Had lunch at this establishment yesterday, it was very busy and service was extremely slow, I sat for about 20mins without getting any service at all. I really enjoyed the music performance, I think it added a great touch to the ambience and feel of the place.Edit:With all that said I lost my wallet and because Id been to more, than one establishment on that particular day I couldnt recall where Id lost it. I was contacted by the restaurant and recieved my wallet back with every last cent in it. Any establishment with staff of such integrity deserves 5stars because integrity is a rare virtue nowadays

I believe in honesty, give credit where due and point out aspects for improvement.* good ambience.* really nice decor* scrumptious home baked ciabatta> torn seats> waiters wearing dirty clothing (early morning)> plastic butter & jam trays with silver teaware?> my daughter ordered the Cowboy Breakfast - was cold, with raw spinach?> I ordered 3 egg omelette with mushrooms and spinach - cold... and raw spinach...not so tasty - creamed spinach would have been much nicer.Conclusion: Old Town Italy is situated in Menlyn Maine, one of the most upmarket places in Pretoria/Tshwane. One would expect their service/quality to be right up there but unfortunately its not.

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere!The live performance was of a standard that most people would be willing to pay for at theatres.We started with a selection of cheeses that was first class, mains will delight your taste budsDeserts are sensational, but my favourite was the selections of Galato Ice Cream.A refreshing and joyful experience. Old Town Italy is a must visit at any of their locations. We LOVE their venue both here and in Umhlanga. I would definitely recommend the Chicken Livers and the Moussaka but anything on the menu is lip smacking. I’ve included the current chef’s specials.

Im abjectly disappointed in my experience today. I was a staunch supporter of this restaurant but my latest two experiences culminated in the fiasco of today. Ive been there on two different Sundays, the first one was not good, today was terrible. As before there was a Jazz duo playing. Today the volume was doubled and after about 40minutes one of the speakers that were facing inward was turned out to facilitate two inebriated female groupies obviously part of the musicians or wanting to become part.... We deliberately sat outside to avoid the bulk of the music. I called the waitress, firs of to complain about the food which had not arrived and to ask about turning the speaker back inwards. She told my bluntly, they cannot do anything about that, management wont allow that. We were part of another three tables with the same complaint. Then I saw what was delaying the food, the chefs were having a party behind the serving counter, dancing and singing, forgetting about their primary purpose. I eventually received the food and paid for it and took it away. If I can give any advice: 1. Please read your own website write up about Old Town Italy, revert to those values, 2. Warn your customers upon entry that food and service is secondary, jazz party is the main menu item, or just close down service completely. Rename and become a Jazz Bar?

Weve been coming to Old Town Italy for almost a year now and it has never failed to disappoint.The waiters are always friendly and ready to help, they are so seldom understaffed and they are very well versed in the menu.The food is simply amazing and I am yet to have a less-than top quality meal there. The ingredients are always fresh and they cater for a very wide range of dietary requirements including vegetarian, gluten free, banting and vegan options.The restaurant has never been dirty and the toilets are always fresh and stocked up.Definitely, definitely recommend that you give this restaurant a try, Im willing to bet that you will be a satisfied customer.

I made a booking for a family lunch for 15 pax. Firstly tried calling about 5 times on a few occasions before hand to ask for a specific table with no answer. Also emailed the GM a day before the time with no response. The toilets were dirty. Toilet paper holder and toilet seat broken. Food very average. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We wanted to use the TV to watch the rugby and were told it costs R500 to rent. We have been there before and loved the place. Very disappointed.

Very disappointed overall. There was no one at the door to help us. Walked away. Did decide to come back as italian food was the preference. Shouldnt have bothered. Service was poor and very slow despite it not being very busy. Food was lukewarm and least to say average. Quality had definitely gone down since the last time I was there. Rocket on the plate was looking floppy and withered. Waiter got the order wrong. Waiter got the bill wrong. No manager checking in or apologising about the mess up. At least the wine was good, even though the waiter never bothered to pop in and top it up.

