So I got on board the hype train and decided to go here for breakfast. The asthetic of the place was really amazing , its like walking into a different world. The staff were Really welcoming and friendly .But down to business , I had 2 cups of coffee, a flat white and a black pour over. Exceptional cups of coffee, the best Ive ever had.The food was good but not the best Ive ever had, but you dont go here for food , you go here for the coffee. We did buy some bags of coffee to take home and the staff ground the coffee to my liking.Definitely take the time to go here .
Exquisite coffee experience … still beats all the coffees I’ve tried before … their breakfasts are insanely good and love the vibe and decor …Unbelievably they have been voted in the top coffees of the world … Truth Coffee Roasting has specialized in selecting and roasting some of the world’s most exclusive coffees. Named the world’s best coffee shop by the The Daily Telegraph for two years in a row, we strive to have you Taste the Joy of the Extraordinary and I dare say I do agree ..“Truth Coffee Roasting shop in Buitenkant street, Cape Town, has been mentioned by acclaimed UK news agency, The Telegraph, as being the very best in the whole world – and we agree they’re the cream of the crop! From a list of 13 unique coffee shops and roasteries in the world, Truth’s steampunk-inspired artisan coffee shop – a warehouse filled from top to bottom with metal piping and quirky, old machinery – surfaced on top, grinding out some of the top shops in France, Vienna, Singapore and Italy. “Loved the eggs Benedict and French toast !
Truth coffee is the best coffee shop in the world. The décor is simple and industrial style. Its very clean, the staff is super friendly and the service is just great. The menu helps you choose the coffee specialities and if you cant find what youre looking for, the friendly staff will help you.The coffee is extremely tasty and you can taste every single note in the coffee. You have to come here, try it for yourself and you wont regret it.
No, its not New York, but how similar is this building??!!!If coffee, chocolate, great food, friendly service, flapper music, steam punk, industrial interiors and anything olde world is your vibe, then youll love the TRUTH COFFEE experience.Honestly??? I think I just died and went to heaven. The detailing in the decor to create this theme is brilliantly executed.Bravo!!!! Just incredible. ♡(PS: theres a parking garage right across the road which is a great help.)
It’s on my bucket list for a bit long, went there in 2019 and it was crowded. So this time just stopped by after finished my paperwork in the town and grabbed some coffees. The waitress at the takeaway counter was very friendly and even showed me more details about the coffee shop, I am really impressed by the sounds of beans rolling and being roasted.
So I purchased these 4 desserts and shame, it was honestly really really bad.The apple crumble cake being the worst with the apples tasting so sour and the caramel being unbearably sweet and not in nice way. The textures of it just didnt make sense and overall it upset me and my friend. The carrot cake was also just not moist but oily and burnt, I didnt know cake could be oily... the icing on the carrot cake was also like a sugar paste which combined with the oily/burnt cake was disastrous. The cheesecake was covered in this caramel like almost jelly caramel mou as they call it which was tasteless and the actual filling was not that of a traditional cheesecake but was like a splitting cream that if you left outside a fridge a few minutes it would start melting away. I am a cheesecake lover and this was the worst Ive ever had... regular fridge set cheesecakes are 100 times more appetizing. The chocolate brownie was the most bearable of the lot, however an easy bake packet of brownie mix bought from the store fares better. My friend and I took one bite of each dessert and threw it out. A real waste of R205.I heard that this place is known for their coffee... great. I would really not advise getting any of their cakes/desserts though. I havent felt this sick in a while.
The decor on this place is a must-see where the staff makes you feel right at home with a friendly smile. As a first-time visitor to Cape Town, I appreciated Andrews (Staff Member) sense of love for their coffee, where he took the time to educate us on what makes Truth Coffee your ultimate choice.
Stunning upbeat spot with a little something of everything. The milkshake are just as filling as the meals. Staff is dressed funky and according to the restaurants theme. We where seated immediately and told the menu is online deu to covid. The only reason its only 4 stars 🌟 is because I only got my drink after my boyfriend had already received his milkshake and burger 🍔. Other than that a great spot 👍
I visit this case and roastery every time i visit CT , fresh/specialty coffee , well prepared and extracted and amazingly served , the welcoming and table service is unique , dressing somehow like cowboys and classic theme , the food is also you will find tasty and delicious m i picked the most amazing i tried in the pic
Disappointing! We went to the place after some recommendation, but the experience wasn’t good. The service was really slow and sometimes disrespectful (I felt like I was asking for a favor), I had to ask a few times for the food to return to the kitchen because it was cold. The coffee is really good, but when I balance the experience I had versus the quality of the coffee, I would not recommend this place!
