👍Fantastic Restaurant @ Africa mall. Beautiful decorations, clean and the service is very nice. Specially Sushi, they have variety kind of sushi. I like creative menu “sushi on fire”. Let’s join me with the exciting of their cocktails .... thanks for concern about the hygienic at the covid-19 time ❤️
A nice place! A bit pricey if Im honest, and the main attraction is the waiter coming through and lighting meals on fire in front of you.Very friendly staff and giving you so many options if needed.Starter was amazing!Sushi for the price was a bit underwhelming but tasted ... Well like sushi, so you cant go wrong there.
By far the best sushi I have eaten. Whenever I have foreign guests, we eat here and they too agree it is the best sushi. Staff are friendly and professional. Beautiful ambience. One of my favourite restaurants!
We’ve been to wasabi twice over the past couple of years and it still lives up to its name. Friendly staff, great sushi and nice relaxing atmosphere. I can’t really talk about the rest of the menu but the sushi is really delicious and unique in that it puts a South African spin to it. So if you like sushi and feel like something different, I would highly recommend Wasabi. Prices are good for what you get and I would say value for money. They also had a gin bar setup going last time we visited which added another dimension to our experience. Overall very happy and will definitely visit again.
Very good food and a great variety. Service was fast too. The only thing that was off-putting was the extremely loud music that made having conversations difficult
Date Night, loved the sushi. Service and ambience was good
We had a sushi dinner at Wasabi tonight. And it was quite the experience. Even for 2 seasoned chefs. I think the table side flambe and blowtorching is a brave move on their part. It definitely pays by off enticing fellow diners with aromas and a bit of theatre. The sushi rice was impeccably, perfectly cooked and I cant say that about many places in S.A.The playful flavour combinations are strange, but it works. Honourable mention to whoever thought of melting cotton candy on salmon roses. I was in awe, but pleasantly suprised. The only negatives for me that could be improved on was the music that was too loud, we did ask for it to be turned down. We also had an oyster each..and I think you could really serve better, more juicy, alive oysters to match the standard of the rest of the meal. Last mention would be the amount of gold dust on the one sushi dish. Less is more.Service was attentive and fairly good. Mocktails were deliciousAll in all a definite must try for anyone that enjoys anything remotely sushi. Would definitely return to try the rest of the menu(we were too fixated on the sushi)
The signature sushi was very good, and the reason why the rating is not 1 start. We were disappointed in the service. The tuna dished to be flambéed at your table side was flambéed more than two tables away from us, where we couldnt see a thing. Might as well have done it in the kitchen. Even though there was ample sapce to do it next to us. When I asked the waitress about it she just laughed.! Now, this is obviously something small, but its the principle of how she handled it that was a bit uncool.
This is my favourite go to place when I crave for sushi. Some of their sushi creation is too sweet for my liking but nevertheless its the most decent sushi in Johannesburg.
Excellent food. Great service.Very enjoyable, relaxed evening
Excellent dining experience, thank you. Music could be softer though, so conversation is easier.
Was sup beeA little crappy joke for you.Food equals perfection. Everything is so tasty, so yummy, just absolutely delicious. From stir fry to sushi, dim sums and more. Cant go wrong with ordering anything on their menu. The service was great, we had a really friendly waiter and management also came to check up on us. They never got anything wrong and were fast as well. Everything I need from my waiter. The atmosphere wasnt bad, but really wasnt anything spectacular. Didnt feel like I was at an Asian restaurant or a seafood restaurant for that matter. Was just a bit lacking in my opinion.I will say that they are a bit pricey, other than that, they are fantastic.Wasabi gets Two Tasty Tummies stamp of approval.
Very great place, with good food. Their waiters and waitresses are very kind and attentive.
Great food, great vibe, just in general a really good place to have dinner
Nice restaurant with a wide variety of meals on offer. We tried the dim sum , chicken stir fry and hake. Food was well prepared, tasted great and arrived quick enough. Nice presentation with dry ice for the cocktails. We skipped dessert but definitely want to go back to try other items in the menu. Service was good. Good location. We went on a Sunday afternoon, it was busy but we did not need a reservation to get a table.
The food was good, but slightly cold when it got to us (not taking into account the stuff that should be cold). Music was a bit too loud taking away from the ambience of the place. Overall not to bad of a first time experience. Will try again!
