The view from the boat is amazing. Staff are not professional. Some people were just taking the whole seat and didnt respect our request to give us space to sit although there was space to fit in additional persons. When we told the staff she didnt respond and was not cooperating. we ourselves have to go up and down the boat decks to find a seat after paying? Not worth

You have to go on one of these cruises, stunning view and you can buy good and drinks on board. Glass Windows all around which makes it perfect for even cold days when you dont want to venture out on the deck. Worth every cent

I have read some of the reviews regarding the staff on the John Benn not being friendly or professional. I could not disagree more. We have found them very jovial, friendly and helpful. The whole experience was wonderful and we would recommend this trip wholeheartedly. Wonderful views.

I have very mixed feelings about this trip, the view was absolutely AMAZING and so relaxing. I must say our waitress was very effective, but the bar was apparently causing the backlog of drinks. We were planning on eating a light meal on the boat, but first we decided to have some vegetable spring rolls. The food was not fresh at all, the salad that came with the spring rolls was so old that the lettuce was not even crispy anymore. After seeing that we decided to rather just drink drinks and eat at one of the restaurants as we get off the cruise.

Although a beautiful cruise the John Benn is completely run down and seems to have not been upgraded or kept in years!

Trip not bad but the staff on the ferry most unprofessional. I was approached in the most hostile way because I had some snacks and drinking water with me when boarding. I was not given any information about this rule when I bought the tickets.

In our opinion, the John Benn Cruise was definitely not worth the money or time. There are countless better options for a trip to the Knysna Heads.On arrival in the Knysna Harbour, we asked a few locals what they recommended we should do, among their suggestions was a trip on the John Benn. We were very disappointed.Sadly, the trip is no longer narrated, which loses all its historical value.On their website, when they describe the John Benn as comfortable and cosy with a classic wooden finish, they are referring to the same comfortable and cozy that estate agents use when they are trying to sell a tiny-two-bedroom-but-actually-one-bedroom fixer upper. The wood finish was definitely classic, but leaning more towards the late 70s, with a dash of koshuis class.The staff were the biggest problem on the boat. I doubt that you could put their attitude down to mistaking us for tourists or whether every single staff member on the boat was just having a terrible day, but I dont remember one person greeting me back.The ladies behind the bar were definitely too preoccupied on their cellphones to notice customers that were waiting to be served.

From the outside the boat looks like it needs attention. The cruise was nice.

Very poor, beware the operator sells a contract, not an exerience. We had a party on our trip that made it unpleasant particularly for children given the swearing and aggressive behavior. The operator was not interested saying that he sold me a trip on a boat, which I clearly had. You can see the attitude of management in other responses to poor reviews. I have also contacted local press and published on Facebook. There must be other less arrogant operators that offer a better experience. Look at the similar comments on TripAdvisor, shocking

I was very skeptical about John Benn because there were so many negative reviews here. Im glad I regret we did not go. Staff were very friendly. Cheese was very tasty.
