Home away from home. Warm at home vibe with a lot to do in the surroundings. Although the breakfast was limited, but supper was served at top notch.... thank you PH Riempie for making my familys stay memorable

Interesting property featuring about 16 thatched roof rooms and another set of more standard adjoining rooms. The individual thatched rooms are relatively quiet (especially number 28 without any activity at the braai or pool given the season).Staff were helpful and resolved a serious challenge with the WiFi so that it was at least passable. Breakfast was on par with other Protea properties with a selection of cold cereal, yogurt and fruit in addition to the option to order eggs, bacon, tomato and mushrooms.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable but the food was not excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay. Very clean and friendly staff, especially the chef Graham, who went out of his way to cater to our dietery needs. I would suggest to have some sanitizers in the chalets though

Friendly, informative and helpful staff. Used my membership points and had a very relaxed stay over Easter weekend. Nice swimming area and accommodation, also providing safe parking on the premises. Can definitely recommend.

I sincerely hope by the time I post this review the wifi has been sorted out...Very tranquil and quiet area of town, awesome facilities for the weary travellers... be careful of the shower though... one moment excellent temperature of water, the next moment changing to scorching hot, must admit, the best bed mattress I have slept on in a hotel in ages...Staff friendly and attentive.

Beautiful location and very friendly staff. The room I booked was the most expensive on offer and yet was very simple. Problems with missing keys to open the connecting door only sorted the next day which defeated the purpose of paying for those rooms, the WiFi is unstable and was almost impossible to use for the first night, the front porch has no cover so when it rains the door mat is drenched in water and the room becomes dirty every time you come in. Two weeks after my stay Im yet to receive my Bonvoy points or my hotel bill though.

This hotel is tired.The receptionist when we checked in had a very bad attitude.There is a poor guy who is responsible for waitressing, aircon checks ,security etc.If it was not for his assistance, it would have been a real bad stay.Hope they will recover soon.Apart from the bad service the accommodation is comfortable.

The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Very friendly staff , including the ladies of the restaurant. Staff really went out of their way to ensure we enjoy our stay. The noise level were low. Children enjoyed the pool that is well maintained

I love this quirky hotel and its offer. It feels great to have your own little individual home on the lawns. The hotel has been refreshed and update and is looking well for it. The pool area is also lovely, and we were disappointed the dinning room doesnt extend to the terrace next to the pool any longer, however the lovely waiting staff set up a table for us. This shows the extra mile they were prepared to go to make our stay memorable.

We had one of the little round cottages and they were nice, spacious and clean.The staff was super helpful in organizing pick-ups to restaurants near by and in finding activities (in particular Denise).Would definitely comeHere again :)

The hotel was neat and clean. Good breakfast offered. Close to Cango Caves, reason for our visit. However, was not completely impressed with the dinner.

What an AMASING stay. Stayed at the Oudtshoorn Riempies Hotel during the Covid19 outbreak in SA. Considering the ongoing pandemic, we were treated like the royal family! Very family-friendly, nice, spacious room and an all-round great atmosphere. If youre ever in Oudtshoorn, dont give the Protea Riempies Hotel a miss!!!

A good 3* hotel about 15 minutes walk to the shops & restaurants of Outshoorn. The rondavel we stayed in was spacious & airy although the bathroom was a bit small. Nice bar & pleasant friendly staff. Food wise we only had breakfast on our 2 night stay which was better than some hotels on our tour. Lovely grounds & nice pool area. Overall good.

The internet only works in the lobby. The hotel appears to be understaffed. The staff is less than pleasant. The location is great. The facilities are nice. It has a playground, nice grounds, a pool and should be a good place for a family to stay. The restaurant has pretty good food.

Good service from front desk to restaurant warm lively polite people helpful people they helped me when i locked my room key inside the room with a smile and in a friendly manner. They also delivered my dinner in my room they kept it warm and the food was delicious. The breakfast was good the ladies there were welcoming and gave good service.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was ideal to explore the area and also access the Oudtshoorne town. The garden environment and the related rondavel layout was very pretty and relaxing after a long days drive The staff were efficient and courteous and the hotel was well run. We had both the breakfast and the dinner and enjoyed both with the menus presenting a good variety of good food.The only negatives we encountered were the room and bathroom were tired and in need of an upgrade. The bathroom was also on the small side

My wife and I stayed for three nights and on the second day she was still in town visiting the local museum so I needed an extra keycard to get into the room. I asked the receptionist for an additional key for our room and she handed me one without asking for ID, name or anything else, this was even the first time she saw me! Keep that in mind when leaving valuables in your room..Hotel is conveniently located right off the highway. The grounds are quite nice with multiple small bungalows. The rooms have high ceilings which results in quite a spacious atmosphere.If you take a closer look you can see a few outdated parts within the bathroom and the doors leave big gaps for light and insects to come through.The selection of TV channels is very basic and only 4-5 are offered in good quality, I would expect more from a hotel like this.

Our stay at the Oudtshoorn Riempie Estate was one of the best ever. The part that impressed us most, was the friendly staff and no request as to big or to small. We were treated like royalty. Thank you Riempie Estate.

My husband and i have stayed in few Protea Hotels over the years as we believe in the Brand. This one probably comes 2nd on our list. Neat and Spacious Room. Because we stayed for 4 nights, they upgraded us too. Very Friendly staff but also not invasive. The Hotel itself is very well positioned in Oudtshoorn. Turn right out of the ground and a 1km away you will get restaurants and shops, but turn left you can enjoy a walk / run in serenity and relaxation. The Buffet breakfast was so wonderful and cant fault it. Awsome grill olderly lady that Makes the most awsome omelettes. Very small a la carte Menu, but enough should you stay in for the night. only complaint was my calamari was shockingly small portion for the price. Other then that their sandwiches was worth it.The only things i recommend is to place the pool towels outside on the lounges in the afternoon or at on a table. This way after you jump in you dont see the sign that you have to get it at the reception :). The hotel has to really think about about the flow/layout from the bar through the restaurant area to the pool. The Bar area should be positioned toward the end of the restaurant flowing outside towards the pool with some couches etc to create some interest in the afternoon. Great space really just need to be utilized a bit better.

All was great except for dirty floors and headboard in room.

Lovely setting just outside the centre of Oudtshoorn. Each room is a ronddawel on its own..like a hut. The room was nicely decorated. It felt very homey. There were two chairs to sit outside on the small verandah. I will definitely recommend this place. The breakfasts were not included. Although it was expensive, the selection was great

Nice garden and nice rooms set inside the garden. Makes for some beautiful pictures. Bathrooms are too small and the door shouldnt open into the bathroom.

I loved my stay at Protea Rimpies Oudtshoorn. The staff are excellent from reception to all the staff in the hotel in the restuarant made my stay extra special. Your staff really are difference with excellence!

The place is kids friendly, the staff is exceptional. Please give the chef at this establishment a Bells, the food is always on point.

If all Proteas could look amd operate like the Riempies it would be my first choice for accommodation always. Was more than pleasantly surprised and impressed with Riempies.
