Bought some chips and hot wings this evening. It is the worst, chicken is still raw and not even hot, ontop of that, the chicken is like a piece of rubber not to mention the chips was like eating cardboard.Very Very bad tasting food and prepared very badly.

Myself my wife and my 2 kids were at checkers this evening and my pregnant wife felt light headed and was about to faint. I held her so she would not fall and the checkers staff was very helpful and concerned, they took one of the cashier seat so my wife could sit and one other staff member brought my wife some water to drink. This store manager can learn some tips from Vredenberg West Coast Mall Store. Learn how to greet customers, smile with a friendly face and show appreciation for who pays your wages. Rude is the menu for the day. I certainly wont be back in a hurry! Staff looks like they on the point of striking/ protesting! No hint of enthusiasm or courtesy. No interest in wanting to discuss my item charged for that looked like a misprint. I actually decided to wall out to spare myself the embarrassment of questioning anything.I was going to buy the rock/aluminium cooking set for R1699 but left it for buying at Game because Checkers Canal Walk doesnt deserve the additional profits. Really disgusted in your staffs attitude and presence. Ill only shop at Vredenberg Branch in future. A much better laid out store and staff that actually care about where their wages comes from. The staff is a direct indication of the manager.Lack of pricing on your products,a huge toilet roll display and not a single pricetag?Hake at R129/kg and isnt even a fillet. Try sourcing your hake from Seaharvest Factory store make some profit and still sell it at an edible price!!!!Well done for screwing your brand up sir!

I ordered my groceries on the Checkers Sixty app, oranges are full of mold and still green.

I guess we should be used to the non existing service from this place, went the yesterday at like 19h30pm and the cashier didnt greet me at all, she saw I was paying with a card and I attempted tapping my card for payment and it declined she saw me attempting to tap the card and didnt say anything that it wouldnt work and when the card declined she looked at me like she was so irritated that she needed to try again. I asked why didnt you say anything and she just looked at me and said insert the card. I then just had it with the poor customer service and left. I cant believe that this is now a normal behavior at this store and we just need to deal with it.

Checkers is clean and stocks a wide range of produce. Many imported produce can be found at this supermarket.

I am a staff member of 1 the retail stores in Canal Walk and recently decided to get a bite to eat at Checkers and have a sit down in their self service sit down area... But every day it just looks worst... I think the store manager needs to make it clear to ALL who will be sitting down there, that they need to clean up after themselves or lose the idea of having a self service sit down area if a Checkers staff member is not going to be appointed to take care of that specific department of the store.

The deli is awesome here. Quick service.

Decided to give Checkers a second chance but as per usual the fruit and vegetables were rotting on the shelf. I bought two overpriced avocados which seemed like the only two that were not rotten on the shelf but of course they were rotten on the inside. Such a waste of money and time!

We love shopping here. There is a fantastic wine selection that also offers wine tasting. The deli counter and cheese selection is awesome. There is a fantastic butchery and bakery. Generally this is a well stocked store. It is situated on the ground floor at one of the entrances at the mall, making it really convenient for ease of shopping.

I shopping there every Saturday and I was very disappointed in the bakery department bought milk tart and it was rotten bad experience. Please check that the bakery staff put prices on fresh products and and old products that was standing in the store room.

What a pleasant experience I had yesterday. There were some canned food prices that were advertised incorrectly. I asked one of the staff members that were packing shelves at the time but he couldnt really assist and went to get one of the senior staff. A pleasant gentleman came, Desmond. FAST FORWARD, >>>. I continued with my shopping. On arrival at the till, Desmond was there to make sure I got the deal for the canned tins. Thank you Desmond. You went over and above for a customer. 5*

Poor service at the deli station..went there to buy my lunch and there were 3 people working there.. surprisingly they ran out of chips..I mean how do u run out of something when there r 3 of you working there??my lunch is only 45 mins and I spent 30mins on the que waiting for chips..It doesnt make sense at all..

Expired fresh produce.Opening times show 8AM on a Saturday but my pregnant wife was made to stand until 9AM when Checkers actually opened.Short dated goods, stock shortage issues regularly.Poor quality foods.I think its time to change.

Rude staff. They would rather be hiding in theback of the store chatting in groups than help paying customers. They get annoyed when you interrupt them to ask for help, then insult you in Xhosa behind your back, but dont realize that some customers speak and understand Xhosa very well. Worst Checkers in Cape Town.

What a pleasant shopping experience, everything was so neatly organized, great variety of products to choose from, isles all clearly marked, you even had wool, and I love the self help scale in fruit and vegetables section. Congrats Checkers, I love your upgrades - felt like a new store, will definitely be shopping here.

