This is my forth admission to the hospital and hopefully my last (in a good way) the hospital and staff are amazing. I shared my room with 2 patients that gave every single nurse so much hell, I am sorry for all that some people has to put nurses through. In this trying times they really are trying their best. Thank you for that and taking good care of me.

My second stay today 30/08/21 at Louis Leipoldt, 2nd great experience. 1st was Dr Labuschagne in 2018, my c-section was professional and healing very quick.Brilliant Dr, the anesthetist, pediatrician, cleaning staff, kitchen staff, all was great. Maternity ward was like a hotel. Nurses was such a blessing. So proud and blessed with them all. Today had a procedure by Dr de Beer, very nice Dr, quick procedure. The anethetists was awesome, made me laugh before my procedure and really friendly oakes. Then ward F... Thank you to Sr T Bacon and Sr S. Mostert (he also assisted me back in 2018 in the maternity ward) i take my hat off to you hard working ladies. I dont know how u do it. Real life heroes. Thank you, thank you. From the recovery room to the nurses, cleaners and kitchen staff. You made sure everything was smooth, vital checks, after my meal, signed my forms and off i went home. You all make a stressfull procedure so much better.

My experience at Louis Leipoldt was one of the worst experiences Ive ever gone through. My quotation for the hospital fees was R24 540.00I was admitted on the 2nd August 2021 at 10:29am to have my surgery (Laparoscopic Cholesystectomy) done at Louis Leipoldt Hospital which was scheduled for 15:00pm. When I got to the room, they asked me to wash myself and give them a urine sample. They took me in to the theatre at 14:00pm where Dr Stanly, the Surgeon and Dr Acker, the Anesthetist were with their team which was very friendly and professional. When I got back to my room which was around 16:10pm, I gained full consciousness and realised that I was in a lot of pain. I asked for pain medication but was told that I need to wait for the night staff. I only received pain medication around 22:00pm. I kept pressing my bell button over and over again to get some assistance from the nurses because I started throwing up. No one came to my aid and instead the patient across me came to help me and still none of the nurses came.Later that evening, I asked the Sister to please help walk down the passage as I was sick of my bed and I needed to mobilize. When I woke up at 00:00am (12:00am 3rd August 2021) I needed to use the bathroom. The night staff Sister told me that Im not allowed to get out of my bed and that shell bring me pot to pee in. I was so uncomfortable.Later that morning, the doctor came to check up on me and asked me how I was feeling. I told the doctor that I was in a lot of pain. The Sister told the doctor that Im not allowed to go home because I didnt want to get out of my bed when I clearly asked her on several occasions if she could please help me get out of bed.Soon after, my mother came to fetch me. She told them that shes a nurse and that she will take care of me and they allowed me to leave. I packed up all my belongings and noticed that my urine sample was still at my bedside which means they never did a urine test.I booked myself out of hospital at 11:35am on the 3rd August 2021 but to my shock, Louis Leipoldt Hospital charged me for an extra day which costed an extra R3980 which I clearly dont have to pay for since it wasnt even a full day that I was there.I was admitted at 10:29am on the 2nd August 2021 and released at 11:35am the 3rd August 2021. I have a release card to prove this.Worst service ever. Period.

Seems like when you are a black person admitted here you are taken less seriously. Ive been admitted here twice already. First in December 2020 and 10April 2021 to date. When you complain about pain they dont seem to care about your state of pain you are only told that if you want to go home you will sign a red form. Then I was prescribed morphine by the doctors, the previous nurses who worked over the weekend understood this but the other one who worked on 5th floor from Sunday evening was so problematic. Shouted at everything around her. My prayer mow is that I dont have to stay here any longer. I mean like the doctor are great but its just certain individuals who bring a bad dame to the hospital.

I am disgusted at the attitude of the lady at the door. As soon as you try and explain as to why you need to accompany your disabled wife up to x-rays and her doctors appointment she goes into full on defence mode with horrible attitude.I then got annoyed with her and raised my voice and told her I am sick and tired of her attitude (as this was not our first incident with her) and I want to speak to the manager. To which she responded go up to the 5th floor and do what you want. After that she proceeded to ask everyone in the foyer did she have an attitude to try and blow her trumpet more.I am so glad I dont have to deal with your hospital again.

Absolute dreadful experience. The doctor never communicated with us about the treatment of my father who had a stroke for 4 days, while none of us could go see him due to COVID regulations or communicate with him ourselves. We were told he would receive and MRI scan (absolutely necessary in case of a stroke) which we now learned he never received. She also didnt prescribe any medication for his stroke or his diabetes (which they detected during his stay) nor kept a record of any medication she gave him while he was in her care. After he was transferred to a rehab facility, where she was meant to be the one to discharge him, the rehab staff informed us she wasnt even aware that he had left Louis Leipoldt in the first place. This negligence could have cost him his life and other patients who are treated this poorly, are not getting the life saving care they deserve from medical professionals.

Visited few times last week and nobody in reception could answer how long it will take to see the doc. Will have to be a lot of patience (atleast 3 to 4 hours) to see the doc. Felt like less staff and more patients and managent need to look into this. Need to inprove nurse service a bit in terms of cleaning the stitch, wound etc.

