Dealing with Apple devices has it pros and cons. Nothing wrong with the product, but seriously, if you have any question or service related queries/needs you always find yourself spending way too much time trying to speak to the right person (or rather email address). So...I just went to the store. When you get there, youre served with the process - I hate dealing with Apple after sales, customer service is simply poor, really doesnt matter where I go. Shout out to the Store manager, he was a light in a dark, irritating moment.

The worst service i have ever experienced. My apple product stopped working so i took into the store to get checked. The store could not resolve the issue so it was sent to the service center for which I was charged. I then received an sms and e mail confirming that the unit had been returned to the istore and that i should collect as soon as possible. I returned to the store and stood in the queue for another 45 minutes only to be told that the unit hadnt even been sent. I have just received a quote for the repairs. The repairs are 42% more expensive than a brand new replacement unit. Yes you are not miss reading this, I could replace the damaged unit with a brand new unit for 42% less than the quoted repairs. The quote doesnt even indicate what needs to be repaired so i phoned the i store call center to query this only to be told they dont know what the problem is as they dont open the units. It gets worse, they then go on to quote labour. How is this even possible? I have a couple of questions that maybe someone can answer1. Why are repairs 42% more expensive than a new replacement unit2. How did you quote for repairs if you dont know what is wrong3. How do you quote for labour when you dont know what is wrong, How many hours are you quoting for?4. Why would anyone repair a unit for 42% more than a brand new unit that carries a full warranty against the 90 day offered on repaired units5. Made a booking for 9:00, got bluntly told at the door that they only open at 10. Apparently its my problem that the Apple systems allows bookings for 9:00 even though they only open at 10:00. And its clearly OK for customers to have to wait for an hour outside the door. After 10min the manager still didnt bother coming to the door after I asked to speak to him/her. Zero attempt at client service, terrible.

This is a note to EVERYONE wanting to repair their laptops/iPhones etc. The iStore do not repair they replace. I took my MacBook in for repairs and they had told me my logic board and my battery needed replacement. They quoted me just short of R11k.After declining the quote. I took my laptop to Smerno where they have just repaired it perfectly for R2.5k. Turns out there was just a blown capacitor and 99% of the logic board was perfectly fine.I don’t want to add any emotional speech here as you’d understand by reading this what type of business these guys run. But if you’re wanting to repair any apple product, I’d recommend that you run a mile from these guys. Smerno is a great alternative.What an awful experience.

A tad disappointed in the technician who helped me at the iStore in Mall of Africa today. I brought in my old iPhone 7 that had been disabled and asked if he could help me restore it so that I can get some data off it and then I wanted to trade it in. He didnt even try restore it and immediately told me that I would need to do a factory reset to access the phone and then all my data would be wiped. I eventually left with my phone still disabled. Got home and googled how to take restore my phone. Within minutes I managed to restore my data and access my phone.Very bad service from the technician, however the sales lady who helped my pick out and fit a phone cover for my new iPhone 12 was very friendly. Kudos to her for atleast helping me as best she could.

I had a very bad experience last night at Istore Mall of Africa. I went to purchase a phone and the lady that was assisting me was really not helpful and her attitude said it all. She just gave me the phone, without even opening the box to check if the phone works or not. My purchase slip indicates that I got the Icare plus but I didnt get it nor did she tell me about it. Ive been calling the customer care and Ive been waiting for someone to get back to me. Attitude is very important when dealing with clients, can the management of the store please ensure that the stuff are friendly and can actually work with people.

Worst service ever if you’re taking up a cellphone contract. I’m an existing client with Telkom but was asked for ridiculous docs as if I’m a new client. I’m yet to comprehend which amount is correct between the R150 and R250 I’m requested to pay when adding another device to my contract. Ease of doing business is 0 for me.

I took my Iphone X in for transfer of all info onto my new iphone 12. Was advised it would take an hour or more and, would be a charge of R200 since the Iphone 12 was not purchased at the istore. I agreed. Left both phones with the technician and returned 1.5 hours only to be told by the technician they were still busy (at this point there were two of them standing over the phones looking pretty lost). Around 30 minutes later, the technician tells me that my iphone X kept failing on the update (software needed to be updated before they could transfer the info to the new iphone 12). I was surprised that two hours had elapsed and almost no progress had been made. He offered to keep the phones and keep trying and advised we could return to the mall by closing time latest and collect both phones with the job completed. My instincts kicked in and I declined, requested a refund, which the technician obliged too but not before commenting we dont do refunds in the event of multiple fails but because you waited so long i will request a refund on your behalf .I thought a very arrogant reply and even more so did i think this when I arrived home 15 mins later and checked for myself why the phone was failing to update the software and saw IMMEDIATLEY it was because the phone storage on the iphone X was not enough to accommodate the update. Two technicians who do this for a living daily had stood in confusion and wondered why the iphone X was not updating for such a long time and, two hours of my precious time that I will not get back. On the matter of the refund, the employee tasked to do this explained to me quite apologetically that the system was troubling and he needed to get his managers intervention. Strangely enough, the manager walked over to the same machine that the employee was using and in less than a minute effected my refund leading me to conclude that unfortunately the employee was not trained well enough to use the system for purposes of effecting a refund. That employee though that had failed himself to effect the refund was very polite. Further, there are no controls in place at walk in (atleast not today) to ensure customers sanitize and, also ensure customers are attended to in order of entry. You walk in there and you are pretty much on your own trying to find assistance. An employee just attends to the first customer they see without regard to which customer actually entered first. The level of customer service, product knowledge and customer care is surprisingly mediocre.

Staff doesnt have a clue about the products and the best offers that could help customer. They always try to sell you the product that benefit them but are least bothered in understanding customer needs. I suggest you to go there only to browse the products and take the deal someplace else. Or do your research before hand rather than wasting your time taking with them.

I had a shocking experience at this particular IStore. Looking to purchase a MacBook Air 2020, I confirmed online through the IStore website for stock, and Mall of Africa at the time was the only IStore which had stock.So I travelled eagerly from Randburg. Walking into the IStore I already new it was not going be successful. I waited for service for about 10 minutes before a female sales assistant assisted me. She went for about 15 minutes to view stock, before returning saying they are all sold out. So I let her know that the website still says they have stock. Leaving again she comes back to tell me there is one on a waiting list, so they will phone the customer and ask how serious she is. After waiting another 10 minutes, a very friendly and understanding male sales assistant told me now, that the MacBook was sold 4 days ago, and is only here waiting for collection. So by this stage very confused as to if there was even a MacBook or not. Anyways, very upset and annoyed at the customer service I received, I asked for the manager. The manager, female, was even worse. She treated me like I was inferior to her and she was doing me a favour. Absolutely disgusted with the service through this experience. Definitely the worst IStore! I ended up going to Incredible Connection around the corner from the Store and receiving 100x better service and a 3 year warranty versus the 1 year warranty you get at the IStore. Will never support an IStore ever again, and especially not the Mall of Africa one. TRY AVIOD AT ALL COSTS!
