If you ever feel desperate again there is one lady working in the aisles who will go out of her way to assist you - even check with the Merchandising Manager if the item is out of stock. She was the fourth person I asked and voila! Hope she gets rewarded as a loyal employee

I take it that it is a common practice of the cashiers of this store to ill treat customers. First of all they have long chats with fetllow staff before they call you in a disrespectful manner. Speak to you as if youre an animal.Dont thank you for your support or loyalty..Dont evens think about them greeting you after handing your change or till slip.Nect tone Ill support the Somalian at the local tuck shop..At least they greet. Till number 36 at 17.53 todasy.. Mafusi Lesesa...You need more training dear.

The place is enormous, but even though Checkers advertise stocking 7000 cheeses or something like that I could not find Ricotta. Neither could I find someone to assist the search. Alas I settle for a prego roll. What a sensation. I think checkers managed to cook the knock off crocs they didnt manage to sell and put it on a bun. Never in my life I have chewed so long on a piece of meat. Not zero stars, no, this prego roll kept me chewing long after it was supposed to be on the way to my small intestines, therefor great value! That was not meat on the prego roll, did have a faint taste though, wont be a challenger for the more evolved beyond meat trying to serve non-meat as meat. I am concerned when the meat will exit my system as I doubt it would digest at all at I predict serious issues ahead.

Sloppy merchandising and indifferent service.Maybe nice products but not backed up y customer service.No product knowledge, incorrect directions to products, no prices. Waste of my time even coming here. I have choice. Voting with my feet.

In the 6 months I have been in SW, this branch had been in chaos - they are constantly re-arranging without updating their isle markers, staff are uninformed or simply unable to help as they struggle to keep up with the chaos and constant re-shuffling. It is a pity as they do have a range of product options but I cannot, and not wish, to spend 30 min looking for 3 standard products with the help of staff

Shocking service today. If there is an unintended shortage of staff, please advise your shoppers to expect delays. As there was no such courtesy extended to your shoppers I assume this bad service is simply how Checkers operates. Disappointed!

Try to avoid checkers hyper. Staff unhelpful, shop is a mess, no service at deli, long line at till. Got so expensive!!! Today the 60 min delivery guys had a fight in parking, what a joke those guys! Checkers hyper you lost a customer!

Great supermarket, be sure to park at main entrance they broke into my car and stole my car radio at the entrance where the public toilets are!

UPDATE: I cant leave another review, so I will just update this one. The new circus layout has put the final nail in your coffin for me. The checkout mess is just insane. Now not even ebucks will get me to shop here. So long.Its always HORRIBLE going here. Sullen and miserable cashiers and useless management. The ONLY reason I still shop at Checkers is for ebucks. I WISH I didnt have to.

The new till que layout is very frustrating and disappointing. We are not sheep that needs to be stuck in between shelve rows.

Staff do not follow covid protocol. They stand ontop of you in the line (with their items) so you move to the side of your trolley to create some distance then they touch the trolley like its their groceries inside moving it forward and so on. When you get to a till they put their stuff with yours and pretend to assist the cashier basically throwing your food in the bags to get the sale done so they can purchase their stuff, working over the cashier, talking loudly to the cashier so you cant hear a word shes telling you. This is unacceptable and so unprofessional.

The new impulse queue that youve setup is an absolute nightmare! zero points to the brightspark who approved this!Adding a minimum of ten minutes to your trip ..this is so inconvenient!so many tills and only a one mile long queue

Only issue I have is when an item on the shelf does not match the barcode underneath it. Waste of time to sort it out at the busy tills! Clean, well stocked and plenty of parking.

We waited at till no 10 for almost 5 minutes whilst the cashier washed the till surface at a snails pace whilst having a conversation with the packer . This happened at 3.45 on Teusday 5 Jan 2021. Your service levels in this store is unacceptable. Teach your staff that without customers they will not get paid .

Always a pleasure to find almost everything under one roof. Queues can be a bit long, but if youre going for a full shopping trip its usually worth the wait. Great outdoors department as well. The supervisory staff members also seem to be very involved with customers thus resulting in proper customer care. Parking is not a problem and they also cater for disabled persons.