This coffee shop is legendary. It is an experience for big time coffee lovers. Take your time to read the menu, which gives you a guide on the different types of coffees and blends. There is also a great food menu and divine cakes. Everything is artfully presented. The staff are dressed to fit the steam punk theme of the decor. Feel free to take photos, and of the doorman! Excellent covid safety is in place. There is a small step at the entrance so it is not completely wheelchair friendly. There is no dedicated parking.
I love this place, very romantic. Good date spot. However, its expensive lol. The burgers were dry and didnt taste good at all.Id recommend just having coffee and a cake or something.
What a great cup of coffee... best so far... food was also good. The designated and layout of the restaurant was stunning
Right from the Mad Max movie, the best coffee in town. But have you ever tried to make good latte art? It is really difficult, now look at these pieces of art! Hard to take a sip.
Fantastic themed coffee shop, with great coffee and friendly + well trained staff. Would definitely recommend to anyone in Cape Town
I liked this place very much. Coffee and breakfasts are amazing. deserts are light and zesty. I ordered steampunk Benedict with salmon and spinach - love! Staff went out from “Mad Max, fury road” movie it seems , they are confident and looks like a crew with their own secret that you want to know;) recommended 100%!
I like my coffee, like A LOT. I have had coffee all over South Africa and Canada and I can truly say that this coffee is in my top three. But they say that the taste buds are effected by ones mood... and my mood was very good, as the staff were so friendly and helpful. Despite the coffee being more expensive than most places Ill give it 5/5!
Such a different and unique place this is, with waiters dressed old school, specialized in roasting coffee to top that. Coffee lovers will absolutely love this, food and service are great and you can also buy the coffee beans.
Nice enough coffee. I had the oats. It was comically gross (!) - hahah. Internet doesn’t really work either.
Anyone who loves coffee and lives in Cape Town will know Truth Coffee. They are by far the best coffee shop in the province and any time you can visit there you should. The food, coffee and staff are all out of this world! It’s hard to visit and stop at just one cup of coffee, so I’d recommend you try a Silky Rez and a Battle Brew along with any of the amazing dishes they have on offer. Take a group of friends and it’ll be the best part of your day for sure.
Exceptional service! Our waitress went above and beyond! The coffee did not disappoint, rich and flavourful. I’m a mocha aficionada and theirs meet my approval 😄The French toast with blueberry compote is deliciousGreat decor. Will definitely be back!
Attention to detail and the perfect cup of coffee are on the menu here. So unique, great decor, brilliant service and the best cup of coffee in town. I can see why they were voted best coffee shop in THE WORLD.
Popped in for a quick coffee and bite to eat. The coffee was amazing especially the cold brew. Misting system inside is lovely. Decor is interesting and exciting with the steam punk theme. Service was great. Pastries were tasty. Gluten free options are extremely limited so we opted for lunch somewhere else. If you want to add cheese to your croissant you will have to fork out R40 extra, which is more than what the croissant itself costs. I think you can find better value for your buck somewhere else in terms of food. I will go back for the coffee anyday.
Amazing flat white...If you enjoy drinking coffee, this is the place for you.Great selection of drinks, hot or cold with a vibe that pairs well with the drink.Very friendly and helpful staff. They also offer short coffee courses/training to take your coffee passion to a next level.Or grab some coffee beans and enjoy them at home...
Amazing place !!!!Their food , cakes and of course their coffee is to die for.
Before visiting I read multiple times that this cafe was by far one of the bests on the world. I had to try it! Decoration was great, and the concept of creating the best coffee was good. They roasted and grained the coffee mixing different types of coffee! Staff were attentive and lovely. However, I would recommend to make their menu more clear and simple, as the design overlapped and was “too much” and it lost some of the originality. Also, service took too much time for a simple cup of coffee and the place was overcrowded. It is worth visiting!
Was dog friendly, coffee was great, food was amazing. Definitely a place to check out
We LOVED it here. Great atmosphere, great staff, fabulous coffee and breakfast. Great recommendations from staff as far as coffee goes, even got some to take home! The guys were a hoot, fun loving and energetic. Place was a little crowded but for good reason, it’s a fun place!
Definitely the best coffee shop I have been. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the coffee. We ate breakfast as well and it was great value as well as the best Eggs Benedict I have had! Extremely impressed with Truth! P.S. Best freshly squeezed orange juice!
Really fun experience. Good coffee too!
