I had a lovely time here! From walking in and encountering the friendly hostess, to my waitress & bartenders, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean & has a calm, not-over-the-top vibe. Decor looks great & the ladies room is so sexy & smells heavenly!I had the mignonette oysters as a starter, my first oysters ever! Enjoyed them sooooo much! Had the Porchetta main as recommended by my waitress, I found the pork belly a bit on the tough side but it wasnt so bad. The bean salad it came with was delicious though. Their cocktails are potent & well worth their price. Cant wait to return!!! 100 out of 10 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lovely decor and ambience, our waitress was so fantastic, such a pleasant lady. I enjoyed my meal. I had the muscles, they just came with these awful super skinny fries that did nothing for the dish. Fresh ciabata would have done the trick. The person I was with had the Moroccan chicken and loved it. I would definitely go back.I have been back a few times since, unfortunately my initial experience was a once off because the service has been awful since. Even the manager was rude.
Saw an article about this place being the best new girl in town. Went on to read reviews and I honestly wasnt impressed. Finally used it as a back up plan when the weather didnt allow Husbs and I to go on our outdoor adventure. I must say, I was IMPRESSED. I had a burger, Husbs had pasta and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service was also so efficient. I honestly cant fault anything. Great joint ✅
We got off to a rocky start with a bit of a delay on our food, but we got a reasonable explanation from the manager. And the food more than made up for the wait. I ordered lots of things because Im greedy, and everything was outstanding. This place is really good with chicken - the Moroccan chicken was a real highlight. There is great attention to detail and there were very subtle flavours in each dish we tried. The restaurant was packed and I can understand why. My wife loved her cocktail, we both loved everything we ate and I cant wait to be back.
Very beautiful restaurant that feels like the epitome of Rosebank, of Joburg wealth and luxury.Their covered outside seating is perfect for a warm summer night or a mild winters eve.The servers are friendly and well versed in the ins and outs of the menu. The salmon is melt in the mouth and the pairing with apple may seem unconventional but is perfect. The price and portion are slightly misaligned but it left room for dessert. Dessert is a must at Proud Mary. I had the malva which was heaven and my friend had the cheesecake which looked better than anything on masterchef.I cant wait to go back but my bank account might not agree.
Great ambience, tastefully decorated. Menu lacks a little on the vegetarian menu. Steak was well done bit a bit underwhelming in taste. Friend ordered the salmon. Was very well done. Dessert was divine. Drinks were great. You definitely need to book ur table in advance. A great chill spot.
This is the probably the best restaurant in Johannesburg at present. The food is delicious. The service was impeccable. To top it all off, the decor and ambiance are absolutely exquisite. When you step in to the restaurant, you immediately feel as though you have been whisked off in to another world. We had the crispy calamari and pork belly as starters. They were both absolutely delicious. The garlic aioli complimented the calamari brilliantly. The pork belly was so tender that it literally melts in your mouth. For mains we had the waygu burger and rib eye steak. They were both served with delicious triple fries french fries. The steak was accompanied by a delicious chimichurri. The peanut butter gelato that is served with the chocolate dessert is simply the best we have ever tasted.A thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch. It is an expensive affair but definitely worth it! We will be back.
Beautiful decor and vibe. Awesome food, the caesar salad was amazing, but this was since removed from the menu. The pork bell was to die for!! Well done! I had the chocolate mousse dessert, that was recommended - i was not a big fan of it, but I don’t like mousse in general so I will try something else next time for dessert. Service was very good and friendly and fast. Plenty of options, but not too much. Thanks for a great experience.
We tried a nice variety of dishes and drinks with a family of 4. Drinks: non alcoholic Botanica cocktail was like a special lemonade (a bit like cucumber sprite actually). One person liked and the other not so much. I didn’t taste much of a gin (nonalcoholic gin) taste but fun to try. Husband said the Moscow mule was much better than he usually gets in South Africa (we’ve seen some strange additions like bitters). I tried an orange wine for the first time. Interesting. Food: we tried two veggie small plates— the broccoli which no one really liked as it had some strange honey tasting sweetness to it and the aubergine and labneh. Those are not worth the money in my opinion. Very small with nothing to wipe the labneh sauce up with though they looked pretty. Mains:my steak with mushrooms was fantastic. I asked about sides (ordered separately) so I added on a salad but honestly the steak with the mushrooms is absolutely enough. The side salad tasted like a lemony bite of spring with a lot of alt greens. Not your usual Italian or iceberg lettuce mix. Two tried the falafel salad. Best falafel we’ve had in SA. Very fluffy. For me the whole plate was a little carb heavy as it also had beet humus and bulgur wheat as a base but the Beet hummus was amazing. Hubs added on the chicken in the small plates to his falafel salad and it was nice and spicy. One person had the Aubergine salad and really enjoyed it. That one is very very light so be aware. It wasNot filling but was tasty. Service was ok. Table for 4 had very little room for 4 mains with drinks. Too much stuff on the middle of the table. We didn’t try any desserts but we sat next to the coffee cafe and they had cookies literally the size of your head. This is a splurge restaurant so be prepared.
