What an amazing experience!! I was late for my booking but they simply rescheduled so I didn’t miss out on my treatment. They receptionist was very friendly and professional with amazing communication and so accommodating, she even booked me at the century city spa instead of the sea point branch for my convenience. The massage therapists were both Very friendly and didn’t have a problem with alternating the pressure intensity upon demand. Something I find to be quite rare. Finally the room was so relaxing and beautiful . With relaxing music playing, dimmed lights and opaque curtains, it really put me in a relaxed state. Definitely worth coming out to this spa, and I’m definitely going back!Thank you for an amazing experience!!

Very friendly receptionist who made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. Unfortunately it all went downhill from there (we had a booked an hour’s couple massage starting at 1pm ). The 2 therapists kept us waiting for almost 15 minutes, after sauntering in, one on her phone. She placed the phone next to her and kept on checking it every few minutes - very distracting. We requested hard pressure and although they tried, it felt like they had zero experience or training. It was basically an oil rubdown with clammy hands (both therapsids had long nails). They squirted the oil directly on our backs then spread it all over before adding more. It didn’t help that hot air was blowing through the aircon on a cloudy but moggy day. Then at 13:58, they left the room. Although we had booked an hour’s massage - we decided to only pay for 45 min - as that’s what we received. Would not recommend this place.

I have had many therapies and as it goes I can say that the treatment was not one that I would return for. The therapist was not qualified nor trained in their profession. The dress code of the my therapist felt like she was the kitchen staff assisting because of overbooking. She had an overall with socks and slippersa and in no way resembled a therapist. I was not introduced to the products used in most of my treatments and I could see that the mini pedi was using items that had not been sterilized. A quick brush with a used buffering a once over with a small nail brush was perceived as a mini pedi.I can say the gentleman at reception was about the highlight as he tried to engage positively. But definitely not worth the R1000 I had spent

Although my actual treatment was okay (my cuticle was nicked and no apology at all), the setting and level of comfort was terrible. I had a manicure and had to sit on a massage bed. A manicure should be done at a nail station where you are comfortable. Also the heaters were on so high that it was like a sauna in the room and I had to ask for it be turned off. Not a very relaxing experience at all

Booked a 1 hour massage yesterday. Booking was for 4:10pm after signing in and getting undressed, the massage started probably 4:20 and was finished at 5pm. So 40min.

The worst “spa” experience I’ve ever came across. Oily floor, inexperienced staff and no communication skills. A friend booked the half day spa package as a birthday gift but I feel like it was really a waste of her money and our time. Definitely won’t be back again. Sorry

I had 2 pedicures so far by Belinda and Ashley. They are absolutely great and affordable. I enjoyed it immensely. And my feet are so soft and relaxed after. I would greatly recommend this spa to anyone.

I will never ever go back to this spa again. I booked a massage and to my outmost shock, i just wanted to get up from the massage bed and leave. I did not enjoy the massage at all and the therapist appeared incompetent and i also felt it during the massage. The receptionist is unfriendly and cold and the bathroom wasn’t in a good condition either. There were many people (assuming staff members?). So it’s crowded and it feels as if i have wasted my money. A planned relaxing treat became a stressful visit. I do not recommend this place.

Bought a deal on Hyperli for 3 hours worth of treatments and we loved it. The therapists were lovely and professional, but we still had lots of laughs. The massages were great and the body scrub was wonderful. All the treatments were great. Just a few things:The shower water was cold.Gowns wouldve been preferable over running to and from the shower in a towel.Disposable shower caps were recycled, which is fine, except they were wet.The express mani and pedi were more express than I expected. Essentially just a file, cuticle treatment and buff. No colour.All in all good value and I will definitely be back.Thanks Laila and Ashley for your magic hands

The treatments was very enjoyable. I payed for an 2 hour treatment, but from the moment I walked in to when I left the spa was 1h45mins. That includes leaving me to wait for long periods in between the scrub and the massage.

