Best service Ive ever received. I hadnt laughed that much in the entirety of 2020! The owners are completely hands on. You can see the chef working passionately in the kitchen and the aromas that waft through the space make you ravenous from the moment you enter. I often think about the meal I received. The gnocchi was simply delicious. The coffee sublime. A perfect night out at an unsung gem of a restaurant. I cant wait to go back!

THE most delicious food and amazing atmosphere!

We had a big table for my brothers birthday and I must say we where not dissapointed. One advantage of the big table was that we could taste a lot more.The Menu is not big but damn it is good. I started with the Chefs choice filled Pasta, but tasted everything else and honestly you cannot go wrong.For the main course I tried the Moskous meal of the day which was Gnocchi.....I am not a Foodie but oooo my goodness the Gnocchi is about as close as I have come to discovering the meaning of life.Desert was a very nice Pear Tart and again it was faultless.Along with the great food, we received great service and they played really good music. It is a pricey experience but, it is delicious.The only dissapointment was the lighting for my pictures.

If youre looking to fine dine in a jeans or shorts then this is the place for you. No pretentiousness just well thought out well presented dishes with good wine and genuinely friendly and eager to serve you staff.

This place is hands-down one of the best restaurants in Stellenbosch. It was an absolute treat to eat here - the food was creative, generous and incredibly tasty. The wine selection was perfect - I would highly suggest their Pinotage.The atmosphere of the restaurant alone is enough to make the evening worthwhile, its like eating dinner in a cosy tree house. Additionally, the kitchen is open to the rest of the restaurant so you can watch in awe as your meal is expertly and passionately prepared.I took my family here for dinner while they were visiting from Johannesburg. After their meal, they insisted that this restaurant is first on the list when they are back for another visit - especially since the menu changes regularly, offering a great variety of fantastic food.

You wont find better food or service in South Africa. The food is perfect and the atmosphere is unique to Stellenbosch. Unlike any other place in town. We had most of the February menu and would go back to try the rest. Food portions are exceptionally generous for a fine dining establishment. We left comfortably satisfied. A must visit when in South Africa.

I cant tell you when last I had such a great experience at a restaurant. The two brothers that own the place are both musicians and just seemingly great people overall. Super welcoming and warm. And on top of it all,great food! Really great vibe. Highly recommended

Where do one begin with this place. Awesome food,lekker mense and great tunes from the talented Spoegwolf lead singer. Would recommend to anyone looking for an epic experience, great food (prepared by another Spoegwolf member as Chef, Moskou) and something out of the ordinary. Also the drinks was nice and cheap.

Must surely be one of the best restaurants in South Africa. The family feel, the songs, the FOOD!! - everything is done to perfection. While this won’t be a cheap date, I will personally vouch for it being worth every single cent.

WOW! What an amazing dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food and something different. I cant get over the cosy atmosphere and creative decor. This is an epic place for groups and just spending some quality time with your loved ones. Quick service with a smile😊 I think even Gordon Ramsay would be proud of the food. Take note that you have to set at least 2 hours aside because its so amazing and interesting that you dont want to leave. This has been on my bucket list for quite some time especially because Im a big spoegwolf fan. As our awesome waiter also said its more about the experience than the food, but the food is also amazing👌 and dont get a fright if Danie just randomly starts singing and telling stories or climbs onto a table. The food is AMAZING though a bit on the pricey side.

Great place for a fun rowdy evening, in house wines good value. Danie & Moskou put on a great show, heaps of energy and enthusiasm. A diverse Afro Mediterranean fusion menu with hints of authentic Italian influence, plenty of hearty fresh ingredients, hand made pasta & properly prepared sauces. Parking in the area can be a challenge, come a few minutes early. I recommend check out the artwork on their wine labels, inspirational.

Usually one of our favourite places. BUT the famous owners were not there and we were already disappointed because Drum without Spoegwolf is just another noisy restaurant. And it was extra noisy last night so much so we couldnt hear ourselves. Then three young men came and sat close to us, obviously drunk, loud, cussing and smoking. The swearing was so bad that one of us (a famous winemaker by the way) had to get up and ask them to stop. It had the opposite effect...they insulted him and carried on as per usual, even looked at us and said f you. Manager did nothing. At least the food was nice......pity Drum, I think you lost loyal customers last night. We were so keen to impress our guests...

First timer, and what a welcoming experience. Being born Afrikaans, it felt strangely nostalgic to me - like I was back home and enjoying a home cooked meal, only this time being acoustically serenaded and legally drinking a glass of pinotage. The food was impeccable (even though wont quite fill you to the brim) and presented beautifully - like no other restaurant Ive seen before. So much effort and love gone into what I believe to be a success of a small family with a big dream (dont visit if youre on a budget, though - this is more of a treat yourself vibe). Thank you so much for a gorgeous experience, and tell our man well be back for our French lessons. Absolutely stunning. Im very impressed. Well done, Drum!

All I will say is that this place has the best food in the world. The owner and the chef are the sweetest people you will ever meet and if you are lucky the one might grab his guitar and give a live performance.

Fantastically unique fine dining experience. Our host was great, service was with a smile (and with a guitar and song), food was tasty, well presented and maybe even risky (sweet potato cheesecake!). Beautiful view of sunset over Cape Dutch houses with a relaxed atmosphere. Decor is modern and the fireplace adds to the drum set chandelier. I have to mention that when one of our groups food was served a few minutes after the rest we got given a bottle of red wine to apologize. If you dont feel like paying for fine dining call ahead (you should book anyways) and ask about their specials which include gnocci and burgers under R100. I am not sure how long this will go on but we got complimentary glasses of wine and bottomless wine for R40 for the rest of the night!

We ate here two nights in a row. We were surprised on the sidewalk by the chef and his musician brother, who were out drumming (pun intended) up business for the restaurant that night. Theyd only been open for two weeks. Based on the little appetizer we tried out on the street, we knew we *had* to try it. Both my mother (71 years old) and I feel these were the best two meals we might have ever had in our lives. My 7 year old absolutely *loved* the seared tuna and kimchi, the spicy chicken bunny chow, and the pepper-crusted, beet-sauce steak. Not to mention the absolutely amazing desserts. I have a feeling that the chef is going to be famous someday. Go now and get in on the beginning of what is going to be an amazing career.....You can say you ate in his restaurant back in the day. (Also, the location is very fun. It has the feeling of the treehouse. And the wine....amazing....) I couldnt recommend this place more. I wish I lived in town, Id eat here all the time. And my kid would too. He begged to go back. Fine, gourmet food that a 7 year old likes to eat? This restaurant is doing something very right.

Drum Stellenbosch has incredible food and an unbeatable atmosphere. I have never felt more at home than I do sitting in the warmth and light of the Drum family, drinking excellent wine and savouring Chef Moskou’s mouth-watering cuisine. I would suggest the Butter Chicken Bunny Chow - one of Moskou’s all time favourites - the absence of which I wouldn’t wish on the worst of my enemies.