I usually never leave reviews, but i felt like it needed to be said. I wanted to taked my mother and brother out for a nice sunday brunch. However, we waited over an hour for our food. When the food eventually arrived to our table, it was ice cold. Food portions was not up to standard either.Took another 15min for them to bring the bill. Really not a good experience, which is sad to say because weve been to old town italy before, but this was by far the worst experience that weve had there.

Good food and atmosphere. I really liked their outdoor section as its quite open and you are fairly well protected from sun. The only downside is the wind, so hold onto your serviettes. The restaurant isnt super loud so its a great place to go to for a relaxed breakfast or lunch.We had some pasta and for an Italian restaurant I was expecting a lot more flavor. I found my dish to be a bit dry. A bit of olive oil did the trick though.The service was a bit disappointed. Our waiter was lovely but on the day it seemed like she was a bit overwhelmed so she forgot a couple of things but she was amazing when we interacted with her.Despite that, I think that the restaurant is worth a visit.

Absolutely terrible, currently sitting here and its Been over an hour we have starters on the table with no side plates or cutlery. Service is absolutely terrible!! My self and 8 others are going to leave after paying for our starters as it was terrible and will not even try the main course... Filled out the form the owner sent me and did not receive any call or any feedback

Wasent great. No one to receive us on arival, waiter service was slow, not all food orderd was braught to our table.We had a selection of starters orderd (7) received (6)The quality of the meals prepared were pore, the Chicken livers were so hot, with a overpowering tabasco taste, could not eat it. Calamarie was good but cold when it reached our table, disapointed. The meatball starter was the best of our selection.It is sad to sea the lack of atention to detail and absence of any management.😞

Absolutely used to love this restaurant. But the service is getting poor even on a not busy day. The restaurant was not full however the manager tried to squeeze 6 adults on the small couches which of course was not viable. Didn’t seem to care and we just made our own plan to pull tables together. Our waiter Rocks seemed kinda overworked and we felt like we were bothering him. Some things on the menu not available. I honestly hope they become the amazing restaurant they once were, I love the food so much but service is what brings customers back.

The food is delicious. The service is absolutely bad. Tonight was the second time weve been at Old Town. The waiter came back 3 times for 1 order. 2 x Cokes and 1 x Water. Asked for a steak knife and brought it halfway through the meal.The first time we waited 1 hour and 9 mins for a chicken liver and Calamari starter. The food arrived cold. We asked to order mains and the waiter said hell be back now. When the started came we asked to order mains and was told the kitchen closed at 20:00. This is after we have waited 40 mins to order mains. The starters was heated up while the garnish, lemon and bread was inside the plate. Came back extremely dry. Definitely recommend the food but suggest improvement on the service.

The food here is really really good. If youre looking for some good Italian meals, this is definitely the place to go to. Plus, the interior design is to die for. However, the service is not that great.

Very busy restaurant, I went on a Friday night of month end maybe thats why.They played really great music and had a live performance which was amazing.The food is great and their cocktails are amazing. Would definitely reccomend this restaurant, after your dinner order also their icecream they taste super delicious and has a variety of flavors.

The only place to go before a show at Times square. Staff are quick when they know you have a show. The food is very tasty and all of us had enjoyed are meal. Been to Old Town several times (before going to Time Square shows) and every time been very happy

Service was poor...the croissants were freshly baked but overdone and so were hard. We pointed this out to the server who just nodded and that was that....not great at all. I gave it two stars only because the cruffins were enjoyed by others in our group. So not all bad but in need of a management input ..

I am obsesed with with Old Town Italy. We probably do half of our shopping there. Love the fresh meat and cheese. And before that we sit down for a great lunch plus fantastic deserts. It is truly a wonderful place.And the food, service and drinks are superb.

Lovely place with the best coffee

Last night we walked into this restaurant to enjoy an early dinner. Signs everywhere stating wait to be seated by hostess. We stood around for awhile and nobody attending to us. I see a waiter or maybe the host leaning against a table watching us at a point near the middle of the restuarant. My partner is on crutches so instead of him having to walk all the way, I gesture to him where. He gestures back at me by pointing to the floor in front of him and carries on standing there. This restaurant obviously does not need new business and I am not wasting my money on rude staff. We decided to walk out and went to Turn and Tender where the door was opened for us and we were welcomed in by friendly staff. Too many restaurants around trying to make a living. When u treated in this manner u tick it off your list and proceed to the next.

