Under Oaks has to be one of the rarest gems in the Western Cape in terms of guesthouses. The accommodation was 5-star - fully kitted with lush, green grass leading up to a beautiful view of the little lake and the Paarl mountains. There is a little Italian restaurant on-site with amazing pizzas and a big open space with a playground for the kids. Do yourself a favour and book in for your next weekend away - you wont be sorry. Will definitely be back.

I refer to a previous comment regarding this venue being pet friendly. I can confirm that at NO TIME were we told that Under Oaks wine tasting was NOT pet friendly. In fact, whilst we were still at Rhebokskloof (which is pet friendly and a phenomenal venue) I called ahead to confirm that we could come through for wine tasting with our dogs.Needless to say, upon arrival we were warmly greeted and told that although wine tasting *is* pet friendly the restaurant is indeed not. Which is completely acceptable.I feel that the response from the venue in this review section is, however, NOT acceptable. What an utter disgrace! Especially considering the the VERY large purchase of wines and also the exorbitantly priced wine aerators we purchased. All of which I’m happy to back for a FULL refund if this incredibly rude owner wishes!

Lovely pasta & piza with good wine !

Excellent wines and really great pizzas. Stunning vistas and a nice play area for the kids. One gripe would be charging for substituting toppings on the pizza. Seems totally unnecessary.

As people of colour our Under Oaks experience fell far short of what seems to be an otherwise fantastic venue for others.We made a reservation for a specific time, but on arrival were informed that our table was doubled booked and we had to wait outside. No one checked on us or enquired if wed like anything in the meantime.Same lady came out and said she needed the outside table where we waited for a wine tasting for tourists, still no effort to resolve the double booking. It was clear she wanted us gone. We left eventually. I returned an hour later to drop someone off, and the table she urgently needed still stood untouched.So Under Oaks seemingly is not for everyone, or maybe some who works there prefers it that way...

Poor service but was very understaffed on the day. Long waiting times, waiters too busy running around to check on us, most tables had to self serve essentially. My burger wasnt much different than something you get at Wimpy but the pizza was good.

Food: glorious. Wine: excellent. Dessert: superb. Vibe and scenery: trees, hills, beautiful. We LOVED this place!

We enjoyed the wine tasting with a number of options to choose from, hosted by a very knowledgeable and friendly hostess. We had a delicious and generous meal at the Pizzeria which is child friendly and the outside section is delightfully situated under the trees. Wish we could have stayed longer on this beautiful and very old farm. A destination worth visiting!

We had a lovely afternoon. Perfect setting and kids had a blast. Unfortunately the flies bothered a bit but the food was tasty and staff friendly. Thankfully we booked didnt realize they were so busy. Will hopefully be back soon.

Under Oaks is an amazing restaurant. I have never received poor service and I have never received poor quality food. Their pizza are proper wood fired and thin based. And every single one is super tasty. And with reasonable prices to boot, you could not go wrong with Under Oaks. This is a great place for a Sunday lunch or even just a mid week dinner.

We booked a table for 4 for lunch this past saturday. The service was excellent. The food was served very quickly and the waitress really paid a lot of attention on placing us at the right table. Thank you to her. We loved the brandy pudding. Well done to the chef!! The pizza & pasta was divine.

Gorgeous outdoor venue! Lovely place to relax with friends, whether on the benches literally “under the oaks”, or to kick off your shoes and laze on the grass. Scrumptious pizzas are a bit overpriced, but portion sizes are good and the ingredients are always fresh!Very child friendly

Lovely pizza, amazing dessert selection - try the Triple Treat and Black Forest Ice-cream Gateau. Friendly waiters and amazing views of Klein Drakenstein mountains. Dont forget to try the Under Oaks Chenin Blanc for a crisp refreshing surprise. Good selection of red wines available too.

Food was good and staff friendly

One of our favourite local spots. Lovely setting; consistently good food and service from great staff. Very good and well-priced wines from the estate.Our only complaints are as follows: the owner never gets up from behind his desk to greet his patrons or inquire about their experience; he only offers one type of pasta (penne) - which for an Italian restaurant is mildly irritating; and the seating offered outside should be more comfortable. We absolutely HATE benches with no backrests! Those were fine in student days.....With regard to this - they also have a very strange policy of not taking bookings for the inside of the restaurant. We often prefer to sit inside in summer, due to the more comfortable seating, or because of bad wind outside.However, they generally wont allow bookings because they prefer to keep the inside seating for those whove booked for outside and need to move in due to bad weather conditions. We have arrived on occasion, on the spur of the moment, when they are full outside, but empty inside - and they have turned us away because of this policy!As a result, we do not go there nearly as often anymore.

Great accommodation: peaceful and luxurious. Pizza at the main house is delicious and we indulged twice over the weekend. We also enjoyed the Hero Adventure set up at Rhebokskloof where mountain biking, horse riding and quad bikes (among other activities) are offered. We will definitely be back!

One of my best stays ever @ traveling around the world. Location - unbelievable. Wine - gorgeous. Staff - giving me the feeling that I am at home. Id love to stay again! My stay was in Feb 2015

Step back into Old South Africa.If youre looking for a wine farm tasting experience where the level of service you receive is seemingly based on the colour of your skin then you will be right at home at Under Oaks, where Caucasian people are tended to for hours tentatively while people of colour are left with melting chocolates in the sweltering heat wondering if theyll ever receive their next paid for glass of wine.

Lovely atmosphere with stunning view from the pizzeria. Their pizzas tasted great. Tiramisu was good too. There is a jungle gym for kids to play. Service is friendly and quick.

The pizzeria is not the place it used to be ever since the original restaurant owner was worked out during lockdown.

Did not know of this place till we were invited today, and I was completely blown away! I drove all the way out of Bellville and it was well worth it. The staff os very friendly and assisted our table well and they kept us well informed. The pizza was the highlight of the evening. I have had many pizzas but ill drive all the way out for more of your Pizzas!! Well done Under Oaks

Visited this establishment during the festive period and was just as impressed as when I first visited a few years ago.The ambience is very casual when you walk in and the seating under the oaks is welcome on a hot summer day.The drinks selection is nice with a good range of beer and other drinks.We started with the focaccia which was delicious and a great start to the meals.Moving on to mains, the dishes were served timeously and were delicious. Everything was well made and had care put into it.The flavours fromthe pizzas was great and I recommend trying any of them.