I will never go back to your Spa again.. The therapist did an excellent job though (Nonkosi). I was there thee weeks ago, the bathroom was too uncomfortable and not suitable for a spa..not to mention they did not even have a proper mirror. The receptionist was unfriendly the reception area was too small and crowded, seems as if its also for the staff members use , their rooms had no spa ambiance it felt like I was in some prison cell, however thanks once again to Nonkosi for she did excellent in terms of the treatment because it was one of the best Ive had but the setup did not match the standard of the quality massage I got and I still will never set foot there again.

My 1st time and my friend and I had a half day spa booked which included a full body swedish massage, body exfoliation, honeybush skin treatment(facial) express pedi and mani with lunch...The only thing we enjoyed of the entire experience was the body massage and the facial. The mani and pedi was so badly done, later that day our nails on both fingers and toes, started splitting and was badly chipped. Our nails were in a worse condition to what they were before we got there.If I should go back, it will only be for a massage and facialAlso you should be upfront that there is a value to the meal part of the package and anything above the amount must be paid for.

I booked this massage via wikideals as I needed a massage so bad. This experience was rather stressful than relaxing. At first there was an issue with my payment not reflecting in the Spas bank account, I had my proof of payment and everything only when I got to the spa they tell me the payment is not reflecting after communicating via whats app and telephonically that my booking is all set. The therapist was so rough I had to tell her atleast 3 times to lower the pressure. I was shocked that the spa is in the basement I feel the room setting could be much better it just seems as a normal room with 2 beds. Will not recommend and will not go back to the Sea Point branch

First and last time going to this Spa.Decided to treat my family to a Spa day, but Im so disappointed in what we received. The therapists were unprofessional and our swedish messages felt like a rub down. Terrible experience for all of us, will definitely not go back.

Unfortunately I booked a package incl lunch. The outlet at the Hyde hotel can be reached by climbing through the fitness center - this action requiring the person in the fitness center to make way! Then you climb down damp and dark stairs to the underground parking. Opposite the parking there is a dark, damp and narrow dungeon which functions as the spa. It is seedy and smelly and has no fresh air - it’s a Covid dungeon. The receptionist hates er job and asking her something feels like a confrontation you best avoid because she has important work on her phone. No welcome drink just a very annoyed woman asking if you’re done filling out the form whilst you are in the middle of it. The practitioner had no idea what she was doing, the basic understanding of human anatomy was lacking and she was going through motions which you could feel felt alien to her. It started with a hair massage. I say hair massage rather than scalp massage because she tossed my hair into a bun and swirled the bun for 20 minutes until it was a tangle I still can’t tame days later. It felt wrong to be touched and it also felt like she didn’t want to do the touching so altogether it was an incredibly tense and unpleasant situation that I was close to ending multiple times because I felt so bad for both her and myself. The air was stiff and smelly and if I hadn’t had Covid I would have gotten out of there sooner. The practitioner explained nothing, ever. The oil that was used by the bucket felt like cooking oil. It was nasty! No explanation for the facial but when it started burning and I asked to have it removed the therapist disappeared for 10 minutes. Then she disappeared for another 20 before doing the super quick mani. There was a dingy shower next to the receptionist - next to a couch with men on it and traversing it in the (oil drenched) towel felt wrong for all the staring. There was only a communal towel in the toilet and a hospital soap dispenser dripping with hair so I went home. The shower at home was the most relieving shower I’ve ever had. On a bright note my friend had the big lady masseuse and this lady has been trained somewhere else and was a true professional. For her the massage therapy was enjoyable even though the seedy damp and smelly setting means she won’t come back.

I had such an amazing experience at The Purple Orchid spa in Century City. My therapist Alicy explained all the treatments to me throughout the session and constantly checked up on me. She is extremely friendly and we were conversating throughout my treatments. I would definitely recommend!