Recently remodeled, so a bit smaller. Had a great dinner sitting at the bar. Lasagna was excellent, as was the chicken. Extensive and expensive wine list, as well as by the glass (more affordable). Treat yourself to an ice cream in a cone. afterwards. Lost a star due to initial order being “just sold the last one”.And, finally, the cocktails are excellent and authentic.

All in all a lovely place to go. Nice choice options but restrictive and a little disappointing if you look past the hype. Beautiful layout and the delicatessen is nice but with it, pricey. A new and novel concepts that I feel will run its course soon. Prices are reasonable to high and service is good.Can’t book unfortunately but it’s understandable now days with people not arriving to a booking.Enjoyable but won’t go again.

Old Town Italy has a very authentic feel. It has a very cool vibe and the music is awesome. The staff are also really friendly. I had a very delicious breakfast with really good coffee. A good way to start the morning.

Went to their restaurant for my birthday with my fiancé. The food was amazing and our waiter was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is really relaxed if youre looking for place that you can have cocktails with a friend or go for a date. I will definitely be visiting again.

We looked forward to enjoying the wonderful waffles and other breakfast today that we used to enhoy at OTI. We sat for 17 minutes without service and had to get up to ask for attention. The drinks were ordered and 10 minutes later there still was nothing. So we got up and left. For a high-end restaurant charging the prices you do we expect a lot more in terms of service. We will not be back.

Stumbled across this beautiful restaurant. It takes you away for a brief moment affording you the opportunity to really enjoy yourself. The service was good and friendly and i just couldent stop looking around.Their carrot, pineapple and ginger juise is so good it could possibly take away more than the guilt about what you have just eaten.

I was honestly looking forward to enjoying breakfast at this establishment on Freedom Day but I was so disappointed. We waited for over an hour for our food and when it eventually arrived it was cold and the order was right. Not once did a manager come to our table nor did we see one around. Whilst waiting, I even decided to call the establishments offices hoping that a manager would pick up but none did.

The food is good, but the service is non-existant. No managers to be seen anywhere which shows they are not accountable for anything. Both times I ordered a drink it took 30min to receive it. Pity, its a nice location, but wont be going back.

Beautifully designed Italian Restaurant at Menlyn Maine. Although the interiors are more old Chicago than old Italy.Busy during weekends, it has quite the vibe. Plenty of seating available inside and out. They offer space for small events.Friendly staff and of coarse AMAZING food. All italian. Also have a little market offering Italian delicacies, cured meats, cheeses, bread, gelato and sweet things.Definitely would recommend a brunch or lunch here.

I went for dinner at the Menlyn branch on Monday to celebrate my 21st and was beyond disappointed. To start off I booked a table for 6 to arrive to one set for 5. While we looked for somewhere else to sit the staff were completely unhelpful and didnt try make another plan for us. Then we tried to order various drinks and food to find out that a lot of it was not in stock. Then we went to the bathroom upstairs to find one of the ladys toilets missing a toilet seat. There was zero effort to make my night memorable and I now wish I had spent that money elsewhere. Considering how tough times have been lately for resteraunts, I would think all of them would be grateful for some customers. Definitely will not be returning and wouldnt recommend it to others.

I was here for a young dinner event. I like the decor and feel of this restaurant/deli it does give you that vintage feel. We were being hosted upstairs at a private room. For the night we had had pizza different flavours of it, there was no significant wow factor about the pizzas, they taste like any other pizza one would get at a basic pizza restaurant. The service was good, the waiters were friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a pleasant evening we enjoyed ourselves it was great company, cant really add the food in it but a great evening indeed.

The food is tastes absolutely amazing. However their (drinks) menu is not so user friendly - the drinks are Italian style type of drinks. Do not expect to find anything familiar to drink basically - their cocktails are not your common cocktails too and so is the beer (expect Italian beer like Peroni and the like). In a nutshell, it is the ultimate Italian experience - from the food, drinks and ambience.