The food at Wasabi is too class. have to try the signature and the flamed sushi range. a sure bet for a good night out
Had an amazing evening with Wasabi, the food is above your usual standard, quality sushi. And a big thank you to the Manager Sean and his team for accommodating a special day for us, went out of his way to make my sisters birthday incredible. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and chic design. Definitely going to visit again
Love, love, love this restaurant! Have never had a bad or even mediocre meal here. Best stir fry Ive ever had, the gao are amazing, their sushi is stunning both visually and on the palate. The Wasabi staff put in a lot of effort with their customer service and also with their food presentation, I would honestly eat here every day.
I had a beautiful experience from the service to the food. The Sushi was so delicious and the steak, OMG... definitely going again
Sushi was really good and well presented. Only negative was our waitress. Went over the specials very fast also couldnt understand her. Sitting upstairs was a miss for me. Seems like downstairs has a much better vibe. Slightly pricing.
Did you even go to wasabi if you dont order their signature gin cocktail? Their sushi never disappoints. I had the tuna steak, the flambé was a show but my steak was unfortunately overcooked. My evening experiences are always way better than the lunch experiences here. Excellent for intimate date nights or late lunches
Fantastic sushi,just a bit slow.
Best steak I have had in a long time Tomahawk Steak and Six Dog Blue Gin
Always brilliant, should probably stop ordering the same thing every time.
This Restaurant is situated in @_themallofafrica @wasabijhbThe Restaurant offers a variety of meals specializing in authentic Japanese, Thai and Cantonese cuisine.I tried the Hong Kong Pears. This item is from the starter menu and the presentation and flavor was amazing. These are potato dumplings stuffed with chicken, duck and prawn and served with two delicious sauces. These Hong Kong Pears are served three per portion.I felt like indulging in a burger so I tried the Wagyu Burger and Chips. This was an epic burger and the taste was phenomenal. The burger still retained the juices and the cheese melted beautifully. The garnishes in the burger all complimented the aroma of the Wagyu.Interesting fact: Wagyu has alot of marbling and therefore giving the burger a spectacular juiceness, richness and tenderness to burger with excellent flavor. The chips were fried to perfection, hot and salted/spiced.The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and inviting with options to be seated outside, inside or upstairs.I really enjoyed sitting upstairs and admired a few art pieces.Customer service was also incredible, friendly and client centric. ...#FoodReview#instaphoto#foodandthingz
Excellent service and great food, highly recommend it!
Loved the delicious food more than anything
The only redeeming quality about this place was our waiter, he was friendly and very attentive - some other staff members were inconsiderate and slammed the doors constantly while walking in and out which we asked to keep closed as it was quite windy. It’s a shame the food is so bad. Dumplings were over cooked, mushy and the casing too thick. Sushi was well presented but other than that below par. Spring roll filling was mushy. Chicken from Bang Bang Chicken was dry dry dry and so hard, sauce was tasty but obviously not homemade and rice well steamed. Overall the food was flavourless and very inauthentic. The bathrooms were filthy! Walls absolutely revolting (honestly as if someone peed on them and it dried while it dripped down). I feel terrible as the staff try really hard but I will not be returning or recommending. I do not feel well after eating here.
Very good; We had dinner here last week, and we were pleasantly surprised with the food. The decor is quite nice, Waygu burger (which I requested medium rare) was cooked perfectly, and she was happy with her fish. They have a nice little gin selection which they bring around with a bar cart for cocktails. Id recommend coming here, and well be back sometime soon.
The best food and definitely delicious fresh sea food
One of my favourite restaurants - never a disappointment.Situated at The Mall of Africa. Indoor and protected outdoor seating. Tasteful decor - good service. The actual menu items are presented to you by the waitrons on a tab so that you can see what you ordering. The cocktails are a must try - interesting indeed. Signature sushi is not alll that amazing but good. Pricing is steep.
Wasabi is a pretty looking restaurant with below average food. Not anything to rave about at all. My family and I had a variety of their food, dim sum, asian apple shaped stuffed potatoes, spring rolls, their Not so curry chicken curry, their wagyu burger to name a few. BELOW average and not tasty at all in my opinion. Honestly I was annoyed at how much we paid for the standard of food we were given.
Best suchi Ive tasted. If its your first time definitely try the 4/4 combo. Food is excellent but waiting time/service from our waiter was a bit long.
