feel at home hanging out with the coolest hostel peeps in all of Cape Town. I specifically want to give a S/O to Carol from the front desk/bar for being such a kind and caring host! He approached my friends and I and gave us advice, took us around after his shift and made us feel so welcome! We had a lovely week thanks to him and his GF Julia, who so kindly, walked around with us and showed us all the best spots CPT has to offer. Carol, thanks for your hospitality and overall coolness, you make this hostel a 5-Star experience!!!!

Very loud all the time being on the main roads.. bring earplugs. rooms clean and staff lovely.. too many long term locals here defeating what a backpackers is about.

All the reasons....staff are brilliant and always ready to help with any problems. Great tour desk and the staff are mad friendly and know their stuff. Great base point for all Cape Town activities.

Convenient location, great value for money. Very friendly people, helpful and friendly staff. Only one complaint was that our room window on the outside had heaps of bird poop but other than that, everything was really good!

Home base is AHMAZING!!!! VERY homey and so clean and the staff is super friendly as well. I give them 5 stars, I had the time of my life there.

GOOD - AC in dorm (4th floor), good bed, good baths, good kitchen, nice terrace, good coffee. BAD - on warm days (above 27) the terrace/kitchen/common area was uncomfortably hot, lockers are made from pressed wood and would be easy to break open.

Very central location. Ideal to go out at night. Warm up in the bar and discover long street afterwards. The facilities could be better though.

Hotel had cancelled my booking due to their closure as they stated to me. I have been contacting and emailing for over a week to get my refund and they have stop taking my calls and have no refund my money. Extremely poor services

Homebase is one of the most affordable hostels in Cape Town situated in the City Center. Clean toilets, superb kitchen and amazing hosts like Samantha and Xoxo (Xocolo - she will teach you how to pronounce it) are the limelight of the place. Dont forget to play a game of Fifa with Africa on his PlayStation.

Quiet and chilled for students like me , the kitchen is well equipped , Nice view from the balcony and the dorms are okay! , In the heart of the city

They moved over from Long Street to Strand, and the place suffers a bit for it. The location is a bit seedier, although once you step into Homebase it gets a lot better. The rooms were awesome and clean but so very hot. Id suggest asking for a room with an aircon or one that doesnt face the sun. The rooftop bar is a cool place to chill, and its easy getting around from there to other hotspots in Cape Town.

Clean and afffordable budget backpacker conviently situated within the central business district of the Cape Town City centre. Close promiximity too many popular attractions. Easy access to all transport modes within 5min walk. Good free breakfast available to resident. Has awesome rooftop communal braai area that offers a bar service onsite with pool and recreation area for a time out from exploring Cape Towns many amazing places.
