Pure, wholesome, homely, soulful little spot.This is the actual legendary oyster bar, well priced, decent selection, lovely staff and really generous sushi portions, havent had sashimi that think in a while.Its welcoming, unpretentious and a down right delight.And right on the harbour too, right there on the ocean :)Only had the raw items, which frankly, its an oyster bar, come for high quality fresh ingredients. If you need a braai their neighbour is literally a fish braai spot.The harbour is a vibe

The restaurant has one of the best sea views,however my food experience was not a good one..We ordered oysters for starters and prawns with fries for mains. We waited 20 mins to get the oysters, when she finally got to our table,she brought the mains BEFORE the starters so we asked her if she forgot about our oysters order and she said:’ ooh I ddnt know you wanted them before your main dish’😳🤦🏽‍♀️🙌🏽😫 anyway we ate the main first,the fries were coldand tasted like frozen fries not freshly fried, which was a huge disappointment. When we finally ate our oysters,they were atleast good and fresh and their prawns.

Loveeeeee the bake and calamari combo.The fish was so fresh and even the batter was surprisingly tasty... usually I don’t like fried food but they know how to make a good quality fried fish and it didn’t taste greasy at all.Salmon sashimi and oyster were also very delicious. It was my favorite part of Mossel bay

The service was great but the food was disappointing. There is a small selection of seafood to choose from. The calamari strips were heavily fried. The tubes were great but the butter sauce with it was much too oily to complement the food. The tartar sauce tasted more like garlic mayo.

I have a personal preference and love for this tiny restaurant situated in the Mosselbay Harbor. Over the many years that we have been visiting it had rejuvenated itself many times by improving the ambience and menu. From just having oysters, sushi and bubbly they now offer a few fish dishes, wine, beer on tap and can you believe it - gin on tap, which was delicious by the way. I had tempura prawns and my partner sushi which we loved. Our waiter was friendly and introduced us to a few alternatives on the drinks menu.But what make me come back time and time again is the ambience and amazing view. Sitting there on the open narrow deck, on red chairs and surrounded by white tables and umbrellas overlooking the sparkling blue bay is the best ever. It reminds one of sitting in a taverna on a Greek island overlooking the sea - but better! I can really recommend that you visit and being there around sunset, is even more spectacular.

My favourite place to get sushi. Its not the best sushi but its damn close for a much better price than the competition. The view and setting is also near impossible to beat. Food sometimes takes a while but who cares when you have a great place to sit and chill. 😎💪

This has been a favourite for some time. Sadly when we visited last week, after months of lockdown, we were disappointed.The menu was severely limited. On recommendation of the waiter, we ordered the tuna sashimi. He said the tuna was as fresh as you get it in South Africa. It was awful, should not have been offered.What was hugely disappointing was that we had our Golden Retriever with us and asked whether she could sit with us outside. Unfortunately the answer was no due to Health Department regulations. We left her in the car, with windows wide open and within our view.We both had to use the restroom during our visit. They were filthy, with no toilet paper, no soap, no hand towel. We couldnt help wondering how the Health Department would overlook this.We hope this beautifully situated little gem manages to pull up its socks again and revamp its loos.

The sushi was good.The service was good.The kitchen was a bit slow.There are mice living in the roof above the kitchen.Mice living in restaurants is a big no-no for me.

I will never set my foot in this place again, especially if youre celebrating something special. We asked a waiter to take a family photo of my daughters engagement memories, and the photo was photo bombed (not once, but twice). I complained to the manager but his remorse and attitude did not sound sincere. No rating from me as an apology from the offender didnt lift my mood. See photos of photo bomber.

We had a great time at this place. The food was amazing and the hospitality was really good. The place is tiny so if you want to sit outside you would have to make a reservation. But there is plenty of space outside. The craft beer was amazing and the calamari was to die for. The sushi was very good maybe just a little dry. There are different options at the sushi bar but they cator for small to medium meal. There is no platters or big combos. Overall very good. 👍

Nice place, friendly staff, we wanted oysters and wine. They delivered. It was good and the place was well kept. We liked the atmosphere. Only thing I would suggest is is adding onions and red vinegar topping to the menu. Just like you get your oysters in France.Other than that I have to say the waiter we got was great. We are tourists. Tipping is different in every country. In Belgium you dont need to tip. Here we started tipping 10 to 15 % and usually the waiter looked unhappy. I dont even have to, I feel. In this place the guy was happy and thanked us with a big smile. Finaly, after two months in South Africa we were completely happy with our experience in a bar/ restaurant.

Disappointing! Having read some great reviews I was expecting something special. The setting is lovely (right by the ocean) & the oysters good, but the calamari, hake combo was not great with cold chips (had to ask for hot ones!) also chips were powdered not real potatoes and pretty bad calamari (straight out of the freezer cabinet). All in all not a good evening.

For a place that has a limited menu, I was so excited knowing that they would focus on quality not quantity.First things first we ordered oysters as we were at the oyster bar. After my first I just tasted sand, thought maybe it would be just the one. Nope second one aswell. I sent them back and was told the new supplier was at fault for not cleaning them properly.I then ordered salmon sushi that looked like it was smoked, and when I enquired they insisted it wasn’t. Well first bite told me it was.Our table ordered the fish and calamari combo with chips(paid an extra R15) and they were frozen oven baked chips!!Tempura prawns was cooked to perfection.Overall service was average.Food a huge let down.Cocktails were average.Wouldn’t recommend at all.

More at (insta/ceilingkatz): Walking along the road towards Mossel Bay Harbor, you’ll noticed a row of restaurants and shops on the left side of the harbor entrance. There is a diverse bunch of shops, from a London Bus fish and chips to a traditional braai on the beach. One of my favorites at the pier is The Oyster Bar. They serve fresh oysters with a pink sea salt ice and a homemade champagne chives and pepper sauce on the side. Pair that with the local Harmony gin and tonic along with the sunset, there is no perfect way to enjoy a saturday afternoon #yummy 😋

Did not enjoy the oysters here at all. Calamari and prawn tempura were okay. Will probably not return.

I was sent here by the restaurant next door and we were getting a table the waiter/manager came to us and chased us away in the most rude way possible saying he is closed. This was at 10.15am with no sign indicating operating hours. Sad story.

Horrible service!! Ordered sushi with our Cocktails as a starter, but only received that an hour and a half later after we already ate our mains. The sushi was made with normal rice and was really dense to eat with barely any fish at all. They only brought half of the food we ordered as they forgot to put the rest of the order in. We were the only table except for one other table so it was not because they were busy. They brought us the wrong bill and was in general just sloppy. Worst experience at a restaurant in a long time. And when it came to the point where I just wanted to pay and leave, even the card machine was not working. Ps: they claim to not be on the entertainer app!
