We Decided to try out a new restaurant for our romantic weekend. The space is well decorated and beautiful design. At first if you tall, you wonder if the tables and chairs are designed for a certain average human height. Once you sit down height no longer becomes an issue but rather you appreciate height diversity and height inclusion. The staff :Friendly and welcomingUnderstand the menuThe food :Okay - good. Not great. Just good. Not value for money.Drinks :Great wine selectionCovid -19 regulations:Well respected and managed. Staff wearing masks, sanitation, cleaning regularly.

Sejour is a stunning restaurant overlooking the Houghton golf course. It’s the perfect setting for a romantic date night. However the food was a bit underwhelming. The Seasonal Salad was supposed to have burrata in it (as listed on the restaurant week website), but it doesn’t come with it at the actual restaurant. This made the salad quite plain. The Crispy Calamari was nice but the curry sauce gets too much. Luckily we both got the different starters so we could share. The Chicken and Mushroom main was delicious. The breast was tender and the broth had a lovely flavour. The Grass Fed Sirloin was disappointing. The meat was quite tough and I wasn’t able to eat most of it. However the fries that came with it were amazing! Soft and mashy inside, but crispy on the outside. Paired with a divine black garlic mayo. The chimichurri sauce was also scrumptious.Dessert was a Chai Posset (nice flavour, but didn’t enjoy the saltiness from the pumpkin pieces), and Milk Stout (average cake pieces, but the ice cream was wow!).The service was great and the manager did come and chat to us about the tough steak issue, but I do think such a fancy restaurant should make sure their steak is up to scratch!

I had the Wagyu Rump. What a delicious piece of meat. Incredible marbling. There are side options for your grills like bone marrow and chimichurri. The fish was big eyed fish on a bed of risotto. It wasn’t particularly stand-out but okay. It was a decent and expensive meal.

We chose Séjour to be our first restaurant for the summer restaurant week in Johannesburg. Its the signature restuarant of The Houghton Hotel. The hotel is located in an exquisite sitting alongside the Houghtom golf course. It has a beautiful swimming pool area directly outside the restaurant. Simply a beautiful place to be, whether its sunset or for dinner. The restaurant week menu was delicious and great value. We will definitely be back to sample items off the main menu. The staff are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about their food and drink. The sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and the accompanying thick-cut chips with their parmesan gratings really hit the spot. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We went for our anniversary dinner. Service really good - all staff very knowledge about the food. Food was amazing and well definitely be back. Its difficult to name a standout dish as they were all brilliant. The line fish was great and the shortrib with black garlic was scrumptious. The milk stout dessert was incredible. Honestly cant think of any constructive criticism.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING EXPERIENCE!Makes me wish all my previous reviews of restaurants were a 3 or 4. This was truly 5.Firstly the restaurant is beautiful, with a clean and fresh aesthetic. We sat on the terrace which was just as lovely. From start to end, the service was on point and they were accommodating. They have an extensive wine list. The food was delicious!Everything tasted fresh with delicately balanced flavours, but still felt hearty! It was a fine dining experience with soul.No seasoning was needed.Only negative: the T-Bone was medium (which was requested) in some parts and well done in others. It is a tricky part of meet to get right because the thickness varies from the outside in.We were a take of 4 and we had starters, mains and desserts. Which included meatless, red meat and fish options. All were sublime. We had 2 large bottles of water, cocktails and MCC. Our bill was R3k including tip. I feel thats value for money compared to other restaurants of a similar standard.Love love love! Thank you to the chef and pastry chef for visiting our table and for the lovely treat for the birthday girl.

Excellent food. Twice visited and each time I have not been disappointed by the quality of the meals ordered. If youre looking for great fine dining in Joburg, this is it.However: The kitchen battles to cope with a full house and cannot prioritise orders. We were a table of 6 on a busy Saturday night. Our server rightly advised we order early to avoid the bigger table-delays. Despite doing so, our food took well over an hour to arrive (mains). Kitchen was apologetic, but ultimately it spoiled an otherwise splendid evening. If you go when its busy, order almost immediately after sitting down to avoid disappointment. This might ruin the experience somewhat, but the interminable wait for the kitchen to get to the smaller tables once theyre done with the big fish is your alternative.

The chef is very passionate about his food and the food is excellent! A must visit when you are in Johannesburg. Beats many other fine dining restaurants in Johannesburg.