Decided to have Truth as we were in town. I won’t lie, I never really understood the hype until I went there. The coffee was extremely flavorful and the texture of the milk was insane. I can’t wait to go back sometime soon! I now understand the hype. We didn’t go inside as it was quite busy but I’m excited to see what more Truth has to offer.
Dropped in here for coffee and breakfast upon the recommendation from a friend. So glad we did! The coffee was excellent (I love the resurrection blend), breakfast was equally as good, and the staff friendly and accommodating, and they have an obvious passion for coffee. The cafe decor was interesting, and we just enjoyed being there. We ended up just hanging out for a few hours! We will be back!
Out of this world experience!! Steam punk dressed up waiters all around you with the aroma off roasted beans! The vibe is great and the coffee indescribable!!!
I am SO HAPPY I heard of this place through a friend, and I could visit in my last day in Cape Town. The atmosphere is vibrant! The decoration and outfit of the waiters is amazing, the food and drinks presentation, flavor AND price just made me even happier haha.I wish I would have had more time to spend there, the benedictine eggs were amazing! The variety of coffee, tea and drinks was outstanding.I will surely visit again when I come back to the Cape.If you are around, go!PS. Loved the name, would like to know the story behind the name.
Awsome Place, Waiters was very kind the food is excellent coffee is great i love the theme they will definitely see me again i recommend everyone should visit Truth Coffee Cape Town .
The staff are friendly, and the steampunk theme really works. The food items are way too expensive, for example the brownies, you could getter better brownies for literally half the price at other cafes in cpt. The aesthetics are really cool though, and the food presentation is perfect, this place is a good destination for instagram pics. But, if you want affordable and good tasting foods (deserts) then try somewhere else.
AWESOME PLACE! Awesome Coffee!
A Very unique experience. This is a coffee shop like I’ve never experienced before!Decor is amazing and staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was great and the coffee was a bit to strong for my liking. Luckily they had decaf. Well worth the experience
Love the Steam Punk look and feel! The waiters and baristas also dress in steam punk style and all have the best vibe when you walk in. They are knowledgeable about the coffee and make excellent suggestions if you dont know what to try. There patisserie selection is freshly made and just delicious! Will definitely be back!
Slowly becoming a landmark in Cape Town for its coffee and steam punk theme... Good quality with friendly service all year round! Come and spend the morning or just pop in for a quick one. Whatever you choose to do you will not be disappointed!
Very very good coffee! Also like the interior design.
The amount of thought that went into this steam punk design is incredible. Even how they roast the coffee has completely blended into the design and has become a centre piece. They offer some twists to the traditional coffee drinks which melds with the theme and the food was decent as well. Not the traditional single origin small coffee shop, but once you visit you understand how it received so many five star reviews.
Loved our visit here in Feb 2020, when we were visiting South Africa for a holiday. The food and coffee are amazing- not to mention the baked goods! An out of this world chocolate almond croissant (one of my favourites too).Great vibe indoors, where you can see the coffee facilities too. The cold press was lovely, as was a soy flat white. Both menu items delicious.I would definitely rush back next time Im in SA!
Pros: Steampunk themed, staff dressed in theme, incredible interior, comfortable seating that can be intimate, soft lighting, even the toilets were themed, yummy food, service was goodCons: can be pricey depending on your order but again its nicely presented and good to tasteIts comfortable enough for a morning coffee and if youre willing to payout a bit extra you can get some tasty brekkies
Recommended by Marina at Free Walking Tours, this was an excellent experience during our Cape Town Walkabout! If you even just like coffee, you’ll love Truth. The long black was fantastic and all of the dishes coming out looked tasty and hearty. Great service and experience, whether you’re going for a meal or just a caffeine infusion. The Croque Monsieur looked out of this world and the dessert counter was impossible to resist.
Fantastic service. Great coffee. Great vibe
This space is so unique. Such a fun place to stop and get coffee. I wouldnt recommend the food, the food menu is small, but worth stopping for the coffee.
Service was a bit slowFood was amazingCoffee is just perfect I can’t think of a better coffee I have ever hadI’m in love with the theme
Best coffee I ever tasted in my life 😘. So friendly customers. You can also buy coffee beans. The will take you for a small walk showing the coffee bean and how they powdering it and all if you are interested .A must visit place is Capetown
Awesome variety of pastries and coffees.Nice ambience and mood. Love the industrial setup
A great experience if youre a Coffee lover.Good overall Vibe..
Good service, fresh ingredients
Well rounded cup of coffee. Amazing decor, real thought and pride went into creating this space with wait staff dressed to impress. Beautifully served, South-African favourite, lemon meringue. Coffee roasted on site and in full view. Loved it. ☕
Really cool café with an industrial style interior. Great experience, really focusing on the coffee. Great breakfast!
