I love Trumps, I’ve been here about 4 times and everything I’ve had, I was satisfied with. Their fries are amazing, crispy on the outside and just yummy on the inside. Fresh meat, made to one’s liking. Drinks are non-alcoholic friendly. Service is attentive and polite. The atmosphere is great, relaxing. Great grill-house

Called to reserve a table with a couch in a quiet part of restaurant.Arrived to be told that there was no reservation. Luckily a suitable table became free within a few minutes.They brought us the menu, which we were told would double as a placemat. An example of nice from far, but far from niceThe placemat looked nice till u actually pick it up. It has long since passed its days of function, as can be seen in the photos.Next they bring some complimentary bread for the table.. the knife is very poor quality and bent at the tip, see the attached photo.We place an order for kids ribs... fair portion, good taste, pricey, but acceptable.Livers for starters... Good portion, fair price, good taste.Fillet steak, with mushroom sauce.. fair price, fair portion, well cooked.Rib eye. Good portion, bit pricey, poorly cooked, sent back to kitchen twice.Had no time for dessert, do cannot comment on that.Overall, fair pricing, nice ambience, but lacks attention to detail. Not exactly upmarlet as they advertise.2 adults and 1 child ate filling meals, with non alcoholic beverages, total of 790, standard 10% tip was given .

Meat lovers paradise. Great steaks, awesome burgers and amazing ribs. You are spoilt for choice, and whatever you order you wont be disappointed. Great selection of drinks too, and the vibe is correct.

Nice restaurant, perfect for a weekday or weekend lunch. Has a relaxed atmosphere, but can be quite noisy if you arrive during peak times. The staff was very friendly and attentive and complied to Covid 19 regulations. The menu is very accommodating to almost everyone, even the pickier eaters. Id recommend any of the combo meals if youre indecisive like me. Portions were quite generous, so you also get your moneys worth. Food presentation was very photo friendly. If Im nitpicking, the only disappointments were that most of the cocktails advertised on the menu werent actually available to order and we werent offered wipes or hot towels to wash our hands prior to our meals. Overall great experience, would recommend.

They have very nice grills, specially the ribs. Very affordable food and drinks includibg alchohol. For people who drink I recomend to try their amarula milkshake.

Meat and more meat and generous portions. Thats what Trumps is about. We had lamb and ostrich, the meat was tender but not very well seasoned. The side sauces can be used to complement your meat though.The staff is attentive and very professional.

Went out to celebrate a special occassion..ended up having supper at trumps..due to covid had to make a pre-booking..Upon arrival we didnt wait too long..service was good..food was excellent..just dont sit close to the door that leads to the outside court..as people enter and exit the door..on a cold night it can be pretty cold..The overall experience was great..What was also nice is that you have a beautiful view of the square as u enter the restuarant.Place a beautifully lit up. It was good to see the huge Nelson Mandela bronze statue..which again reminded me why I love our country..with all its diversity and struggles..In summer u get to sit outside and can enjoy the views and all that Sandton has to offer...shopping, site seeing and really awesome architecture.A definite must visit😘

The restaurant is located in nelson Mandela square , specialized in meat menu , variety of amazing meal you can get but you wanna try their best , Ribs and shank , i tried lamb shank , beef ribs , burger , chicken buffalo wings and fresh juice ,,the service is great in open area

The place is nice and cosy. The food is terrible, I ordered seafood pasta, they literally served me sauce with a dash of pasta. Not to mention that the sauce was just terrible, I didn’t even eat it. Had a cocktail, it was just ordinary, not bad but not delicious. My friend ordered chips and chicken, the chicken was just ok, nothing special. The chips were really nice.