Great shopping experience every time I visit(almost daily).One thing I would request, that really bothers me: when buying from the Deli, the Checkers staff (going on lunch)always bombards the place, and other customers don’t get noticed/assisted. I tried how many times to phone the Branch manager but without success. Somebody answers the phone with only Hallo, the nlet you hang on forever. I eventually after so many calls gave up. Poorest service ever I have experienced over the telephone

I find everything i need in the shop but the service at the tills is just the worst, very slow and short staffed. I waited 20min on the queue to pay. It didnt happen once or twice but several times. I dont know why this issue hasnt been addressed 2 years of shopping here even not in the lockdown period.

Spent hours in the shop, being payday weekend. Got home and realised the meat we bought was expired more than a week ago. Phoned the shop to speak to the manager. Called 7 times, only twice they answered, just to hold on till the call got cut. Not a very good experience. Would like to know who we can speak to if we have a problem.

Twice in a row now when shopping at Checkers Hyper Somerset we have found that after going through checkout that prices on several items were not as advertised. The first time after 30min at the customer service counter they refunded us. This is a huge waste of time though. Second time we didnt have time as the store was closing. This is unacceptable as I cant trust any prices since I dont know if what they are charging and what Im paying is the same I dont want to spend 30min after each shopping trip fixing their mistakes.

Definitely a Hyper store with a broad catalogue. Theres an abundance of till points which streches from one entrance to the other, but I find it unnecessary that cashiers are only placed at one end which is an inconvenience if you used the far entrance due to parking on that side of the centre.

I really like the shop, always clean and mostly have what Im looking for. Im just very annoyed with the Priority till for parents with toddlers They should rather close this till and take the big banner off. As a mother of 3 kids, 2 being toddlers I have not once been given preference at this till, in spite of all the people in front of me with not 1 baby, toddler or even a child with them. I also regularly visit this specific Checkers NEVER been given preference and bought it under the customer service persons attention who simply said you should be given preference even though it never happens!

My favourite Checkers and a one-stop-shop. You can get everything from electronics to gardening soil to kitchen ware and food all under one roof. Always well stocked and efficient staff. Never had a problem returning goods and staff always accommodating and go out of their way to help.

Great place to do all my necessary shopping. Has almost everything in one place. Easy access with 2 entrances. Only down side is that their is never a full set of cashiers available regardless of the day of the month.An extra thing to add is that their is also a checkers Liquor store right outside the store so you can grab any of the basic booze options you might need.

Good store with wide variety. For the last three years I have done about 70% of my grocery shopping here. Queues are often long and till points are under staffed. Meat prices are high and nearby retail competitors often have better cuts at lower prices. Otherwise it really is well laid out and the specials aisles and fresh produce sales are great!

I actually want too give you 0, for I havent received ANY SERVICE! I have been phoning for 3 hours non stop and NO ANSWER! This is pathetic and a joke. Highly frustrated.

Checkers Hyper in Helderberg Centre have refined ripping off customers to an art. If you want to see manipulative marketing tricks in real life, just visit checkers, they know every dirty trick in the book.Whenever theres a special, you can be sure that the rack of the discounted product is completely empty, while the other products are stocked well. But whats worse is that you will often find the expensive products placed in the discounted rack, so if you dont check whether the product in the rack is truly the product on the (discounted) price tag, you end up paying full price while thinking you scored a bargain. The price difference is usually more than R5 per item.This is not coincidence or something that happens once in a while, they do it on purpose. I see it on a weekly basis.Price tags are often missing. Is it that difficult to stick the CORRECT tags next to the products?Also, the racks of discounted products are empty during the promotion period, but the first day after the promotion has ended you will find the rack full again.And dont get me started on products that have expired. I have seen dairy products at least one month past their expiry date.Come on Checkers, get your act together.Very dissatisfied customer.

Yesterday I went to Checkers Hyper, I received absolute horrible service, asked for an Aramex delivery bag and all I got was attitude and NO help. I was disappointed..it was very pathetic.

Like the shop and very competitive prices. However I recently left behind a bag of groceries in my trolley (lower shelf of 2 shelf trolley). Only discovered it once I got home. Despite phoning the store repeatedly for an hour, no one answered. Very poor customer service. I’ll now have to drive from Gordon’s Bay for a bag that may not have been handed in. Items clearly marked 50% off are not always reduced at the till. This applies to all Checkers stores in the area.

