The only recommendation I can give is to maybe get a bigger variety on the menu. Other than that the ambiance and music was stunning

What a beautiful venue. The music is amazing, we had a great band, with great sound and vibes. The food was good. No alcohol available, so bring your own. They charge quite a bit for bringing your own spirits (not stated on the Web page)The only down side to the crypt is that the service is horrendous! The waitress could not care less that we had to walk into the kitchen to ask for everything we needed. At least she collected our plates between smoke breaks. Sitting next to the bar to Facebook while we walk pass.No manager to answer to the bad service.

Lovely and different experience in a beautiful place. Unfortunately it took a while to be waited on, and when the food came some people only got theirs when others were finishing. Might be better to go as a small group :)

Great service by the friendly and professional staff in a unique environment. The music was great and we thoroughly enjoyed listening and dancing to Afro Fiesta! The food (we had Steak Frites and apple crumble) was good, but not great. This is a place to visit for the music and atmosphere, not the food.

Live Music was absolutely Incredible and an unforgettable experience and if it was based on that Solely I would be giving a 5 star rating !! However, their new management is not much to go buy!! 45min into waiting for our meal our waitress (Who was amazing) informed us that one of the dishes selected from there menu was unavailable so a new dish was selected off the menu 30min later when our food finally arrived we were informed the second dish was also unavailable leaving one member of our party to watch us eat dinner. When I bought this to the managers attention I was asked, What must he do about it not to ruin my evening any further I returned to my dinner Grilled rump steak that was served with a butter knife was tough and fatty the most tasty thing on my plate was the vegetables! I would recommend you eat prior not to be disappointed and double check your bill as I paid entry a month in advance and was recharged on my bill.

The music was lovely but they never told us we would have to pay R220 cover charge for it. We popped in for a quick coffee after a night out in town and only saw the R220 surcharge on the coffee for the first time when we got the bill. I do not mind paying cover charge but if so, would rather have planned a visit where we could have stayed longer and enjoy the music. We feel ripped off as we were there for 30 minutes. The service was also terribly slow. This venue is lovely and I really feel they can do better - or at least tell you you are welcome for coffees but there is a R110 cover charge per person.

Really great music, Future Legends killed it. The only issue we had was the R95 beer and burger special. The website still shows the special but when we asked our waiter about it he said that it is no longer in use, which was a bit misleading.

Cool jazz restaurant. Book ahead. The food is average. Very interesting ambience as the restaurant is set at the corner of a church! The restaurant lists its liquor licence in november so for the next two or three months bring your own. There is a corkage fee...oh and book a table. It is a small intimate place that fills up fast...I will come back here again... I hope that will have better food... the same beautiful music... and a liquor licence ;-)

Amazing entertainment. On the night a group called Afro Fiesta were there. Highly recommended looking out for them to be there. My food was really good but small portion. Definitely could have done with more food. Had a curry. All other people at our table of 4 were disappointed with their meal. Especially since the prices can be considered above average.

Live nice jazz with some local artist. Check the program before going...sometimes there are too many of the local African bands and the music ended up of a blend of black African and a pitch of jazz. Ok if you like that and want to experiment away from the classic jazz. The food was horrible... really. And very little. Eat before going. Not expensive in any case. Will visit again.

Spent a great evening here despite a mix up with on line booking which meant we joined a sharer’s table which was fine. All the staff were attentive and although the food was a little slow there was great music to keep you entertained. The music was great, with a distinct African style to jazz. The place was packed and everyone was having a good time. Some tables talking over the music but I suppose you can expect this at a jazz restaurant rather than a jazz ‘club’. Good selection of wines and beers and prices by UK standards were a steal. Two good main courses, a bottle of Glenwood Chardonnay, bottle of still water and the cover charge only came to £42 between two. Doorman was good and organised a reputable taxi for us within a few minutes of us wanting to leave around 11.00pm.

I love this place for multiple reasons , it is located in basement of st George cathedral which has great political significance during the apartheid times, they have a gallery of pictures representing a few incidents. Then we attended live jazz music performance which was simply outstanding. They HV played around interior of the church n not changed it a lot which is lovely because of the Victorian details in the architecture

The service was possibly the worst I have ever encountered in an establishment. We walked into a quarter occupied restaurant (it isnt even a big place) and had to wait and try find a waiter so we could find our reserved table (reserved a month prior and placed on a table without a view of the stage, right next to the drum kit). Once seated we waited 10 minutes without menus and even had to go find a waitress to receive menus. From there we were waited on by a hostess (after another delay in time) as apparently the waiters serving two tables each were much to busy, not the waiters fault rather the management team should account for such disaster. Once we ordered the drinks another 15 minutes past. We left, having to cancel our drinks order at 8:30 after arriving at 7:50, not one apology made. Just a shrug of the shoulders and not a care in the world.

Why dont you take action against this crazy habit of the crowd to keep on talking loud when music is played? Just make an announcement at the time music starts, telling the crowd to SHUT UP! when the band is playing!!! Again when next set is on, just grab the mic and tell people to go somewhere else if they need to talk!!! Thanks!