Great food.I judge a place by its chips and Trumps fries were as crispy and well-seasoned as I like them. They are NOT stingy with their portions.I even got a nice complimentary slice of red velvet cake & ice-cream for my birthday and the waiter sang to me. What a treat!Definite value-for-money 👌

One of the best steaks I have eaten. This place gets a 5 star rating from me just for the steak alone. The place is situated in Nelson Mandela square. Very upmarket and has a nice variety of drinks to choose from. The waiter who attended to us was a very friendly gentleman which makes the place even better. There are no words to describe how good the food was so I would say please try it out. Final word, I highly recommend and is an absolute must visit for tourists and locals.... Easy 5 Star

Trump Grill House and Butchery has an ambiance of a classic traditional grill house.Pros:- They have a set menu which goes for R300 where you can have a selection of a starter, main and desert. Perfect if you are on a budget.- I was served by Sipho who frequentlt checked on us, he was engaging and suggested solid reccomendations which I enjoyed like the Garlic Lemon Calamari.- The ribs and wings combo are well seasoned and the portions are generous.- Limited desert options but definately try their trio of icecream, which left me wanting for more.Cons:- We had a hickup with our reservations but it was swifty resolved by the manager. Making a reservation is very important because this place is popular very busy. Have a meal there and youll see why.

It was my wifes birthday yesterday and we were looking forward to a really fabulous night. Unfortunately this was not to be.Starters were very good.My main course which was a medium sirloin steak was fibrous and chewy. I asked for it to be replaced with a medium rare steak (I dont like my steak medium rare but I did not want to risk another medium steak. If you say the steak is Karan beef and 21 day matured then I am not sure how the chef got it wrong. We know the Karan beef brand well and we often do them at home, medium over open flame, and they are tender and flavourful).My wifes lamb shank was a wee bit on the dry side.There was also kids at a booth near us who were bringing the roof down with adults egging them on. Management at Trumps did nothing to call that table to order.Our waitress Tracy was good and got her full tip.Overall not a great dining experience and dont feel we got bang for our buck.

I love this place because its consistently great. The waiter staff work really hard running arouns but you dont get punished with their frustrations. The food was perfect, the ribs are always done well here. The mojito was a tad too sweet but overall Id spend money here anyday.

Ordered a fillet steak, it was incredible - the taste was really good - the service is good and they have like a small shop right next to the restaurant were you could buy some pepper/sauces/meat etc... try the springbok carpaccio, its a must.

Best place to take your Date. Excellent meat options on the menu and pricing seems fair. High quality ingredients and lovely vibe too. Johannes was our server and he informed us of the great options we should consider on the menu and was always available when we needed! Brilliantly done.

Went to Trumps Grill few days back. The place was great. Customer service was impeccable, we called our waiter numerous times unintentionally and he never complained. Very friendly. The food was superb and great portions have to admit, great value for money. Will be returning soon.

The meat here is like no other place Ive tasted. I travel the world each day as my job and i can honestly say that the meat from here is like no other place in the world. Whenever I come here I always buy 3kg of beef to take with me. The prices are cheap, the staff are fantastic and the food is great and there is ample selection for all including non meat lovers although limited. My trips always include this restaurant to have dinner and restock bbq meats. The butcher gives you the best cuts of meat and cut to the sizes you want ans then vacuum seal to keep it fresh. I cant wait for things to go back to normal so I can visit again.

Superbly friendly staff, and a super sizable portion of meat here. Come here on an empty stomach. While I had the rump, I find that their beef/lamb/pork rack combo is more value for money. Great and conducive place to meet up with friends, or just for a romantic date at night.

Top of the range meat quality. The steak is fork licking good. This is what i call a steak house. The food was quick and service from Vuyo was superb. I visited the wine collection as well, wow👌. The manager at wine section gave me the best wine tasting service and he is rich with history of his collection.I would recommend a late night dinner date or a link up with friends over some goood tasting one and the best steak house in the city.The short great history on your table is remarkably depicted by the taste of their food.

We went in a group of 10+ people. they gave us a corner with plenty of space and privacy. all the food was great, steak was cooked to our liking. they offered us free dessert, we were so full but it tastes so good! sincerely appreciated their hospitality, we had a wonderful evening there.

I really had a great time and it was my sister in-laws birthday. I will definitely come back, oh gosh the steak is awesome, I actually love the bottled chilli with peppers I love everything. The lady who served us did a great job and she was looking presentable, was very friendly and the cocktails were amazing. If I go on I will end up writing a book hahaha great job guys.

A must try in Trumps is their ostrich meat. Its tender and goes really well with sweet chili you can choose your sauce to go along with your meat but sweet chili was a good choice. Another must try is their Kamarula shots and Kamarula milkshake.

