Such a beautiful setting and lovely food. Being vegetarian, I tried the tofu Katsu curry! Oh my God! What a delicious blend of flavours. I thought it would be more Thai, but tasted more mild Indian. Was perfect! The poppers had a big bite but still delicious. Lovely staff as well and Teenage, our waiter, was an absolute enthusiastic human. Wonderful experience indeed and a must for all who visit Knysna / garden route.

The food wasnt terribly good, but not bad either.. It wasnt wow. The waitress and manager are extremely rude though and thats what ruined my experience here. I felt so embarrassed watching the waitress argue with my friend about the issues he had. We would have come back if she had just been a little nicer, but now this place has left a horrible taste in my mouth..

Very nice setting. Waitress very pleasant. Food is OK but we expected better considering the price and the setting. My friend took the seafood paella and the rice was not up to Spanish standards. My seafood curry was nice but not exceptional. The decadent chocolate cake was not very decadent, at least in terms of chocolate taste. And the crème brûlée was really bad, the texture was not smooth as I would expect.

We went to the Butterfly Blu Restaurant on the 2nd of April 2021. Anesipho was the waitress.It had an amazing atmosphere when we arrived. All the necessary COVID-19 protocols were followed. We had an excellent view of the ocean. I enquired about the beers and were allowed a quick tasting before making my final selection.We ordered the Gourmet Beef Burgers and it was excellent along with some cocktails and a Dom Pedro. I ordered the Red Bridge Golden Ale. Sadly there was no stock of the Red Bridge Lager, but the Golden Ale was really amazing. They also had Jack Black and Castle on tap.There were ample and safe parking outside the restaurant.Amazing service. A menu with a wide variety of options to choose from. Come to Butterfly Blu Restaurant when you are in Knysna. They come highly recommended.

Went there for lunch. What a wonderful setting, overlooking the beach and great views.Well thought out menu, catering for all tastes, including vegetarian. Good selection of seafood.My daughter had an enormous vegetarian pizza, I had mussels in a delicious sauce.Very good service, with a smile.Reasonable prices.Ill try out the dinner menu next time Im in the area.

Spectacular views. Food is good to average. Waitresses very unaccommodating and unhelpful. Sadly the place lacks warm and intimacy. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold. I suggest that management considers lighting the fires, bringing in space heaters or providing blankies. We could not wait to finish our dinner & leave. Normally we would linger, have a 2nd bottle of wine, dessert and coffee. All the other patrons also seemed cold - everybody kept on their puffer jackets, zipped up. Quite a disappointing evening. We normally come for lunch and love it. Dinner? Not again.

We just love this spot. Awesome for a light lunch with a gin on the side (draught in my husbands case) and wonderfully cozy for a supper with a crackling fire and a glass of red. The staff are attentive and engaging. Cynthia, you are warm and entertaining. Thank you for making our annual trip to Brenton on Sea just so much more memorable.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The view is sublime, the pizzas were delicious (and massive) and the staff were friendly and SO welcoming. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

A restaurant with beautiful views and great food! The Butterfly Blu restaurant is a gem in Brenton with breathtaking views! The food is tasty and unique and the staff are friendly and service is quick! You feel like family when eating here and it is a great place to take friends and family for a good, hearty meal when in the area. Ten out of ten!

The dining room is really Amazing - especially when it’s sunset. Postcard views from the dining room onto the Brenton Beach. Service was pretty good, although they made a small mistake with my order. The guy at the Front of house was very friendly, cracked jokes and tried to accommodate me which I really appreciated. Food was good - I had fish and salad with chips. They also had vegan options which is fantastic. Would return.

When my mom picked Butterfly Blu for lunch I resigned myself to the classic seafood restaurant Greek salad, us vegetarians are have to order.But a quick glance at the menu revealed a vegetarian section! And vegetarian pizza options. Cut to an hour later and I was enjoying one of the most delicious salads Ive ever ordered. Fresh, crunchy Asian flavours filled my bowl. Accompanied by a spicy sesame dressing I was having to deny my family third and fourth mouthfuls of my food. Something that rarely happens!If youre in need of something a little more substantial there is a mushroom burger, a tofu curry, the most delicious twice friend chips and a wide selection of pizza.Personally, I cannot wait to come back for that salad!

Outstanding restaurant with a great menu. It is based in Brenton on Sea, a modern self catering complex in Knysna with excellent views of the Indian Ocean. Parking is not an issue and they are open on Sundays.We skipped dessert as they didnt have decaf cafe available, but the dessert options looked really. Overall, it was a very nice experience to be at this restaurant. We certainly will be back.

