Very disappointing. Had a tomato and cheese toasted sandwich. The cheese was melted rubber and the tomato was way over ripe. I suspect that the bread was stale as well because I felt quiet sick after eating it. Making a proper toasted sandwich is really not that difficult.
Really nice, farm style feel. The bakery is to die for! Their super juices too, absolutely fabulous.
Unimpressed. Tried to amend a booking but struggled throughout the day to get through to anyone. Had to literally wait until after 7am the following day to call and eventually speak to someone. The staff was quite accommodating when I eventually had my call answered. On the day however, a table of 12 seated inside was most uncomfortable, as chairs were simply just squeezed in around a table, resulting in some of us having to sit sideways and not with our legs under the table. Coffees were lukewarm when it arrived. One of us ordered a Super C Super Juice which looked like dirty water with green foam on top. My breakfast which was the smashed avo and salmon on sourdough was also a bit disappointing. The soft egg was not soft at all, the bread was so hard that I could not even cut it with a knife. The salmon was nice though and was a generous portion. We ordered cake slices after breakfast and waited forever for it to arrive (cake that literally just needs to be sliced and placed on a plate). The cake slices are decent in size. The chocolate cake was not the greatest. However the cheesecakes were quite nice. My overall experience was not good enough for me to return.
Had a very pleasant meal with very good service. The food was presented nicely plenty of it and very tasty. .We purchased some ready made meals which were very tasty. The cheesecakes are to die for.😊
Just love coming here for lunch. An extensive menu, portions are good and dog friendly.
Honestly a gem which I hadnt experienced until a few days ago. It is filled with greenery outside on the patio, and on a sunny day you will not want to leave. It feels like you are immersed in nature. The food and coffee is also on point along with friendly staff.Overall, I highly recommend if you want to be immersed in a different setting to other restaurants in Cape Town. It is truely unique.
It was my birthday on Tuesday 22/6. Loveless was our waitress. What a lovely and considerate lady. Brought in the rest of waiters for a surprise birthday song. Indeed a pleasant surprise. It was the cherry on the cake after a delicious falafel on brown rice. Thank you so much foraking my day memorable.
Chardonnay Deli is a great place to stop an grab a coffee or sit and stay a while. The breakfast menu has a wide selection and generous portions. Quality, service and value in a magical setting.
Great food and quality! Awesome service and friendly staff. Thank you all for the lovely afternoon. The cheese cake was to go and amazing too!
Their food is absolutely amazing. As is their service! Stay for a meal or pop in for coffee / tea & cake. But beware! ALL those cakes & selection of cheesecakes will leave you rolling out of there! Delicious & very generous portions!
Warm fire on a rainy day, friendly and efficient staff. Food to warm the soul. It was a fabulous experience.
A little cold in the outdoor enclosed space but the good food and friendly service made up for it.
I visited this place first time and Ive been surprised they have a lot of good stuff, healthy food like a lot of cakes without sugar, they use honey. Or they use different flour..I dont use wheat flour and sugar. For me was very important to find a place like this.
Best deli in town. Always freshly baked products. Delicious coffee and lovely seating under the trees. Great vibe. Super friendly staff.
A most enjoyable lunch with friend. Food absolutley scrumptious.
Cosy atmosphere, blackboard menu with seasonal produce catering for all palates. I had smasged avo with poached eggs on sourdough. The coffee is excellent and the deli has some interesting options. Beautiful flowers for sales outside
This place is beautiful and the deli/bakery is really good. Just dont order food in the restaurant. I can say with 100% certainty that they make the worst burgers I have ever tried. Their lamb burger was basted in some sort of DIY hoisin sauce that tasted like it was made by just adding honey and chinese 5 spice to tomato sauce .The roll looks like it was left over from a fish and chips shop and wedges were quarter potatoes that was hard on the inside. They charged R137 for this. Their home made ice tea was just as had. Its 33% honey. I ordered lunch, not dessert but everything in this place is sweet. For that price you get rather get a 600 gram Izzynator from Izzy Burger or even a bacon burger from Mugg and Bean. I wont be going back.
Went with family.Had late breakfast, cake and coffee.Food is of eccellent quality.Thoroughky enjoyed cheese cake and choc gluten free cake(heaven)
Delicious cakes; great service; variety; lovely setting and atmosphere. They have gluten free options; vegan options and healthy alternatives.
Lovely atmosphere and nice and warm on a very chilly day. Staff were very friendly and cake was good with many to choose from.
An unassuming gem, introduced to me by my son (who paid), great variety of breakfasts. Great service
We always have wonderful meals here never ever disappointed their cottage pie chicken schnitzels and fish n chips are the best especially with a wine and a beer highly recommended
Really nice cheesecake with a great selection too. Friendly service. Pretty setting.