At first I wasn’t thrilled about the name of the restaurant but decided to give it a try. I’m glad i did!!The hosts and waiters were wonderful and the food was simply delicious. I also liked the ambiance as we sat looking at Mandela square enjoying the view and the weather. It was really a wonderful experience

What live about the place is the wine cellar with excellent wine with the delightful Pride to guide you through their wine collection. Then their steaks are amazing and in such generous portions. The rib eye with the truffle butter and infused mushrooms served with fries or creamy spinach; the vegetarian burger was also tasty as was the salmon with miso sauce. The service is good.

Celebrated a birthday lunch here. I had the waiters reccomendatuon which was the oxtail which was cooked to perfection. I will definitely give this place 5 stars for fine dining and excellent service.

Food is good, I mean the pork rib and prawns.Prawn curry was just so so; rice was hard, didn’t really like it.But the wine is always good!Wanted to give 5 star to the pork rib and wine, and 1 Star for the staff, when I asked for the bill from 2 staff, and didn’t get anything for 15 mins, and eventually I had to approach to some one to pay, because I was in rush! They wasted 15 mins of my time, when I was super in rush. Maybe the whole place has only 1 person who’s qualified to settle the bill?!!!!!! Ridiculous!

This place was amazing. The food was delicious. Huge portions and so reasonably priced. We had steak, bacon cheese burger, onion rings, pina colada and soda. $39 a couple. Highly recommend it.

22.02.2018 Friends and I wanted a light dinner before movies, and even though it was packed a table had just become available so it was perfect timing.I know Ive been here before but cant remember what I had.We all decided on starters as it was the easier choices due to time constraints. I ordered the Sticky Short ribs and the Fillet Skewer. My friends had the Cheesy Garlic Snails, Soup of the Day, Mussels and more Ribs.My fillet was juicy and tender. My ribs although cold, were really tasty and the meat was fall of the bone tender. Our food arrived in good time so we had enough time to enjoy the meal before rushing off.Need to come back and explore this menu some more. Our waiter Steven was extremely helpful with great service.

Cozy steak joint in a busy Nelson Mendela Square. Food was better than i expected given its in rather touristy place. Steak and porkchop were cooked perfectly. Roquefort salad was also very good. Extensive menu on both food and wine. Ambience was cozy with both table and booth. Its a large restaurant and could host couple of big group quite easily. Service was good. With quality and portion i got, i found price to be very reasonable.

In terms of steakhouses within Nelson Mandela Square I found this to be the better option of the two. (having tried both about a week apart and ordering similar items)It had a more modern feel and the quality of food and sides were of a higher quality and presented quite well.The staff were busy and attentive when they could get to you.The wine and drinks menu was extensive and focused on the S.African wines.Meat and Seafood options were fairly good.My meal was1 x Beer, 1 x Wine (more premium), 1 x Ribs + Lamb Chops, 1 x Greek Salad and an ice cream to finish.Including tip 600 ZAR which I felt was quite reasonable.Great for a group of 4 - 8 people,The bottle shop has a nice selection.The butchery has been presented well, but does not have the largest range. (their focus seems to be on presentation and quality)Worth a visit if you are in the area.

I asked for medium raw but it was almost well done. The sirloin tasted plain with not much flavour. Otherwise the service was quite ok and its a big restaurant.

My rating is not based on Trumps as a brand, but the lady who served us. The food was good, but there is nothing as disappointing as bad service. The couple who arrived after us had a great guy serving them. Received their breads, finished eating before she brought anything to ours. 10 minutes later she picked up a basket of uneaten bread from some guys a couple of tables away, looked straight at us and went to the kitchen. Then immediately came straight to our table with a fresh basket of bread. As I write this review. Im actually angry. I cant sleep and Im self medicating every time I think of that bread I get weary of Covid symptoms. 💔Not once did she come to check up on us. By the time our food arrived, my drink was already finished. I asked for another one. She never brought it. By the time she came back to our table. We were done eating and ready to pay the bill. No apology. Nothing. We had already been sitting there for a while. A man who I assume is the manager came to check up on us probably 3 times, while she was nowhere to be seen. thats how I managed to get my second drink. If that is who we were leaving our tip to, I would have been happy leaving more than just 10%

The place is great, their chips good and the meat is great quality. I would recommend it to those with the financial means to dine there to do so.