I like coming to this Checkers as often as I can. Its nice and close to home, quite clean and definitely well positioned right next to Somerset Mall in a lovely little sub shopping center.I do have one complaint, the price tags are almost always missing on things so Im always guessing what stuff costs. That truly frustrates me when Im in a hurry and trying to work within a budget.Beyond that, the bread is fresh, the meat is fresh, the prices not bad and you earn Ebucks and you can spend it here.

Checkers hyper has introduced a Parents tots Till.It is slower than the rest of the Tills.The review of this is the following.Good store to visit.Fresh produce.But the staff at the cashier side are not very friendly.Management should take a look into that.Some Cashiers are rather slow at there work

I love this Checkers. It is large and has everything. The service is good. There is sufficient parking. The shop itself is very large and well laid out.

Absolutely everything one needs for the monthly shop under one roof. Good prices. Can get very busy at month end. Generally a great shopping experience if not too busy.

Situated in the fairly recently built Helderberg Mall, close to Somerset Mall, this mega store usually lives up to the expectations of a hyper store. The supervisory staff members also seem to be very involved with customers thus resulting in proper customer care. Parking is not a problem and they also cater for disabled persons.

This Checkers is huge, you can find just about anything here. From tools to stools, foods to sweet goods. Camping gear, toiletries and clothing to wear. They even have a pharmacy section. It is quite big and is popular.

Parking convenient and plentiful. This mall is modern and fantastic, a little spacious as so big so often the impression of being empty. Good bakery and always friendly service and very good promotions and prices.

Big selection, good prices (Often beating out even Builders Warehouse). Its just a pity that the staff, of which there is ample, are not a bit more attentive. Loads of items do not have prices on the shelves. One of the 3 price check machines has been broken for over 6 months. When staff are packing shelves they seem to forget that people actually still need to use the aisles. Everytime I have been there almost a third of the cashiers are either closed or there are not enough cashiers on duty. Management, fix your staff issues and youll get a 5 star rating from me.

Shop is well run. Always have stock. Warm foods are nice. Cheese selection is great. A good shopping experience overall!

This is a wonderful checkers. The fresh produce is lovely and everything you can imagine for sale. Prices are good too. Worth the visit!

Variety is great, prices and specials good. The aisles are very narrow and there are always bins or displays to make movement even more difficult. Our experience on 16 December was not good: tellers VERY slow and many items had no barcode just to make service even slower.

One of the best hyper shops in the area. Well organized. Not difficult to find what you are looking for. There is also, staff on the floor that are very approachable and friendly when you need help in any way

Very clean store and access to all your household needs and has a pharmacy. Cashier / till lines can move a bit slow, bur we have always had a pleasant shopping experience. Our preffered shop. They also have a parent with tots till which is a great concept.

Very well stocked Checkers. Hyper might be an overstatement. Rows are very narrow and the whole space is super tight.Ample parking, good selection of add-on shops around.

The experience to shop there was easy they always help you with a smile parking is enough all the products that i have bought there was very fresh i like them a lot.

Shop is fine its not a bad layout to crammed for my liking when busy it gets to be like bumper cars with the trolleys. Staff were ok. Pharmacist was very helpful. Ques not bad. But again these odd little centres that pop up around Somerset West mall are ridicilous. You need to park shop get back in the car drive miles to the next place and sane again. So badly designed. Again stay away from Somerset West Mall area.

Price very much the same as P&P. Big diff for us we get pensioners discount and smart shopper card. This makes a big diff. This is also the opinion of many others and we tried it.

This checkers has everything you will need. Literally everything. However the vegetable section was sad. They didnt have thing like coleslaw. The lettuce leave where all old and turning brown. And when picking sweet potatoes there were little miggies flying around and over the potatoes that swarmed around when I was trying to pick potatoes. Plus I saw a rotting potato in the pile too. They really need to restock the veggie with fresh veggies. However, other than that, I would recommend shopping here.

A great checkers offering most of what youd expect at a checkers but with a bigger venue than some, it does offer a lot of food, toys and house stuff. Its also a cleaner checkers than some Ive been in.

Had to wait in the queue at the lotto and water & lights payment counter forever. First we waited forever at the bakery section because the lady helping us was doing her utmost to work as slow as possible...or so it seemed. Then only one very slow teller on and then to make it worse...the other staff from other departments kept distracting her with other stuff because customers always come last in South African service industries. Disgusting pathetic service.
