I think it is time for a new management team. The secret to success is to retain your clients. I am not going back. I mean look at this salmon sashimi. The prawn looked much worse, wish I took a snap of that.Avoid this place until they are willing to improve the taste of their food in order to retain clients.18 August 2021In response to your request: Today, my wife and I are both experiencing severe diarrhea. Take a look at the photo that I have attached - the salmon has gone off. So was the prawn and other fish as well.I hope you can treat your clients better in the future and serve fresh food. In addition, no we do not follow any restaurant journeys, we just expect quality products and service. You have one job. Do it.

We have waited so long for our order, even though there were 3 sushi chefs working at the sushi bar. While we were waiting for our order, there was another guy who has pitched up and got his massive sushi order first (after ordering at the till). Fine, we were patient. However, the worst was yet to come. The owner, along with 3 other Chinese people were all drinking beers and being loud, all while one of the women working behind the bar went over the guys order to check everything. SHE TOUCHED AND PICKED UP HIS SUSHI PIECES WITH HER HANDS WHILE HE WASNT LOOKING!!! Thats when we started watching the staff like a hawk! Before we received our food, one of the Chinese guys started shouting at an African sushi chef, signaling that he must get out from the sushi bar and leave, telling him to F$#% off. The chef tried to reason with the guy, but kept being shouted at and told to f-off, f-off. It was horrifying to say the least! Finally, we have received our order, and when we simply asked for more soy sauce and checking if our order was correct, the other staff members started to get rude.... We got home, and were so hungry we dove right in! The pictures as shown is what was received. The soya sauce tasted very sweet (not salty like its supposed to). The sushi was poorly made and the rice was very dense (like pap almost)... Rainbow rolls only had salmon on top, not inside. California rolls were extremely tiny. Maki rolls were skew and poorly made. Sashimi wasnt evenly sliced.. And we spent A LOT on this food.. I was so embarrassed as I wanted to show my sister our local sushi spot (we used to be Tataki regulars here, even after the name and owners have changed). Being patient with a new transition of ownership is no excuse! This change of ownership has happened nearly a year ago! I know I will get your generic copy and paste reply which you leave for everyone who leaves a bad review on Google, because that is the type of business youre running. We simply wanted great, affordable sushi during a level 4 lockdown, because we couldve done with some getting out and cheering up, and SUPPORT LOCAL EATERIES. I rarely leave bad reviews, but felt that it was necessary to warn others against this place. Rather go to Tataki in Moreleta Park.

Delicious foods. Keep it up

While the food is value for money and the person who made the sushi was competent, the rest of the staff were loud. Two employees were having an argument in the restaurant, with table banging and loud voices, which was totally off-putting. I could not wait to leave. So sad that there is no supervision and training. And to top it off, I had to listen to the staff s music which was not suited to customers.

Since new managament the sushi is not as great as it used to be, the new owner constantly look at you as if you would steal something. The sushi only consits of rice, and the the owner will bring new things to you and put it down next to you even if you say no, these new thing only consist rice and cheese. No more the value for money that we used to get.

The sushi was lovely, also competitively priced. The service was a bit slow, but in their defense it was a really busy evening.You can order sushi off the menu, which is always great. Will definitely visit again when I find myself in Pretoria.

If youre looking for quality and affordability, this is the place. The sushi buffet is the best value for money this side of town in my experience. Double your value with other items on the menu with the weekday specials. Almost always quiet on weekday evenings, hence one of my top go-to restaurants in the week.

What a horrible experience1. It took about 20-30min for someone to bring us a menu and take our drink order. And it was really not that busy2. It took about another 30min before someone took our food order - i had to ask repeatedly and even offered to write down our order myself if it will be faster3. We were a party of 5 that wanted to do the buffet. There was BARELY anything on the buffet, that is besides the dirty plate making its rounds4. It took about 2 hours for us to get some kind of food order and it was definitely not what we had ordered.5. When i asked to place another order i was advised that they were running low on rice and could not take any additional orders. In the end, we received about a quarter of what we ordered and had to pay for a buffet meal for 5 people.I asked the waitress why she had not advised us when we arrived that they did not have enough stock for us to take the buffet option, she merely looked at me and did not respond.We were most definitely not the only table that had complaints... of the 5 tables all 5 either complained or were openly annoyed with the situation.I will surely not take my business there again.

