Staff could have more of a sense of urgency when taking orders etc. We were ready to order and some of the waitresses were standing around chatting so we had to wait. We didn’t have a clear sense of who our actual waitress was as no one introduced themselves to us etc.Food came quickly and was very good, but pricey considering the informal attitudes of the staff.

Average, no specials givens or made aware of with the place being busy. The burger was okay, chips we initially received were not up to standard, had to make them aware of what quality they were sending out before receiving fresh chips. In addition we had a number of waiters, had to catch one of them to remind them of our order extra sauce and a tonic only which took a ridiculous time to be served considering only the can had to brought to the table. Also noticed that the power went off a couple of times, not sure if it tripped or what was causing it

We went for lunch and it was excellent for its price. The beers, burgers, and fish and chips were all good. Will return if Im in the area again!

Amazing place to go visit. We had great weather and nice art shops nearby. Food is delicious and the view is amazing. Staff were friendly and it was nice and spacious and there were no loud music,so it is good to have a one on one conversation. Great chips but the way.

Very nice place to chill

An amazing restaurant with generous portions. The Biltong platter is delicious and you have a large selection of CBC beers to choose from.

Staff went over and above to make room for my family of 13 on a very busy day. Staff and food was amazing!

Not bad but the food was mostly disappointing. The ribs were extremely dry with 2 of our guests that ordered it. The paarl burger was good but not great. The gin was cold at least. The only positive thing about the food was the vegetarian options. The mushroom pesto burger and the house salad got good reviews at our table. The house salad had almost no leaves. Mostly bulky salad and a delicious lemon dressing. There are many activities at Spice route and there are better restaurants to try.

Food was very well prepared, presentation was awesome. The service was efficient and our waitress very friendly. I also like the fact that Barley & Biltong is situated not to far from the N1. I would definitely recommend Barley if you looking for affordable well presented and tasty option for a day out. LOVED IT!!!!

The place is beautiful and food is great but the service needs some improvement otherwise good.

We had the chicken burger and was not impressed at all. It’s pretty much a dry piece of chicken breast with an overwhelming amount of peri-peri sauce. For the price we paid, this is definitely not worth the money.We were quite disappointed in the chicken burger.

With beer from CBC and amazing biltong and meat platters, this is a must if you are at the Spice Route.

Quite nice place, but avoid if any of your group is vegetarian. Only one veggie option on the menu and that was badly done (burger patty = sludge) and not much concern from staff when we pointed this out.

Beautiful place for the whole family. We enjoyed beer tasting and chocolate tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the pizzeria.

Tranquil location away from the city, there was a beautiful breeze, food was great and the service was good.

A nice setting, but was slightly disappointed with the menu. With biltong in the name, I expected far more biltong options on the menu (such as a biltong burger or pizza etc). They served a lot of chips (which were good) and the burger looked nice, but the taste was mediocre. In general, not bad, but not great either

Yum yum yum. Have been here twice now, once for breakfast and another time for lunch. Both dishes were delicious. Staff are very attentive and energetic and friendly. Was an enjoyable, beautiful atmosphere... with the most spectacular views.

Sundays seem to very full, yet we were stil able to be seated without a reservation and the amount of people there added to the overall ambience and experience by creating a fun and relaxing environment. When seated you have the choice of different baskets of biltong, beers, or hamburgers. We opted for the drankensburg burger and it was ready within around 15min, they give you a very generous proportion of chicken on the hamburger, definately worth your money, 3x chicken breasts which were delicious and soft and well cooked, but the fries were outstanding and together with the beautiful view, il be back to again for sure.

We were there this morning for breakfast with visitors from Auz. The service was one big disappointment. Luckily they had the nice view to make up for that.

Very simple menu predominantly hamburger based. Indoor outdoor tables with benches not desperately comfortable. Adequate wine list. Our waitress told us that custom had dropped off recently.

4 stars for the atmosphere but 2 for the food. Rocomammas burgers are bigger and cost less. Food tasted good but for that prices I expected More.

One of the best places Ive been to with a magnificent view. Only reason for not giving them 5 stars is variety on the menu, and I almost fell off one of the benches outside because it was very unstable.

Good food, beautiful view of the vineyards at Spice Route. Service was lacking and we had to place an order with multiple different staff. Would still recommend, but be sure to place your food order with your drinks or youll have a long wait.

Not a very wide range of food and drinks and the play area for kids is way too far from the restaurant. You cant see it at all. The burgers are delicious and the chips too. I also love the salad.

Fish had funky smell. Burgers were average for the premium price. Get the feeling the place was great when it opened but has been left to run on autopilot for too long.

Great restaurant part of the spice route estate. The restaurant serves a wide range of burgers (delicious) along with cold platters and snacks.As the CBC brewery is next door, the restaurant also offers 5 CBC beers on tap at fairly reasonable prices.Despite the fact that the restaurant is decently sized, expect to wait before being seated on weekends, it gets very busy.

The place has that great grilled meat smell when you walk in, which is very inviting. The selection is fair, certainly not large. Their salads were generous and tasty, though not quite my style and a tad basic. We also had burgers, which I would call adequate. They were large, but not exceptional, and had that parboiled taste.Service was prompt, however the food took 40 minutes to arrive, though it was busy at the time.In terms of pricing, I would be willing to pay about half what I did for the Tafelburger I had, vs what it cost. So the food, to my mind, should be priced at half of the menu price in terms of value.Of course, great location and views and a good vibe in the place.

This place is very popular due to being located on the amazing Spice Route estate, but is TOTALLY OVERRATED! Burgers are not on par with similar establishments that charge way less, yet here prices start at R115 for a very basic burger. Does not come even close to the pizzeria on the same estate! Great views though, but again that is owing to the location and not the quality of the restaurant. Wont be going there again in a hurry.

The place smelled like old urine, the service is slow so good for chilled vibes, atmosphere is good. The food well, they literally only have burgers on the menu for mains (and ribs), ribs are not good at all and the platter is a waste of time let alone money. This is literally a place you come when you drunk and don’t care about taste or smell. Which is a shame as the venue, staff & beer is good.