LOVE their cakes. Can get a little chilly though... Remember your jacket
Nice food and delicious cheesecake. Outside sitting is relaxed.
Lovely little deli restaurant packed full of goodies.
Amazing local gem, great coffee, interesting breads, olive oils, fresh flowers and more
Top quality bread ! Breakfast are a must.
Gives all the feels... beautiful setting for small gatherings. Light lunches and brekkie are served. Dogs allowed. Staff are friendly and efficient. Dont forget to take a look at the deli section on your way out.
Good coffee and efficient, friendly service in a pleasant environment
Love the bread..a variety of other products too and the restaurant is good with excellent service
So quaint! A cute little deli with a variety of foods, cakes and other treats. Towards the back is the restaurant in an open courtyard. Very tranquil setting. The cakes are quite good (didnt try anything else), but this seems like a great spot to come to for an early morning Sunday breakfast
Friendly staff.. a good choice of coffees, pastries , cakes bread and snacks.. I love the restaurant and sitting under the oak trees..
Delicious food, lovely setting and very nice staff.
Quaint cozy place. Meals a bit scanty and pricey. An eg. Egg and bacon on a croissant with not even a piece of greenery on the plate. 😲
Lovely stop for breakfast after a hike. Quick service , delicious selection of bread on offer. All round great menu.
It used to be one of my favorite places. I dont know whats wrong but the two last times the service was a catastrophy! The waiters were the coldest and unfriendly possible, not sure I m going back... the ladies at the shop are adorable though!
Lovely place, pet friendly, and the breakfasts were so delish we scoffed before the pictures 🤦🏻♀️
New and wonderful - a resurrected trading farm stall, with a bit of imagination and cash it becomes a great location for a stopping off location. Food presentation looked appetising
What a lovely setting...we had a delicious breakfast with attentive staff... Next time we will go early in the morning and sit outside under the trees. The cakes looked magnificent but we had no space left after the very generous breakfast. Good coffee too. Looks like a great spot for lunch with a very good wine selection.
Breakfast was amazing. Excellent service.
Beautiful atmosphere , really diverse delicious menu , friendly staff and the best cheese cake ever ! I highly recommend the Chardonnay Deli🍰😁
First time we went to Chardonnay Deli. Lovely, cosy, very warm and welcoming feel. Initially ordered at the coffee window, but went in to buy a sandwich.Besides the obvious good coffee and eatables, I got surprisingly good service.Definitely recommended and look forward to going back.
This is a really lovely deli and restaurant. We stopped twice during a recent visit to Cape Town. The first time was for pastries, which were all world class and so good, and the second time for breakfast. The breakfast was very good all round. The cakes are also exceptional.
Great place to grab a coffee, and their cheese cakes are delicious.
Best cakes, great ambience, super friendly and helpful, fantastic lunches.outdoor backyard area perfect for an outdoor meal. Its our date sneak away go to from a busy toddler
Great coffee and breakfast. Also has aninteresting deli shop.
Great food. Tea and cake. Just a really irratating bird that was flying around and sitting on peoples shoulders.
Although the cakes look amazing to the eye, its very underwhelming on the pallet. We tried the caramel cheesecake which was bland , the white chocolate cheesecake which was blander, and the almond carrot cake which was bleh. Shop is quite cramped which makes moving through it challenging during social distancing times.
It is so authentic and beautiful a hidden jem in the mountains. Truly a rewarding experience with some of the friendliest stalf. Some of the other customers can be quight stiff but Do not let that stop you from experiencing greatness.
Really good experience, chocolate tart is insane, outside tables, great service, dogs allowed... Worth the stop for sure
Good food with banting and vegan options.
Good service and food. I always enjoy a post hike coffee and breakfast here.
Beautiful ambience outside. Sit back and soak in the sounds of nature. Enjoy the delectable food. The green omelette was delicious....and filling. Highly recommend a visit.
Went for breakfast on Saturday, team members all extremely helpful and food was fantastic. Well done to you all and thank you for your excellent service.
A really awesome place. I had heard so many good things and i eventually got to try it myself. There is so much on offer here. Pop in for a fresh croissant to takeaway or sit down for a breakfast, lunch or choose from the delicious cakes. There is a good wine and beer selection. Choose to sit outside or in the quirky area indoors. There is wheelchair friendly parking close by. The entrance is wheelchair friendly but with a couple of small challenges. There is a small step and the groud outside is not even. The bathrooms may not be suitable.
