As an African with 4C hair I am always skeptical about doing my hair at salons because not many people can Handle my type of hair. As I was on my way to the salon I kept thinking what if they say that they dont do my type of hair. Or what if it doesnt look like what I am expecting. At my arrival the lady was very friendly and asked to check the length of my hair. She then suggested that I do a hair treatment to make my hair more manageable. I was very happy with the way my hair was handled. The lady was gentle and explained everything she was doing before she did it. I am very grateful for that. The end result was amazing. Thank you Maverick. I definitely recommend this salon. The prices are reasonable and the staff are quite friendly.

This place completely ruined my hair!!! I just wanted nice highlights, the stylist sold me a product that apparently offers natural highlights built in, and this photo shows the end result. My scalp is burnt from how strong the bleach was that she used and my hair is strawberry red, which is NOT at all what I wanted. I wanted an ash blonde colour. Something like this has never happened to me before at any salon. Its so bad that any kind of product I try to put on my hair makes my scalp itch.. Be warned!! They dont know how to do highlights here. Maybe a cut and dry would be okay, but not blonde.

Friday 12 March 2020- I had just had an enjoyable shampoo and we were progressing through the blow-drying of my hair, when suddenly I had a very emotional outburst... Having recently been widowed, and everything still quite raw and sensitive, I started feeling tearful whilst my hair was being washed and I tried hard to suppress it... Blinking and breathing deeply.. Unfortunately, I lost that round to sobs racking my body, whilst frantically trying to reach the tissues in my handbag.. Too late.. The ladies were so kind, understanding and compassionate... Doing their best to make me feel at ease and comfortable... Roeline did a relaxing hand massage, with me sobbing away, whilst my hair was being trimmed and Blow dried...the ladies assuring and making me feel at ease throughout. I would wish that the meltdown had never happened, but for the warmth and kindness shown during this time, I am very grateful, and applaud the staff at Mavericks, and bonus... My hair looked and felt great, and my hands welcomed that awesome massage.. Thank you ladies! Heartfelt gratitude to you all.Linda

I took a chance to visit this salon because I saw it on wikideals in February 2021. I called to make an appointment and I was able to get one on the same day which I really appreciated. I got a wash, cut, protein/moisture treatment and blow dry with flat ironing. There was only one person in the salon and while the protein treatment was on my hair, she attended to another client. According to my research, protein treatments should only be left on for 10 minutes, any longer than that would cause the hair to become brittle and dry. This happened in my case and that is why it took me this long to leave a review because I wanted to make sure that it was actually the protein treatment that messed up my hair. It was left on for more than 20 minutes and it was not rinsed off properly even though the stylist had me going to the basin twice to wash it off. When I got home, I could still feel some product on my scalp. When she blow dried my hair, my hair looked really frizzy and dry and it has stayed that way ever since my appointment. My hair has also been shedding way more than usual after this appointment. I am very disappointed because I really wanted to support this business as it is not only cheap but the stylist was very nice to me and I felt really bad for her that she was the only stylist in the salon at the time but now that my hair is ruined, I simply cannot go back. If anyone decides to do the protein treatment there, please be aware of the time that it is left on and please do research about it before the time. Also, the hairdryer that was used was not a professional one and it took really long to dry my hair. I really think that upgrades are necessary to stay competitive in the industry. Its not enough to just be cheap when the quality is bad.

Had highlights put in my hair today. Felt pampered by everyone. Lou did an amazing job with my hair. Even got a free hand massage while receiving my hair treatment!

They accommodated me at such short notice and then proceeded to give me a brilliant treatment and one of the best haircuts Ive ever received.

Super happy.After a loooonnng year of Covid stress, Box colour and YouTube tutorials on how to cut your hair...I just felt that I desperately needed a make over.I started search for a salon that can suite my budget but what I wanted done was astronomical and I could justify the price just to feel better about myself.Today I had my makeover at Maverick Hair in Seapoint... I didnt get a whole lecture on what must be done on rectifying the damage of the dreaded box... Nor did I have extra treatments forced on me...I got a magnificent precision cut, full colour, botox blow and flat at half the price other salons charged in a super relaxed comfy atmosphere in a third of the time other salons would take.Thank you so much. oxoLove you guys.

Went in wanting to go darker. was convinced by the stylist to go blonde. I agreed and was clear if Im going blonde it must be blonde and I dont want any yellow tinge in my hair. I wasnt shown a colour chart was just promised it would be blonde. clearly we have different versions of blonde.... I walked out with my hair bright yellow!!! when I voiced my concerns I was told any other hairdresser wouldnt have been able to get it that blonde from the colour it previously was why was that not stated from the start? Ive asked for a refund and over a month later im now being ignored and still have not received anything. SHOCKING SERVICE and the worst part is Im still stuck with yellow hair.

Disgusting client services.. stylist had no way of speaking!!! Shouted at my mother who just came to ask me a question.. I’ll never use your gross establishment again! Drab and unfriendly staff all around

The reviews are decieving - dont go to this place. Place smells of smoke. Staff doesnt wear masks or wears them the wrong way. I went there for a straight lob cut, and it ended up extremely uneven. Hair stylist did no sectioning during the cut (honestly doubt they even are real hairstylists). Very unpleasant experience. Asked for a refund which I got after sending pictures of the cut, so thats something. But dont waste your time going there. I now have to find a new stylist to fix this haircut, which will mean my hair will be shorter than I wanted.