We really enjoyed our Truth Coffee experience. Amazing service and such kind and friendly staff. We cant wait to go back. Aaah and the coffee is perfect!!
Took a while for them to prepare the food but I guess it’s what it takes to make such tasty brunch.
Its a nice coffee house with awesome jass music playing in the background. We went there for breakfast early in the day and got a table easy. I got french toast that was yummy. Coffee was delicious. Staff is pleasant. Would recommend!
Great expereince once again. Waiter cud have been a little more friendly. Barrister is the Dantė of coffees.
Amazing atmosphere, awesome vibe. I dont know how you can rate them less than a 5.Waiters are friendly and Lennon is a special character... Will always ask for him.Reasonably priced for that quality... on point.
One of the best brownies I ever had. Coffee is delicious, staff is great and helpful. Bought single origin coffee beans for taking them home.My very friendly waitress explained a lot about the different coffee varieties and gave me a free espresso to try before buying the beans. The menu is fun to read - containing a lot of information about coffee and the place looks cool as well.Definitely a must-go place
This is a bit of a fun funky place. One of the few places in Cape Town that serves drip coffee. Just let the wait staff know what you are looking for in the way of flavor and theyll fix you up. The coffee is brought to your table while it brews. Great coffee for coffee lovers.
Scooter day. Find a bunch of Vespa riders gathering at one of the best coffee places in the town before kicking of their fun rides.First time here @ Truth Coffee and the experience is amazing. Coffee is super smooth and the aroma is elegant. Definitely high quality of roast and got unique touch from the brand. Also order a Benedict and the fresh food material is what u can sense from the first bite. The most charming part is the outdoor seat where you can get good sun tan to build up your energy along way with those nice caffeine. Highly recommended.
My actual favorite place now.I loved the aesthetic of the place and the staff was friendly and helpful.Best coffee Ive ever had.
Even it is very popular the prices are normal. Very nice stylish staff and great coffee. Nice steampunk looking place.
The place is really vibrant. Food is Delicious we tried Shakshuka, flat white and espresso. This place is recommended and we will be visiting it again.
Delicious coffee, awesome steam punk vibe
The vibe, staff and coffee was amazing. The desserts was epic and not too expensive.
A cafe for coffee connoisseurs rather than someone wanting just a cup of coffee. Very interesting style to the place, bursting with coffee history and expertise. The staff know exactly what they are talking about and were kind to help us with recommendations. It took a while to be served our coffee which was a shame considering most orders were espressos. I would say it’s like fine dining for coffee, not a place to necessarily chill out in a cosy environment.
Amazing coffee. Must do in Cape Town. One of the best coffees I ever had. You can choose the beans and the of coffee you one. It’s so good that they serve it with no sugar to add. You won’t need it!The menu has some tasty options. I went for Benedict eggs with avocado on toast plus an orange juice (not that good). Very tasty and good product. My only complain is that the bread slice was a bit too hard on the outside. That much that it was very difficult to cut using the knife. The place itself is beautiful fui l and charming. You feel somehow like home in there. The decoration is just wonderful.Service was fast. The place is very clean. Is 1 block away from the central police station so it’s a very safe area.
Trendy and busy. Good food, generous portions, speedy service despite it being so busy and exceptionally well trained staff.
5 all the way. There is a reason Truth coffee is no.1 in the world and coffee cafe no.2.Quite an experience. Every one visiting Cape Town need to at least have a coffee at Truth.Everything is excellent. Food, coffee, dessert, service, place is clean etc.Price outstanding for what you get, the best!
There is just something so unique about this place. It could be the incredible decor and atmosphere that transplants you into a new world of mechanical and steam inspired wonder, surrounding every table in steampunk copper and dark tones. Or it could be the awesome staff that dance around the dining hall to the beat of old time electronica. Each staff member is clad in clothes that make them appear to have just walked off stage or out of a novel. We went twice and each time our waiter paid close attention to our requests and made incredible coffee and food recommendations. So, you now know what the restaurant is like, but youre still asking, Bryan, tell me about the food! Well, its savory, sweet, fresh and delicious. I cant explain each dish because the two times we went we ordered two entrees each and finished every bite. Its that good. Go, explore and try this amazing place. It may just be my favorite restaurant in the whole world. Im excited that I get to take a menu home to frame and some beans home to brew.
Absolutely the best coffee ever, no doubt... Oh and the food, so tasty.