I bought a voucher on Hypeli for Hyde Hotel accommodation and spa treatment. The hotel experience was absolutely amazing, clean fresh room, food was great and so i automatically expected the spa to be as amazing as the hotel standard until was got to the spa (im not sure how you can call this place a spa) and it was horrific from the time we got to the basement where it is located.. My husband and I were taken to a tiny room with absolutely NO ventilation, it smelt like sour feet and when I told the therapist she brought in a bottle of air freshener and sprayed the entire room leaving us chocking on the fumes for the entire time we were there. The room had no scent of aromatherapy, no ambiance, not a candle and scented stick, 4 white walls and dark grey dungeon looking patched up ceiling, 2 beds and chair for your clothing. I asked the therapist to adjust the aircon because it was blowing cold air onto us and she put it off, then it became even harder to breath. i asked my therapist if we could use another room, i was told no we booked for this room. (not sure what that meant.) Then the massage began, while being saturated in oil, i asked the therapist to please dim the bright lights, she turned it off, we lay in darkness, no background music, kind of creepy, the actual massage is going ok and then out of no where a group of woman sitting outside the room starts making a huge noise, talking, shouting, laughing loud as if they at party. I asked the therapist to please ask them to quiet down, she tried but her appearance to them made no difference, the racket went on for most of the massage. when we were finally done, my husband and I struggled to remove some of extra the non absorbent oil we were coated in, we were dripping in oil. This hole experience was appalling. The Purple Orchid, i hope you take my dreadful experience and make necessary changes so this does not reoccur with your other customers.

Very nice facial and full body massage by a very professional therapist.

This was the second time I have been to the spa. After the first I thought I would not go back. However a good while later I thought I would give it a second chance. For me there is only one word “underwhelming “-the ambiance, decor/ environment, attentiveness. To be fair the full body massage was satisfactory.

First and last time I will go to this place. Got a voucher for my birthday. Luxury spa treatment with lunch. I took my sister in law with me. Nice looking place. No propper covid testing done. Therapists came to fetch is at reception without introducing either one of them. It felt as if we were imposing on their time the whole time. The massage etc itself was ok, however their attitude was dismal and their communication worse. I wanted to pay for my sister in law with my bank card. It would not go through. One of our therapists asked if I had cash and I said no. She then asked if I could pay via eft and I said yes, upon which she handed me their scanscan barcode. I said to her I do not have snapscan so I would need actual banking details. She sighed numerous times and eventually gave me the details and I processed the payment. Then they were just quiet. So, when we asked ok so where do we go for the lunch part of the package they looked as if they had hoped we would not ask. The other therapist then got up from where she was busy on her phone and took us to the Bricklane eatery. Thank goodness the second part of this package was much better than the first part. The hostess, waiting staff, atmosphere and food were great! If it were not for them, I would consider the day a total flop. I am in retail myself and I know we just went through a very rough patch with covid. But if you have hopes of giving your business a fighting chance you would need to be delivering 200% better service. I would not recommend this place to anyone.Elana

Lovely relaxing treatment at a good price.

I went for a full body massage and an express pedicure. I had what would be considered a rub down and not a massage. It seemed that the therapists were not sufficiently trained if trained at all. The existing nail polish on my toenails, although natural colour were not removed and my toenails were filed and buffed with old nail polish. My toenails looked worse after the pedicure. This was done while i was sitting on the same bed that i received my massage with poor lighting. I dont know how the therapist could see properly. Unfortunately, I will definitely not be returning and will also not recommend the place. On the up side, the staff were friendly.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, I was not happy with hygiene though. They had a chair for us to place our clothes, it was dirty so we literally had to ask a member of staff to cover it. Also we had to rinse with cold water apparently the geyser is small. I was not happy...

The staff are friendly and the therapists are really gentle. When they heard it was our Anniversary they even got us some sparkling wine. We had a full body massage, facial, mani, pedi and then ended off with a body scrub. Before we knew it 4 hours had gone by! Thanks Ashleigh and Alice

My nails were filed down to my skin for absolutely no reason. The therapist was great at the massage and facial but she was not experienced for nails at all. I was very disappointed and surprised to still be charged for my soak off.