Went when it opened and it was great but the next two times I went out was not great at all. Started really good but since its gained popularity the quality of the food has gone down, the menu has even been changed and the price is not feasible anymore. But if you want a cute Instagram pic its cool.
Super trendy new spot, I didn’t expect it to be in Rosebank mall but it really doesn’t feel like you’re in a mall at all!The decor is superb, and the service was excellent. Also quite a nice selection of cocktails and wine on offer. The food was great overall (just a few bumps here and there), and we’ll definitely be back to try more on the menu!• Coal Roasted Broccoli - surprisingly the best dish of the night. That sauce is drool-worthy 🤤• Seabass Ceviche - not the best ceviche I’ve had but still pretty good.• Pea and Goat’s Cheese Risotto - rich, creamy and delicious! Would be difficult to finish a whole bowl because of its richness so probably best ordered to share.• Porchetta - tasty flavours, though I thought the pork could have been a bit more tender and the butter beans were a bit too basic for the overall dish. Would have preferred a more exciting and delicious side to accompany it.• Morrocan Chicken - the chicken had great flavour, but the starch bulgur pilaf was just ok.
A fairly new spot in Rosebank. Great ambience and lovely decor with spacious floor area. I went on a weekday afternoon and it was quiet, it does seem to be a trendy and vibey place to be. The service was ok. The food was good, the Moroccan chicken being the star of the show for me, the waygu burger could have used some seasoning and was a bit disappointing flavour wise. I’d like to go back for their breakfast menu.
Poor service. Arranging seating seemed like too much of an effort. Asked for a croissant. Didn’t come. After everyone got their meal I asked about it, said he’ll check. Expect way better service for the prices they charge.
The food was great and service also but if you gonna go there late make sure you made reservations cause its usually fully packed.
Make a reservation before going, most tables are reserved.Service was awesome.Ambiance was great.Menu is refreshing and unique.Food:Small plate: Pork belly was dry.Small plate: Bbq Octopus was mere.Broccoli was the really good.Tabbouleh Salad was nice but dry.Tin and Toast (Sardines) was really good.
Given that we didn’t reserve a table in advance, we were still helped. The food, drinks and overall ambience of the place is nice. All the staff were constantly checking on us and making sure we were comfortable. Please do ask to be served by Natasia, she is the nicest waitress I have ever met. Definitely will be going back to visit
Amazing atmosphere and beautiful service perfect for day time treats and lunch time vibes. Great for day drinks and sundowner
Lovely vibe, superb and excellent staff/waiters. And the food is divine
I have frequented Proud Mary, partly due to me working in the same building. Before I speak to food, what great decor and ambience this place has an any time of the day.The staff are friendly and helpful. They go the extra mile! When its super busy, you may wait a little longer than usual, but thats if Im being finicky.Their salads (chicken thigh one and the wagyu beef) are honestly to die for! (And Im not a salad girl in the least)The only one I dislike is the Falafels and Taboulleh salad and thats only because of the shredded cauliflower. My absolute fave is the prawn/fishcakes with the mango salad.Small Plates:Sticky pork belly is out of this world good and hits the spot.Im disappointed that they removed their crispy calamari from the small plates menu! That was a true hit. Instead there is the grilled calamari that has very similar garnishes to potatoe bravas (comfort food). The salmon sashimi was a let down, the yuzu and the sauce that accompanied it, did nothing to elevate the amazing pieces of sashimi. It felt like it was trying to combine two different ideas into one (like an Asian cerviche, with no standout flavours)Mains:The ribeye is great and sure to satisfy. The mussels in the coconut curry sauce with skinny fries is my favorite! Its fresh, plentiful and heart warming. Super satisfying.Dessert:A BIG KUDOS to the pastry chefs, I have a terrible sweet tooth and every time I run down for coffee, they have the most delicious sweets. The pasties de nata ;) Best gourmet donuts and steaming hot (not the typically served lukewarm) coffee 👌🏽Ill be back to try everything on the menu, because its different to all the other eateries out there. Refreshing and something for everyone.Their fish is top notch quality. Im looking forward to eating more of their fish dishes.
Grabbed breakfast here on Saturday morning. Good, relatively busy vibe. Food and coffee were both great but their service was a let down. Floor staff need to be trained in ensuring their areas are serviced well and that they’re visible - it’s no joke trying to get the attention of your waiter for 10 minutes when getting the bill.
Incredible. Classy place, with excellent staff and a very interesting menu. Vegan and vegetarian friendle meals, taken to next level. Even the simplest dishes, like their triple fried chips, was glorious!
What an incredible experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were committed to providing great service and were extremely friendly- a special thanks to Andile. The food is just mind blowing, full of flavours that are beyond complimentary. We will most definitely be back!
Pretty place. Well proportioned and an excellent wine list. Came too late for dinner but will def be early enough next time. Nice ambiance. Great date venue
Lovely ambience, a nice selection of vegan options on the menu and great staff (although they could perhaps pay more attention to detail eg make sure that you get the toast that you ordered before bringing the dish out to you). (As a side note, when I tried to make a booking on Dineplan two days before, it was fully booked. I went along anyway, and got a nice table outdoors.)