Good mocktails. Good service. Advised to reserve in advance. Sushi - the non-simple ones - a lot of sweet tastes and could do with a little less mayonnaise. Loved the oysters, nice and fresh. Overall good
A spectacular dining experience. Very classy. Warm and welcoming atmosphere with an excellent selection of sushi.
Not much of a sushi person buy not too bad, but the place is superb.
With the expectations already set by Villa Bianca and Fireroom, I was not disappointed at all. Our waiter Shadrack was amazingFriendly, full of energy and so knowledgeable. He checked up on us ever so often so as to not disturb us, which is much appreciated. The place was clean and neat, following all covid19 protocols. Will definitely be frequenting this restaurant!
Hats off to you chef Driaan and team.Sushi was amazing. Pity I wasnt able to take out pics.Loved your desert option that you did for us.Will be back for sure
Fabulous food and staff of note is Lynette she makes the whole experience enjoyable.
Incredible Sushi! Wow! Service was great! A breathe of fresh air and how service use to be. Well Done Wasabi!
Great experience! My hubby and I loved the unique sushi flavours. We had the dragon and tiger combo and was super tasteful. The salmon poké bowl was really delicious too! Overall great service and excellent food.
The best sushi I had in a long time!
Ohhh the food is mouth watering ❤
Would give 3.5 stars. Really not bad. Lovely service, although food took a long time. Food was good, but way over priced for what is was. Worth a visit but doubt we would rush back. So many other options available and it was not special.
They have the bestest & freshest sushi in JHB
The dragon rolls were out of this world, the other sushi was great too but the dragon rolls really stood out.The staff was great and very friendly, our waiter knew his way around the menu
In short, I can say that the food we had was okay at best. We started with a Poké Bowl and that had great flavour but the menu says sliced tuna, yet we got chunks and so it eventually became overbearing because the fish to rice portions arent equal. Even so, I can definitely say that its good value for money.Next we had a Nacho Libre plate of sushi. Presentation was great and the rest was good. My only problem is that because the pieces are pear-shaped (unconventional), it was quite difficult to pick up with chop sticks, the shape doesnt hold and the amount of sauce they put didnt help, so each piece fell apart. I definitely loved the crunch element though, good contrast.Lastly, we had calamari tubes as a main to share and the best I can say is that the accompaniment of fries was more enjoyable than the protein on the plate and I am passionate calamari lover! The sauce/soup that the calamari comes in was quite sweet for my taste and so we didnt even finish the dish.Over and above the mediocrity of the food (either over hyped on social media or we ordered all of the wrong things) our waiter wasnt the most accommodating and she kept trying to rush us.One good think I can say is thatthe food presentation is always great and the music sets a good ambience for conversations over wine (which by the way, none of my preferred wines were on the menu).
An unexplored gem. Springbok carpacchio with cream cheese, fire sushi. Their food is sublime
Easy to nevigate and loved the service.
If you enjoy the Fireroom youll enjoy this, same owners different location. Great Gin variety and the Tempura Tiger Rolls are a must have.
Unique and beautiful setting in an outdoor area with water and light features overlooking Midrand.Ideal for that special occasion as it’s quite romantic especially at night. Warning: it’s a medium to high budget venue. The Africa sushi platter is phenomenal - a veritable smorgasbord of flavors that compliment one one another yet, at the same time, surprise and delight the palette.False information by a waitron the previous weekend led us to believe that there was a 30% discount on sushi on Mondays - this was not the case.Gugu, our waitron for the evening, was knowledgeable about the dishes and impressed us with her drink recommendations that would compliment our food choice. She was friendly and attentive too. I was impressed with her use of a tablet to show us various meal options. All in all a wonderful evening despite the relatively high bill.
The best Sushi I have ever eaten!
Love the food. Always. Very polite waiters. Regards
Great place for sushi lover
Really great restaurant. We have been here a few times now and every time we go it is a great experience. The food is consistently brilliant and the service is as well. I would highly recommend going to this restaurant if youre feeling like something different from your usual steakhouse or sushi restaurant experience.
Excellent venue, friendly staff and my sushi braai was delicious 😋.
The food is absolutely amazing 5 stars for that but the service wasnt really top notch
Very dissapointing experience. I dont know if they didnt give much attention to my table because I was alone and not in groups as the other tables but I couldnt leave fast enough. Didnt finish my food, I opted for takeaway to go eat at home.
