This is a great place, the people who work here are great, and the location is great… the location is great, because it is in the City Centre on Long Street within easy walking distance of many great restaurants and pubs as well as many other great places.

From check Im to check out and reception its a wonderful experience, absolutely loved it, theyve got a massive balcony for smokers and a dedicated sections for those who smoke weed. Friendly staff and amazing place to stay in.

Good place, nice and clean, they could use better bedding on the beds though, but besides that. I reccomend it though. Dont raise your expectations too much. Its just a basic room. We took it because if the location. Walking distance to everywhere. I love that!!!

Just boring

The place has been refurbished lately with nice wood floors, clean feeling bathrooms, spacious decks and a cool little courtyard, it is very cozy feeling. The staff are a mix of volunteers and long-termers and are friendly and helpful. The owner is down to earth and accessible. The location is in the heart of the Longstreet party seen so its an easy walk to many downtown amenities. Walking around felt safe enough but the area can be sketchy after 2am or so. Also, Thursday night through Saturday night Long street is packed and the hostel is in the middle of the noise and the fun.

If you want a good Cape Town Long Street experience then consider this.Dorms are average, private rooms will suffice. However go for the experience and not the luxury.Tons of tourists in and out of the hostel. Balcony over looks Long Street, recommend to go within a group if your exploring the night life.

I recently stayed at the Urban Hive backpackers in Cape town for 5 nights. As an older woman I can highly recommend this place as very clean and safe.I had my own room and the staff were really friendly and helpful. It was like a home away from home with good facilities and a nice kitchen and lounge and decks overlooking Long Street.I would stay there again.

The place is reflective of the price you pay. Great location. But the dorm rooms were never cleaned. It was quite dirty, and hot at times. Only one power socket area for whole dorm. Only one shower and toilet for many rooms. Also the people at reception, are not helpful when you try and ask for information. They just tell you to go look at the brochures by the desk and dont seem interested.

Its quite good. The best thing about this place is you experience long street first hand. You can even see what people are up to at night while chilling at the balcony. The staff is friendly too.

Noisy, no info upon check in. Unfriendly day staff. Glass shower doors - not very clean at all. Night manager is fantastic and helped us arrange for airport transport at 3:30am in the morningThank you sir! If you need a nights sleep, opt for Gardens.

I had an amazing few nights here! The backpackers staff are really helpful and friendly as well as constantly checking the cameras at the door for our safety (Which is great because it IS on long street after all) Our rooms were nice and clean and so is the rest of the hostel, our fellow backpackers cleaned up after themselves in the kitchen so clutter was never a problem. The cleaning staff are also great and brought me so many things Id forgotten when packing up! The lounge area is also lovely and you can connect your phone to the TV allowing you to watch Netflix or any site of your choice. It leads to the balcony where you can have a smoke or chill on the benches and watch Long Street come alive in the evenings. Take note that you might need noise cancellation headphones on the weekend if you take your sleep seriously and arent out clubbing with everyone else. The night life is bizarre but interesting and cool to watch from the safety of the balcony.

Decent hostel for backpackers for the price and location. Can however get hot during summers (No AC or fans available). One must be aware that due to its location on long street which has many night clubs, it is quite loud up to midnight.

One of the worst hostels Ive stayed at. Loud, hot, roaches in the bathroom, and smelly toilets. Beds were moderately comfortable, but the noise coming from Long street made a full nights rest impossible. Left a day early because we didnt want to return

The backpacker is super central. Its based on tr infamous long street. It has such a great balcony. You can watch the streets and parzy folk forever and just enjoy the energy of the street. Food, party, drinks... its all right there! The sunday braais are legendary!!!:)

Pros- pretty building from the outside, nice wraparound balcony, very centrally located and walking distance to most amenities.Cons- rooms on the ground floor VERY LOUD! You will be lucky to sleep before 3-4am. R100 key deposit taken when you check in. This is NOT a NEW hostel. Maybe it has had a paint job but standard of decoration is still outdated especially in the bathrooms. The Wi-Fi signal is VERY weak. They didnt appear to use any extenders so you basically have to sit in reception for a good signal. Their card machine only accepts certain cards. So if your card isnt one of the lucky ones you have to pay them in cash which is more expensive as it costs between R50-80 for foreign cards to withdraw money from SA cash machines but they dont care.In all it is supposed to be one of the best hostels in Cape Town, if so, my advice would be to pay slightly extra and book a room in an airbnb.

Nice hostel at long street where it is all the pubs and restaurants are so it is really well localozated !! However the wifi there is not good which can be really annoying... besides that the staff and the ambience is nice clean and tidy!!

In the middle of Longstreet, wonderful and therefore central. Yes centrally on the party mile with lots of loud music, noise and car noise. You have to like it when you sleep here. It can be heard in all rooms. Two toilets for several levels, as well as two showers. A 24-hour reception is available, as well as at night really busy. The rooms were ok and clean.

I think the location is good. Its safe, its hygienic, the staff is friendly, its free wifi, the kitchen is just fine. I recommend it!

It is a typical backpacker hostel! Super well located, Long Street, the busiest street in the center of Cape Town! Close to bars and restaurants with good food and drink. The building is old but well maintained. The double room I stayed is very clean. The bathrooms too.The service was exceptional! The super nice and helpful receptionist! I recommend! It has no luxury but it is worth the location and education of the attendants.

Convenient location to enjoy the city and especially the night of Cape Town. It has lockers, shared bathrooms and comfortable rooms. A bit noisy. A little insecure. During my stay a guy had his electronics stolen.

Location in a very trendy area. We stayed over the weekend and it was very difficult to sleep due to the noise. Bathroom pretty bad too. Fully equipped kitchen.

Good location, in the middle of long street, where you can go for a walk and find everything, at night you have bars 🥃🍻🍹 and super close discs, from the roof of the hostel you can listen to the music 🎶, It has a large balcony overlooking the main avenue where you can have a good time 👌🤙😎.

Good location, good service, big kitchen, public area is quite good... just a shortcoming, too noisy.The surrounding area is full of nightclub clubs, from the afternoon until the early hours of the morning, the noise is uninterrupted.

The hostel is located on a super central street which makes it convenient but at night it is very noisy. The facilities are very good and the cleanliness perfect. The kitchen has many utensils to prepare what you want to eat. We loved the large balcony that it has and the owner is very authentic!