One of the waiters sitting behind the counter clipping away at her nails. And cleaning them. Also they take the old food of the conveyer belt to make up your take away order instead of making it fresh. Place is loaded with flies. Not a pleasant experience.

They are untidy, their waitrons behave as if it their first time on the job. I doubt I will go back there

So disappointed. I ordered my sushi platter on Uber eats. It came without Wasabi and ginger. I tried it without and did not enjoy it at all. Under one of my sushi pieces there is a hair!!

I AM DISAPPOINTED! Your sushi belt is dirty.No one gave us hand sanitizer at the door??Your waiter is absolutely nowhere.She does not have any training as a waiter. She basically stood ontop off me , I had to ask her to practice social distancing and she wasnt wearing her mask correctly. What is this?She barely spoke. She tried. But for a Saturday evening with only us and a nother couple. The service should be 100%.Manager should stop sitting in his car outside and be inside his shop and see what is going on??? You guys are loosing money?That place should be packed on a Saturday evening.Your sushi chef was great! He is quick and he knows what to do. The rice just needs to be a tad more sticky!!But no I am just disappointed.

Absolutely horrible experience. Since the new owner and name change, the standard went down the drain. Waited a hour for the wrong order. Waitress was clueless. The restaurant isnt seeing me again. Take your money somewhere else...

This is no longer a Tataki so the menu has changed significantly. I have both ordered and dined in and both times I wasnt happy. While, I didnt have sushi, the other food was terribly made, way too salty and boiled. The service was also bad, I wasnt even given utensils for my sit down meal, I had to ask and then they forgot a whole meal. Honestly, will not go there again.

This place is abolsutely unprepared. Allowed us all suhsi buffet and ran out of rice without completing our order. Insisted we pay buffet price. Waited 2 hours and instead of being given our order were given the order of other disgruntled patrons who decided to leave due to their own frustrations. The waiter on duty couldnt give a dam and she admitted to it. This is a hard no. Other places have been way better equipped.

I did not like the Cross & Blackwell mayonnaise. I prefer kewpee mayo.

Excellent experience. We had sushi and a beef dish. Both were excellent. Fresh and well prepared. Staff are really friendly.What surprised be was receiving double my sushi order as theyre running a sushi special on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings: buy-one-get-one-free. We took the extra portion home and it was still perfect meal the next day. Very affordable. Theyll definitely see a lot of me!

Good food and verry quick.

Ordered a duck wrap and some sweet and sour pork. The food was absolutely disgusting. I can safely say that this was, by far, the worst food I have ever gotten from any restaurant. The duck was inedibly dry and was like chewing cardboard and there were literally only 2 pieces of duck in the entire wrap. The sweet and sour pork tasted about 3 months old and seemed like it had been microwaved for an eternity. Seriously SERIOUSLY gross, and the prices arent cheap either. What an absolute disappointment. This restaurant will never see my business again.

This place is awesome, this was our 3 time visiting tataki for their all you can eat sushi... They are very friendly and allows you to make selections from the menu and get it delivered straight to your table... This is also a good place for first time sushi explorers because if you dont know what to order you can sit at the sushi bar and grab any of the plates that look interesting... Awesome service, good food, friendly staff and all that for the same price a sushi platter would cost you... Excellent value for money... Hint: go hungry to obtain best results

Went for the buffet. There was not much choice and found a hair on a nigiri.

Really enjoyed the restaurant. Expected a not so stylish Chinese restaurant but was pleasantly surprised as the restaurant was very decent with lovely decor. The all you can eat sushi was amazing and you definitely get your value for money (if you can eat a lot). The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. Lovely atmosphere.

Their sushi is fairly good and they have a good variety at very standard prices. The meat:rice ratio is a bit off though as they bulk up the portions with rice. This gives them 2 stars. However, their Thai dishes are excellent and very affordable. I was in Thailand recently so I know. This earns them 3 stars which means the place is worth a visit.

I went here for the sushi buffet, for lunch. It was great, they even offered cooked variants of sushi and everything was delicious. It was a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely visit again. Although some of the food was a littler extra salty for my liking. Hence the three stars.

This was one of the best Sushi Buffet experiences weve had thus far. Friendly staff. Very professional. And the food was Amazing. This is my new favourite sushi restuarant.