I had my son at Louis Leipoldt with Dr Van De Merwer as my obstetrician. The nurses are so kind. As a first time mom, they offered me so much advice and helped me with breastfeeding my baby. The services the hospital offered are excellent. I had a c-section and they ensured that my recovery was as painless as possible and that my baby was always well taken care off. Dr Van De Merwer was great and made sure my c-section was done in 15 minutes tops and that my baby was healthy. I would definitely recommend this hospital and Dr Van De Merwer 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Love this hospital, most of the staff and all the doctors I have dealt with in the 11 years that I have been going there! Even their ER is top notch! The surgical ward nurses are friendly and know how to put you at ease! The nurses in the paediatric ward are the same! And all so attentive and nurturing. Usually the case in the maternity ward as well, but my last stay was not what I have become accustomed to, Sam and the Twin are the redeeming staff members! What lovely souls! My dad passed away at Louis Leipoldt on the medical ward, floor 5. He was there for just more than a week. We can not single out one person, be it auxilary, cleaner, kitchen staff, nursing staff or unit manager, because my dad and all of us were treated with respect, dignity and friendliness- every single visit. Even at the end of a long shift, everyone stuck to the rhythm and the palpable ethos of caring with dignity and love. The only negative worth mentioning is that parking is an absolute nightmare.

Even though it was a natural delivery my body was weak and needed assistance from staff. The nurses never introduced them to me. Doctor prescribed pain meds and every time I had to ask for meds. I had to ask more than 3 times for them to wash my son. No one did routine check in. I had to ring the bell every timeI had to ask for milk for baby I had to ask for water for myself. The list goes on but never have I expected to get such bad medical care. Never ever again will Louis Leipoldt see me. It was my first and last.

Ive been to Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt five times in the past year. Once via their ER, once as a day patient and three times Ive been admitted for overnight/multiple night stays at the hospital.Staff are generally very helpful and supportive, this is especially true of the porters, kitchen/serving staff and nurses Ive encountered during the night shift.Due to intermittent construction work and/or faulty equipment the wards and rooms can be a bit noisy at times and the visitation policy often doesnt allow for much privacy.Rooms are generally clean and airy, though it is sometimes necessary to remind staff to clean certain areas or equipment. Its not always easy to reach the locked lockers, electrical outlets and bathrooms due to the layout and proximity.Pain management is generally good and staff are quick to assist. Its advisable for patients to verify which items are charged to their account/medical aid as Id not received some prescribed medication and woundcare before being discharged during one stay, even though it had already been billed to my account. The access to the ER is not optimal and the reception is quite small. During my first stay I was wheeled around in the road by a porter who struggled to get the wheelchair through the ER doors.Admission is a relative ease and the online preadmission form makes it easy to notify the hospital of your stay in advance. The rooms are acceptable, though its not always easy to reach the locked lockers, electrical outlets or bathrooms.Parking is a major issue at the hospital, especially if you have accessibility problems such as walking difficulties or pain as you may have to cross the busy road to get to the hospital or medical suites.

Overall Im glad I decided to give birth at this hospital. My Gynaecologist Dr de Bruijn and the senior nurse in the maternity ward Sister Albertus were the 2 shining stars of mypregnancy and labour, I am very grateful to them both for everything they did for me. Same can be said for Geraldine of the baby clinic, this woman is an absolute blessing for all new moms, I would recommend these people to anyone without a second thought. Sadly there were some drawbacks to my experience, some of the nurses in the maternity ward were not very compassionate or helpful, when they would come fetch my baby for check ups they would bump his mobile cot into walls and doors going in and out of the room, even when my baby was left in my room with me I has to constantly deal with people forcefully opening the room door and practically bashing it into my babys cot since my bed was closest to the door. Also the number of visitors to each bed was not being adhered to as my neighbours family would come visit up to 10 people at a time, we were in a 2 bed room with limited space and they were so noisy it would agitate my own baby, even after complaining about it to the nurses nothing was really done except the people were told to just keep the noise down. There was also an issue with my discharge papers, the home affairs document to register my sons birth wasnt completed by the nurses and I landed up having to run up and down for stamps and signatures. Overall I would still come back to this hospital but I think they need to invest in better training for their staff.

Once checked into the proper hospital, things were great, but the ER experience was nearly as traumatic as my incident itself. I had a critical emergency and had to wait 2 hours in the waiting room before seeing the triage room. In there the staff was impatient and rude, and after that there was just one doctor on staff for 51 patients. The doctor didnt give much attention to me, and only hours after I arrived at the hospital did I get the care I needed. I mentioned this in my feedback form and got a very insincere apology and the person who phoned me was very insistent that things happened differently than it did (blamed it on shift changes, made a passive aggressive comment about 99% of other people being happy there and also made a comment about my mother working there, not sure if thats some kind of threat because it lacked any other context). They also claimed I only got there at 7pm, but I got there at 5pm and basically waited long enough in the waiting room to see the whole Titanic. The ER is really poor and really doesnt take responsibility for their poor service. The rest of the hospital was very clean and professional though.
