A fantastic restaurant and besides a lovely place to spend your evening at.The owners are just adorable and so passionate about their menu you simply have to leave with a smile.We had kingklip and the signature dish, a 300g beef fillet and both dishes were just great. Outstanding quality and an appealing presentation.We even got to taste a lamb chop because we told the owner we loved lamb.Definitely go and eat there.Cant go wrong with this place.Thank you for letting us have a great finish in Knysna.

Great place for dinner. Nice hosts and waitrons. Great food and as nearly everbody mentioned: the fillet is great!!! The springrolls and the fish soup is also really good and worth a try. Just go there.

Nice spot for a quiet dinner. We had the veggie pasta and the oven baked fish, both were lovely. The staff were very friendly, offering to order us with a cab after wed settled the bill. Great value too.

The service was great and the meat eaters among us enjoyed the food. The chefs are well equiped to serve quality meat. I dont recommend going here if you are vegetarian. They have two options of which both are mediocre at best. The pasta is plain, there is no sauce and the vegetarian delight are randon small snacks that dont work well flavor wise together.

We had a wonderful meal here. Starters and main for two with beers and a bottle of wine for only R500. Exceptional. Hard working staff and personable owner. Only thing that causes it to lose a star was frosty welcome by front of house at door.

Good food. Great help staff. Appropriate pricing. Owner and her assistant/partner may want to take a breath. I was solo so had the chance to watch things function. Lots of moving about, and again, powers-that-be seemed a bit uptight. Breathe a bit. It all was flowing well from my perspective.

Like a lot of people mentioned the beef fillet is extraordinary!!!Still the Rest of the menue was really delicious as well. Charming host! We‘ll come back soon.

Food was very good. Delicious veggie pasta and oven baked fish. However I will reinforce that the front of house was a tad frosty - possibly slightly harassed because they were busy. And they could perhaps do with one additional waiting staff - there were long waits between courses and to get the bill.

We were welcomed and lucky to get a table without a booking. The ambiance, service and food were outstanding. The owner is clearly very passionate and it shows (perhaps a tad over zealous impacting the serenity?!)

This place was recommended as one of the best things ever on the planet, so expectations were high. Although it was good - it wasnt amazing. I had steak - good, but cooked too long (asked for medium rare).It was all good and fine, but nothing stood really out.

We were lucky enough to get a table as booking is usually essential. We had Babotie as starter it was delicious.We then had the fillet steak as main. It was the best tasting melt in your mouth steak I have ever had.Dessert was a magnificent chocolate cake, which I wouldnt normally have.To die for.With a decent bottle of red wine for less than £50Good value, good food, and great host.

Ellen is a superb host. Shes very passionate about her food. The food and wine was excellent quality and well priced. We shared a bobotie samosa as a starter. Deeeelish. A nice place, but disappointing regarding the reviews. The curry was good but even if the lady mentioned that everything was fresh, the prawns were obviously frozen and over cooked. The cheesecake is good but nothing to die for. Very quick in handing you the bill, as if they were in a hurry to see you leave

Very good spot to have dinner in Knysna. The lady who is owning the place adds a lot to the great atmosphere. And I definitely had one of the best steaks so far!

Great place, all the food was delicious.We ate meatballs with pasta, veg pasta, steak fillet, King lamb chops, and chicken breast filled with feta cheese. All dishes were great but the fillet steak was amazing.

This restaurant is an absolute must visit when coming to Knysna. Firstly, it is very unique and unlike any other restaurant we have ever been to. In number the menu options seem limited, but it provides a variety of meals including all the meats as well as vegetarian options and you have at least 2 options for each category. The food was absolutely divine: I had the stuffed chicken breast and my boyfriend had the vegetarian delight. What a treat! The home made pasta that came with my meal is an absolute must-have. The vegetarian delight provided my boyfriend with a delightful variety to eat as well. The food was presented in a very unique way and was very tasty and, morever, felt like a healthy meal. We will definitely be recommending The Olive Tree to family and friends and will be back for more!

The place was fully booked but we got a seat at the bar. The food was nice and the staff (particularly the owner) were very engaging and kind.

Cool relaxed vibe, yet great order and amazingly well organised service. This is a place is well organised and well managed!!Food...CANT EVEN EXPLAIN how well thought out, innovative and well made the food is. Simply amazing food! If i had to say anything, i would say work on your desert menu, as its not on the same level as your food menu. Will dine at olive tree again for sure!

The Olive Tree is a local experience at its best. Not only did I have the best steak/ beef fillet in my life (!), even more outstanding was the personal touch. The room itself looks like eating at some friends kitchen and the super friendly owner make you feel just like a friend. The menu is very well curated and every dish has a story... Plus, a perfectly matching wine list. The Oliven Tree is def a recommendation, when in Knysna. But be advised to book ahead!

The restaurant has a somewhat nostalgic Charme.Eine reservation is absolutely necessary. The ladies who run the restaurant are attentive and friendly. The personal reading of the menu becomes an almost theatrical performance, the hands are used as a sign language interpreter. Thats it a great show.The food is good quality, but the last bit to a top restaurant is still missing.A recommendation deserves it in any case.

A very good meal. Reservation required. Fish soup of the day as a starter and bobotie. Then, the famous fillet of beef, terribly melting, and meatballs. For dessert, a darling cake and a panacota with yogurt and passion fruit. Everything was very good. The prices are very reasonable and the service attentive and efficient.