Its was amazing. Good customer service, brilliant food, aesthetics and interior design. The lighting is just a bit too dim for my liking (perfect romantic, cozy setting though)
Amazing food all round. Their broccoli dish will turn you vegetarian if you arent ready. Great atmosphere and service. If only they could expand their beer on tap range.Very excited to go back again
Spacious, trendy-class, and top notch friendly and professional service. Food is just ok, interesting wine list... Above average pricing. They could do with a bit of price diversity.
Great modern food! Nice atmosphere. Very stylish interior. Friendly staff. Nice Saturday/Sunday afternoon vibe 🍹🍽
Great location! Beautiful place, wonderful service and the food is even better! Cant wait to go back.
Beautiful decor, beautiful food, impeccable service.
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Place has a elegant, modern vibe. Food was delicious, service was amazing.
Went there for a drink and was impressed by the extensive gin, whisky and wine collection. Definitely would recommend
Great ambience, good food and service.
The food is well balanced and super tasty. Portion sizes are substantial but not overwhelming. Our waiter was very attentive and service effecient. I look forward to future visits.
Amazing food, ambiance and drink. We had a lovely, kind and fun waiter by the name of Kelvin.
Food was excellent it may be a little expensive but it is well worth the money.
I loved everything. Beautiful spot to meet up, anytime of the day.Food was good too.
Beautiful restaurant, Great Service, Well Spaced out. Extensive Breakfast Menu. Had the sweet pancakes and cappucino. Cappucino cups on the small side, so I had 2 of them. Would visit again
Fast becoming my favourite spot in jhb. Great food! Great place! Great service!
Beautiful place with great food and service.
We were lucky to get a table inside on a Friday night without booking! It was packed, and this was well-deserved because the vibe is great and food is amazing.I absolutely loved the great variety of vegan options, which steps beyond the usual falafels, humus and boring salad offering! My meals were flavourful and so well-presented!Definitely going back.
There isnt a wide variety when it came to the menu, the gin cocktail I had was so yummy though. Nice chilled relaxed date night vibes
Went for dessert and cocktails with a friend, the service was great and everything tasted great 👍
Dont know about it, food was fine service really good atmosphere not for me I think but others might enjoy
Excellent service from my arrival till departure, food was amazingly well cooked...good potions, that steak and egg🤌, that smoke salmon Royale 🤌. Im definitely coming again.
WOW What a Stunning Beautiful place, a really fancy place if you want to impress someone!
Food was spectacular and the service on point. Great experience - it was busy but the waiters waited on us very well.
My bagel was not fresh the only nice thing thus far was the hot white chocolate and tiny cappuccino. Sent my order back let’s hope they get it right this time. The waiter Kevin is very nice though decided to change my order to a croissant base, fingers crossed.
Everything: the ambience, service, food, etc. Everythi g was awesome👌🏾🤞🏾🌹
Waiters were great ... on food I can not say much.
Great decor, good enough service, only had carrot cake and cheese board. Carrot cake nice taste but dense and stodgy, cheese board laughably limited at the R140 cost
The food was really good. The cake was terrible. But overall a beautiful place
Have had a great experience at Proud Mary every time. The food is generous and well-executed. The staff are friendly and attentive. The environment is polished and welcoming. Lovely location!
From the moment we walked in I knew that it was going to be exceptional. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful waitress Melody who went over and above for us.The food exceeded my expectations. We came for an early breakfast.Breakfasts can be very average but this was just exceptional!!!Cant wait to come back for dinner.I love this place decor ambiance service everything!!! All the small attention to detail!! Especially the le cruset coffee cups ☕10 out of 10
Very good food, poor service and cold. The general manager walks around with a drink in his hand making him indistinguishable from a patron.Physical menus is a piece of paper, for R200 a steak I think you guys could do better.Typical Joburg, lots of flash nothing that special, try Saint.
Great service, excellent finger snacks and drinks. Perfect place to just chill with friends or family. Fantastic experience
What a vibe! Very busy and full of trendy people. Food was exceptional, with some serious blending of flavours, to create a buzz in your mouth. Stumpnose to die for, plenty for sharing! Amazing wine list. Staff were trying really hard, just need a bit more experience. We loved it!!
Just soooo good. The special prime rib is 100% THE BEST STEAK I have ever had, I hope its still on the menu.
Great vibe and good food. Cocktails could be better and place could do with more waiters as they struggle when its busy. Overall one of my new favourite places in jhb.
Awesome menu, drinks and ambience. Decor is fantatsic.
The food was underwhelming, our first waitress was unprofessional and impatient though the great service from the manager who found us a cozy table by the fireplace made up for it.I love the details, from the decor, the staff, uniforms, the coffee bar. Ill definitely go back again.
Nice Friday after works drinks vibes. Too loud for deep meaningful conversations though, but definitely an unwinding spot for a decent catchup and good food and wine. Must visit!
Asian omelette! Hands down the best omelette I have ever had.No oil, light and fluffy and flavors that just worked!
I just walked in for a look because I heard so much how it is going to be. Its stunning inside. People very friendly and the desserts looked mind blowing. I will recommend Proud Mary to all our clients and our financial institutions.