The one star is for the view which is amazing and the cocktails were delicious... BUT my boyfriend got FOOD POISONING, allegedly after eating your seafood platter!!!! And he had to endure the 5 hour drive back to Cape Town the next day!! If this is what you are serving your patrons during season time, i shudder to think what danger could land on my plate during your off season quiet times!!! You will not see a cent of my money ever again!q

I love this place, views are incredible and food is amazing. We go every December, however the seafood platter for one was disappointing but everything else was perfect.

Hostile environment. In hindsight, Im glad my friends and I were turned away. We spent our fat budget at a proper restaurant.

The food was good. Had the Miso pork and the Creme Brule. The portions were healthy and the food rich. Blu was really worth a visit.The view was also stunning. The day we were there there wasnt a cloud in the sky and we had a clear line-of-sight to Buffalo Bay.

Fantastic dreamlike panoramic views , delicious huge pizzas like you only see in the movies, I actually liked how spacious the place was.

Really had an bad experience!Was judged at first sight!!Looked at restaurants nearby, Butterfly Blu poped up!!Was amazed at the photos, on the website as its says Dine in , Take aways no delivery!We got there, first thing the host says to us, take away pizza?No we want to sit down have a drink and order take way food, not just pizza...Sorry he cannot help only if we sit down and eat as the kitchen is to busy to do take away sea food... but can do dine in sea food.So we left .

We visited this restaurant with amazing seaviews for an anniversary. The food was terrible. The hake was warmed up, the waffle was so hard a fork could not stick into it. Terrible experience and the sad part is a few years ago we stayed in the hotel and had meals in this restaurant. No manager was available to chat to.

Had lunch ( Pizza) at Restaurant and what a disgraceful experience. The pizza I presume was made prior to our order and on being served was cold and rock hard. On complaining it was heated in the micro-oven which hardened it even more. Management , responsibility and pride is obviously lacking.

Fantastic location, views and decor. Perfect for both enjoying the sunset outside with a cocktail in summer and staying warm indoors during the cold months. Friendly service. The food on the other hand is not great at all; I had a bland bacon, ham etc pizza and my friend enjoyed the ostrich burger but the potatoe wedges accompanying the burger were inedible and tasted like they were fried in stale oil that had been used to prepare a different dish. But I would however go back on a full stomach to enjoy the view outside with a cocktail in hand

The restaurant is beautiful. But definitely not worth the visit! Food was blend, mediocre and overpriced for the standard on the plate. Pizza is the only decent dish. Ordered Belgian chocolate fondant for dessert. It came demolished as if it fell or had some kind of accident and then scooped back onto the plate. No apology. Even the waitress questioned it and they insisted she take it to our table. Whats the point of not breaking the chocolate out of the fondant? The manager was dismissive and assumed we didnt know or appreciate fondant presentation; some story about it being the last one left. The waitress told us it would take another 15 minutes to make. Which is which? Poor customer service and food.

Excellent food and atmosfere.

This remains one of my favourite restaurants on the Garden Route. The drawcard is the spectacular sea views and stunning restaurant decor. The food quality is good but may be a bit on the pricey side. I recommend trying out the clams or pizza and sipping on a cocktail while watching the sunset. The service is always on point and even though its a smart restaurant, our little one is always made to feel welcome.

Service was great and a winner in the fish and chips, came with onion rings and the best ever tasted tatare sauce. Pizza was a good size, however they forgot to add the olives requested as an extra and gave them on a side plate when queried. Will go back again but not for pizza. Good view and setting.

Terrible attitude received upon entering the restaurant. The waitress then walked away and threw our menus on the table before walking away and pointing in direction of table, indicating thats we should sit. We quickly realized that we were not wanted, so we did them the favour of promptly excusing ourselves! Disgusted!

We sat on the covered deck watching dolphins play in the wavesService - Accomodating and attentive staff were always on hand.Food - Exactly as expected. Great, simple food perfect for all ages especially after a long day playing in the waves.

Incredible spot on the ocean in Brenton on sea. All around views of the rugged coast line. All the way to Buffelsbay. Restaurant tastefully done with class but a real holiday vibe!! The waiters and staff are very friendly and well trained. You can try a cocktail, my favourite is a very well prepared Margarita frozen or shaken. We had pizzas and the gluten free option is available. Yay!!! One if the best GF bases Ive had. All the food looked great but the pizza definitely recommended. We had a wonderful lunch. One of my favorite spots!!