Chardonnay Deli is the place to go if you enjoy good coffee and delicious cake. The gluten free almond and carrot cake was outstanding. I wonder what was in that delicious icing?
Best gluten-free brownies I have ever had (possibly the best brownies ever!) Crunchy on the outside, deliciously soft on the inside - pure chocolate delight :) Staff are always friendly and engaging - lovely spot to pop into on the way home.
The good:Good coffee and juicesWide selection of delicious cakes (vegan options too)Great view/atmosphereThe bad:Substandard serviceVery busy at breakfast times (and no all day breakfast)Slightly overpriced for qualityWaited quite a while to get a seat here, but I didnt really mind because I got to browse what they had on offer at the deli. After waiting for a while a table eventually became available but the service thereafter was very poor. We waited 25 minutes just to get served, we eventually had to physically pull a waiter aside because they wouldnt notice us otherwise. And even once we did pull them aside it took a while before out food arrived (just a simple bacon and eggs) during which we watched tables arrive get their food and leave. The breakfast was also substandard, the eggs were cold and needed seasoning while the bacon was overcooked and oily. The one redeeming factor was the lovely farm style bread. In terms of drinks the coffee was good and the orange juice was even better. Overall I think this place has potential but I probably wont return
Very good for a quick stop on your way to Constantia Neck, Hout Bay etc. We haf coffees and croissants which which were freshly prepared. They also have a sit down option in a classic farm house setting. Well worth a try.
An excellent all-round experience. Great options - coffee, breakfast and lunch are all exquisitely put together; the service is superb and the prices are very affordable. The deli itself has many fine foods for sale too.I heartily recommend the Chardonnay Deli!!
Lovely little deli on a very popular route.
A little cafe on the way to Constantia Nek or further on to Hout Bay. Its situated in Constantia so automatically you expected to pay Constantia prices. Their pies cost R36. Looks like the Same pie i buy at Checkers for R16?? Ill never know because I wont be paying R36 for a pie just yet. Theres a little sitdown restuarant area to the back. Im not too sure what type of meals are on the menu.
Lively vibe. Great food and service
Absolutely amazing, stunning set up and great food.
Very friendly staff.. the pies, absolutely delicious. Thank you!!
Great place for a lunch date. Exceptionally amazing menu and fantastic meal choices. The prices are very reasonable and the deli is world class. Best place to go for family lunch and or friend gatherings.
Fresh food this establishment serves, I couldnt ask for better.
Great breakfasts and interesting deli
Lovely and delicious! Great atmosphere and menu. Well-spaced tables and good covid-19 compliance. Will definitely be back.
Casual country vibe. So stunning...nestled in the trees behind....a cup.of coffee and a delightful bite emersed in nature!
Cheesecake overpriced, more base than filling and the slices are smaller
Lovely restuarant. Beautiful under the trees.
Excellent breakfast, value for money. Great service in tranquil setting in middle of Constantia.
Great food, well priced.Need to come back
I have seen this place a number of times over the past few years when cycling past but never actually visited. My wife and I tried it for three 1st time for an afternoon coffee and cake and we were not disappointed. Huge selection of tasty desserts and cakes for varying tastes and dietary preferences. We tried the banting baked cheesecake and OMG!!! - it was really delicious. Rich and creamy with a hint of vanilla on a almond flour biscuit base. Coffee was good, not great as it was a bit strong. Lovely tree setting to enjoy a beautiful summer afternoon.
Fresh, beautiful and ethically sourced/prepared food and coffee. And loads more goodies from the onsite bakery and surrounding organic produce suppliers. This is deli with a big heart and a very warm embrace. Exceptional team of staffers too. Go spoil yourself - either eat under the beautiful trees in their large outdoor seating area, or shop and enjoy your take out at home.
Food was fine - our croissants lack of crispiness could well have been attributed to load-shedding.Service was not great, and there was confusion as to which table ordered what. What made us most uncomfortable was that C-19 protocols were not properly followed. There were protocols in place- I had my temperature taken and was offered sanitizer at the entrance, but we were aware of at least 2 people who entered and sat down with no temperature check, and we saw people entering and being seated with no signs of masks.
Expensive and slow service. The food is good though
Such an idyllic setting amongst the trees. Food is great and generous portions. Cake and coffee to die for!
Food was good and the vibe was pleasant. Waitress was lovely. Definitely a place to go again.
Lovely service, food was good, but there was a nasty odour of sewerage every now and again.
Best cake ever!
Great spot. Good food. Friendly service :-)
A good menu, which can be enjoyed al fresco. Dogs welcomed.
Awesome cakes, good cupachino, excellent service & lots of ambience. Will deferently be back for more.
