Pleasant atmosphere out in the garden. Umbrellas protected us from light drizzle. Food was tasty but portions on the small side for the price. I think the menu was a bit limited and could feature more Portuguese dishes, but there was enough to choose from. Nevertheless very enjoyable. Will go back.

This has to be my favourite restaurant.Taras Bulba is an amazing, breathtaking restaurant with extremely good and patient waiters. The food is beyond the words tasty and delicious. The atmosphere is also really amazing and having the restaurant in a garden was a brilliant idea.Be sure to try it out...you wont regret it.

I liked the ambiance. Cozy in the house and on the varanda outside. Also tables in the garden. Security on the busy street is good.Their menu basic and the food good. Friendly service. Specially if you stay nearby, give it a try.I will definitely go back since there are very few restaurants with outside seatings.

Ive had a most enjoyable evening with my wife at Taras Bulba.A simple Portuguese salad with a simple Portuguese steak. Great wine.A very simple non-pretentious but very enjoyable place.

Very nice steak and prawns restaurant in Brooklyn. Old house with nice seating in the garden. Nice and relaxed. Good for the family, or maybe dinner for two. They wont break the bank either.

We had a group event here - the wait staff and management were so accommodating and helpful! The food is tasty as well. I look forward to going back.

Portuguese steakhouse in the leafy suburb of Brooklyn. An old house on a large stand with a nice garden and some big trees has been converted to a restaurant. Ill recommend a table outside under the trees. The food was very flavorsome although the espetada was a bit chewy. Reasonably priced and we had good service. Great place to check out

The quality is top notch, the preparation is top notch, they have an open kitchen (you can view them) which in itself says a lot! They have been in business for +-40 years and it shows why. Treat yourself, treat your loved ones, treat your taste buds. Truly, one of Pretorias gemstones. Wish there was 6 stars!

Nice casual atmosphere in garden , our party had both red meat and fish dishes and all were delicious , very friendly service

This restaurant is packed most nights. There is an outside sitting area between tall trees, which is beautiful. The smoking area is restricted to the corner of the property but is unfortunately not enforced. So the beautiful outside area really becomes a smoking area. The service is attentive and quick. Parking is outside on the street, but guarded. The food is well priced but slightly bland.

Probably the first Portuguese restaurant I ever frequented. Changed location in later years. Always used to be in Hamilton str. Now moved into leavy suburbs, good move.Same menu with great cuisine and service. One of the better steak and prawn houses in Pretoria. Well worth a visit.

Cosy and Loved the outside area, good steak here

Ive actually visited twice now and both occasions were very positive! The setting in a converted house with a pretty, established garden is most conducive to really relaxing and enjoying company over a good meal. On my first occasion I enjoyed the best and freshest calamari I have had for a long time, and the second occasion was for lunch on Mothers Day when I thoroughly enjoyed the tender and flavoursome t-bone steak. The granadilla dessert is also worth while!

We where greeted by friendly staff and where seated outside under big trees which made a good impression.The food served was nothing out of the ordinary. A question mark can be raised for Portugese cuisene.They forgot some of our orders and they appologised promptly for the inconvenience.We had to wait a long time for our coffee, as aperantly the capoccino machine has broken down.For what you get is the pricing quit stiff, but the food is tasty.It is a family orientated restaurant and it can be visited.

Brilliant restaurant for family lunches in their awesome garden and even for romantic dinners. Proper king size prawns deliciously prepared and a great spicy peri peri sauce for dipping them in. Decent size soles that simply melt in your mouth. My personal favourite is the perfectly prepared peri peri baby chickens, not too hot but spicy. Theresa, the chef makes every dish with Portuguese enthusiasm. One of our favourite restaurants

Attempted Sunday lunch. Pissy attitude of the lady maitre receptionist ‘you don’t have a booking’. But we were given a table.and allowed to wait for a menu. It eventually arrived. Waited again. Then we left and went to “23 on Hazelwood” where you get service

Lacl of quality service. Waited two hours from order being placed to being served. The place has potential but it needs a seroius change of management and how they disregatd customers time. Will defintly not eat yhere again. There is a better portugese eatery in St Bernard where you can get value for money.
