Our food was amazing. The meat was well-cooked.We had a kebab platter and croissants. Theres a variety of croissants which were all amazing.The service was fantastic. Our waiter was very helpful. Absolutely terrible. We ordered toasted cheese and when the food arrived, it was only thick bread with very tiny spread of cheese. Could not taste the cheese. We ended up putting butter on our bread. Never going back there.

Looking for good coffee, light snack (or full on meal), Doppio Zero is ideal.Recently opened (Q4 2020), ideally located for us from Irene/Pierre ban Ryneveld, we opted to do lunch there.Clean, C19 in full swing, tables sanitised before sitting down, attentive staff, friendly and attended to my requests. Drinks arrived, Espresso with a shot of hot water on the side. Lovely coffee, but cold. Asked for another, requested that the Barista/Coffee Maker heat up the cup first (thick sidewalls) before adding the Espresso. This was duly done, my day was made. Suggest the floor manager ensure that it is done routinely going forward. Great eye catching crockery, but the thick walls of the cup soak up the heat fast.Lunch was light, well presented and tasty.Will gladly return again.On exiting the Castle Gate Centre, noticed parking for both the infirm and mothers/families using prams. Ever tried squeezing a pram between two cars, seating the infant, closing the door, pushing the pram in reverse into a busy parking area before turning it around so that you can proceed? Well done Castle Gate and Doppio Zero.

The staff are very friendly, our waiter went our of her way to accommodate us and ensure we were satisfied. The coffee is good and the food is fresh. The prices are about as competitive as can be expected. The menu offers a wide variety of mostly Italian cuisine with usual south african flair.

Serving vegetables for breakfast is not my cup of tea. I had a hamburger in stead which was good and the service was also good

What a disappointment to what we are used to at South Downs… after a few bad experiences here in a row on small basics, i will be very hesitant to return, given all the great alternatives in the area. Sure hope management get their ducks in row, before its too late.

Everything was good until we got to the tea... The tea was virtually hot water with a dash of milk in.1 bag covers 1 cup. If your pot is bigger than that, only fill 1 cup or add a bag. But, their pots took 3 cups. A pot taking 3 cups can not have only 1 teabag. Either use less water or add a tea bag. The tea was coloured water, even after ordering another pot and trying to add the 2 bags to 1 pot. The point is.. They shouldve known this. I understand if they want to save on costs (ie. tea bags), but as I said then only fill 1 cup of water.My breakfast (croque bagel) was good. The omelette didnt look that great.

Lighting is good. Food tasted good, though service was okay, just a little tip... Be prepared for waiters to shout out so loud that your ears go deaf... when asking for options... Patrons are not stupid just hungry.

Great atmosphere. Friendly efficient staff. Orderly flow of activities from seating to eating and beyond. Visible managerial control, probably makes the difference. Easy access from the main road, Spot is still new, we will certainly be back.

Ill gave a 3 star only for the service. It was grood, but the food especially the steak, chip and marrow bone were absolutely terrible. On the menu it says marinated. But we couldnt even cut the steak. Definitely not going back.

Prepare to wait for +- 45 minutes for a simple breakfast. When you do inquire about why the food is taking long, expect to be dismissed and told to exercise patience (LOL). After all of this, the food was super bland and not up to Doppio standards (if you frequent the franchise a lot - they make good food). Never going back to this one again. Horrible service. Average food.

The food and restaurant is amazing. However, the cleanliness of utensils and cutlery are not up to standard.Also, my breakfast order was served with uncooked sausages.Sadly, Ive been disappointed every time I have visited this branch at Castle Gate.

Great coffee shop

The Doppio Zero at castle gates location is the best thing about this place if youre a parent or with kids! It is near the childrens play area, on the side without a barrier, therefore easily & independently accessible by the kids- its easy to enjoy your food while keeping an eye on your little one. This is particularly important for me as having to stand at play areas in restaurants can diminish the quality of my restaurant experience.The food is up to the usual standards of other Doppios & they have a wide variety of cakes/treats. The service was average, my waiter forgot my after meal coffee & I had to remind him but he was so good-natured & pleasant I was not angry.

Unfortunately, they are not yet licensed.The service was at the Doppio Standard, always good. The pizza putanesca was a 10. Superb. In every measure. Would have thought you were in Naples. The Poke bowl not so much. Luke warm, tasteless with half ripe avocado and 2 day old black rice. The Warm greens salad was tasty and perfectly done. The spinach however was still a bit sandy.

Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Would definitely recommend the lasagne. The waiter was kind of rude and we waited very long for our orders tp be taken, food to arrive and bill to arrive. So, the service could have been a bit better but I will still return. The parking at the castle gate centre is also secure.

Doppio is very well located with lovely seating outside and inside. We had breakfast here today. We had the Doppio breakfast and Chicken livers which was not great, it lacked flavor. BUT the other breakfasts looked interesting. We had lunch here the other day and that was beyond amazing!!! We will definately keep on trying. The waiters are really friendly and are trying their best to give good service, and with some training on the menue etc they would be great. Cant wait for our next visit.

Great cuppacinos with double shot expresso. Good and tasty food. Could only order from the breakfast menu until 11h30. I dont eat eggs or bread, so there were no options for me... We were not even allowed to get access to the lunch menu at 11h08 to possibly order from there for after 11h30 - waiters orders..My hubby had a fried haloumi and veg and egg dish. I had a bite from his dish which was really tasty and well prepared. We will try it again some time with full menu available...

Love Doppio, sad that there was no baby changing station and I had to change my babys diaper on the bathroom floor especially now with covid. This makes it not child friendly for us as a family with toddlers and a baby.

We love Doppio Zero Southdowns but this branch really let their good name down. Service is slow and at times non-existent. No consistency with waiters - 3 or 4 different waiters served us. Food & hot beverages are served lukewarm, which could be excused if it was a cold day but they cannot even fall back on that excuse. The food is poorly presented. This is the second time we have tried them (thinking the first time, which was equally bad, was just a matter of teething problems, re opening the new store). We will not be back.

My Ubereats order was with this restaurant for 25 min before they canceled it. They left it for the last possible minute and then decided to cancel my order. Honestly shows the type of service they would give their customers. We go to this Dopio weekly, I can promise you that this will be the last time I support this franchise. Ill rather drive to South Downs.