I would not recommend going here. We arrived at 8pm and the waitress told us she’ll “fight” with us if we stay past 9pm (although they close at 9:30pm). The sushi was OK but the Chicken chow faan was severely undercooked. The waitress tried to charge us extra for sweet and sour sauce (not stated in the menu). We rushed through our meal and when we wanted to pay, they would only accept cash as they didn’t feel like getting the card machine out of the cupboard. Be warned, don’t arrive an hour and a half before closing as you’ll be met with hostility.

Great sushi, food is fresh great selection for all you can eat, other food on menu is of great quality. My father doesnt eat sushi and is particularly picky when it comes to food. He ordered the grilled prawns and we were blown away by the quality for price of the food he got served.

We live up the road and often get take away sushi, it’s always really good and fresh. Tonight we chose to order some of their other dishes on offer and we loved it - absolutely DELICIOUS!! Try their chicken pad Thai and crispy duck.

Great sushi restaurant.We got tired of Yamakado Sushi as the quality went down quite a lot and the prices increased.So we ended up at Tataki. Yes its a bit out of the way but its well worth it.The restaurant is clean and feels a lot more relaxing than the mall restaurants.Service was better too but in the end its all about the food and Tataki delivers in spades. The sushi was fresh and some really unique tastes we have not had before. To top it off the prices are also much better than in the malls.All in all a great little place well worth the short drive out.

A great atmosphere. I love the Sushi buffet. R165 pp (2018 price) and you get free reign of specific color plates and all starters. Go with a empty stomach to make the best of it. Buffet available every day.

Truly excellent food with plenty vegan / vegetarian options. Be aware to check your takeaways though - more often than not, things like sauces or cashew nuts are forgotten, which is annoying. Quiet setting. When ordering g takeaways in person, they give preference to the phone though, which is extremely frustrating. They should have a separate person manning the phone. I felt that if I went to the effort of getting in my car and driving there to order, I should get first priority, not have my ordering process interrupted by 3 phone calls

This restaurant has excellent service and good food. They have the best crispy chicken and rice that I have ever tasted! They also have an all you can eat sushi buffet twice everyday, with a wide variety to choose from. I would definitely recommend them!

Great value for money, the service is excellent and the meals are inexpensive. For only R145 you can have all you can eat sushi and the starter and dessert is included.Feel free to try this amazing place any time!

Sadly 1 start is the bottom line.The sushi buffet is a rice buffet with fish slither seasoning.The added sweet sauces to sushi - is questionable.Salmon roses are Rice roses with a thin layer of salmon wrapped around.Not a toasted sesame seed in sight.The rice so thick you need to scrape 2 layers off to have something resembling sushi.You will regret the fact that you cant eat R155 worth of rice then puke it up when you get home.Do not bother. Not even the spring rolls provide salvation. It is rubbish. Weekday and weekend. Gave them a 2nd chance but it is as disappointing as the first time around.Love a buffet but this was torture. The serve is excellent but for the rest of it from food to toilets it needs deep prayer, salvation and Japanese government intervention for the brutal use of the word sushi.

So cheap with wonderful specials and the freshest sushi and oriental cuisine! Best waiters with restroom in restaurant so you dont need to go to the malls. Chinese beer and a sushi go round belt. Fantastic!!!

Absolutely great Sushi experience.. With an eat as much as you like buffet style sushi bar. Sushi is made right in front of you which is kinda cool to see how the art is done. Great and friendly staff with quick service. Try out a variety of different sushi, vegan sushi, deepfried and the sushi we all love. Try a variety of drinks from Saki to home brewef beers. Would definitely recommend to go and experience dinner a little bit different.

Sushi buffet was good. Some of the items were not available and service not great but was still worth it. I have had better but also had much worse. Will I go back? Only if I am in the area

The site has a revolving sushi dining table, with various combo deals. The raw fish (Sushi) products are freshly prepared. Cooked meals may take a bit of time to prepare, especially for large orders.

Great food but inconsistent service ranging from poor to great

Ordered sweet and sour Chicken.....got dry rice and chicken balls....sweet and sour no where to be found. When phoning they insisted there was sauce...not a happy customer!

Me and my girlfriend made this our monthly dinner sushi dinner, because the sushi is amazing, the service is amazing, the waiters is always there to help, the prices is more than affordable and just the all out experience is just amazing, i can not wait for our next sushi date, we just love it here so much!

Were definitely stuffed, we had our sushi fill but...a small selection of sushi, too much rice & the salmon is used in a lot of moderation, parcels are see-through (can see rice through salmon), also any deep fried sushi - no they pre make the fried prawn etc which leads it to being very chewy...