Totally disappointed in the service. The butchery side the lady looks at you and does not help you. Then the bakery side I had the same experience. To top it off the cooked meals by the deli has flies, flying around and on top of the food I bought the cauliflower with broccoli bake only to eat a sour but off food the chef does not check and they definitely do not wash there vegetables I would not eat there cooked meals. Then to top it off I have been buying the ready cooked chicken. The chilli was good and now they only have BBQ flavour which had no flavour and it was not cooked well I had to re cook it on a Sunday. That is not professional. When I spoke to this women manager she was not professional and through my slip and told me she would address the matter not professional at all I dont even know why they call her a manager. Brandon was good he spoke to me in a professional way and handled the matter. Then there is a lady in the butchery section whom I would love to give credit for she saw the lady behind the counter not helping while she was packing the meats onto the selves she left everything she was doing and she helped me with a smile. Thank you to you she wears glasses I forgot her name. Thank you for your service keep up the good work. I think this Checkers needs to check there food regularly and needs to speak to the staff not act the way they do as if they were racist. Please. It is serious. I hope you give the lady in the butchery section a high position as I can see she is the best. If I have to bring her to you I will do that. Thank you. Please see this a serious matter the service is very poor from all food counters!!!! Including the bakery side. Very disappointed. You need to ensure bags are kept by your panni breads and when I ask them to close the bag it is an ussue. Use the bags that you use by your vegetables counter that way the people can close it themselves. Please.Hope something will be done about this.

Never experienced such bad service in a long time. There is no proper system in place to help customers efficiently. The staff is lazy and helping you with a smile at all. You should work with your staff andbon their people skills. No for the food... Just as bad. The bread was soggy, the Milk tart ordered was dry and overall horrible. The sad part of this whole experience is, is the that it looks very inviting but then you are just disappointed on every single level.

Great imported wine and cheese selection. Can get extremely busy and cramped during month-end but thats normal. Since this store was revamped, its lovely to shop there. Customer-facing staff should concentrate on their customer centricity skills though... especially those ladies by the till.

Hires gutter scum as staff. Tonight at 8.15pm we were in the express queue one of their bulldog looking staff decided to push her way in front of my wife with 20 odd items in her basket. Manner less cur thinks she wears a white coat over her checkers uniform makes her special.

Terrible customer service, I bought a milk tart from this store on Saturday got home and noticed it had patches of mold on it. I called the store to rectify matters, I was told a manager will call me back. Its been two days & no one has called me back. Totally unacceptable.

This place really needs to invest in a modern checkout system comprising of just one queue and an electronic board directing patrons to the next available cashier. The individual queues to each cashier are too long and some move quicker than the others

Bugs crawling all over the deli counter food and service lady didnt seem to even care - just smiled and nodded when told about it. Heat and eat foods (pastas, pies, etc) are tasteless as well. Seems the face lift is just a mask for poor service, low quality products and health code violations. :D

At a crucial time of lunch hour (1hr)How in the hell can you not utilize all your pay point during this time.How can you only have you staff coming to work at 1:30 pmI waited more than 35min at the MONEY MARKET in a long line by the door waiting to purchase tickets.I was so disgusted that the store managers cant use their own initiative to get more staff at the POS.I was also disgusted when i was sent from the tills back to the money market.I refused and left my trolley with goods, Made a R3000 withdrawal and took my business to Pick n Pay instead.Nice shop does not compliment the SLA.At a Market Research point of view...that shop should not even exist in Canal Walk.I have too much negative things to share right now about this store because it is not the first time i experienced such bad planning.The staff is not to blame here...I blame Management.Regards,The customer who post compliments and complaints on many sites for reviews

Great selection of fruit veg and breads

Last week I visited this store for the first time and I was sooooo impressed with the delicatessen section. The cold meats were super fresh and the lady sliced some ham and salami for me and it was delicious. So today I went back and wanted to buy some more. What a difference with last weeks display!! The same hams and meats were there indeed, but they must have been ready-sliced DAYS ago, they looked all shrunken and dried up and browny old, very offputting. Please tell them not to slice the meats in advance!!! What a disappointment! These expensive cold meats should only be sliced on demand!

First time here since the revamp. Much prettier but not practical at all. More appliances and non food items than food. Disappointed. Hardly any staff on hand to assist.

Great variety but the queues! Shocking.

Last night I went to get a few items and had such bad service. There was some kind of an issue with the cashiers and only 2 on the xpress tills. The ques where getting longer at xpress and one of the customers actually called the manager to ask as to why so little cashiers. Eventually when it was my turn I asked the cashier what the problem was cause it can never take 45 min for 10 items. Her reply was that the managers are fighting among themselves and some cashiers had to work extra time and all kinds of drama. I phoned the manager today to complaint and he just said hes sorry there was an issue with cashiers taking extended lunch hours and people where complaining about it. He is sorry. I just feel why should customers carry the burden of staff issues. We work long hours and could support our local shops but we still come CW only to experience such unnecessary issues. Please Checkers sort your staff issues out. Thats the reason we rather go to P&P or Woolies......
