I visited the restaurant with my friends, we were delighted by the authentic South Indian starters and main course. The taste is delicious and the service is excellent food served on time with very hot and fresh feels like just having home food at restaurant after a long time..Thank you Satkar for serving such a wonderful food..

I looked online if I can Indian food I have not eaten come to South Africa about 3 weeks I drove 23 km i was the only one they made every thing fresh and I was really happy lovely place for your family and friends or birthday party

Fantastic flavorful dishes. Reasonably priced and great value fore money. I highly recommend the samosa starters. I look forward to it everytime.

The Tikka Chicken portion is absolutely ridiculous for the price paid. It also tastes quite bad. Its definitely not worth the R90. Extremely disappointed.

I ordered Veg and Chicken Biryani I am quite disappointed with the taste, theres not enough flavour coming through. The flavour is really mild if it was not for the spiciness I would not been able to tolerate the taste.

We ate the veg platter and tried 2 or 3 different curries including the bunny chow all were really good, flavourful, freshly made and plentiful. The service was great and the beer was cold. If you want wholesome, hearty Indian food this is the place.

Quantity and quality is good... Taste could be made better. Otherwise the menu is good enough with enough variety. Situated in a nice commercial area full of pubs and coffee shops. Service is good as well.

We read good reviews but we did not enjoy the food as most people advised. It needed more flavour. Staff were friendly but no haste in service. The chicken tandoori was okay but you can get better at some of the other Indian restaurants in Gauteng.

I visited this restaurant with two people from overseas. Unfortunately it did not show our country at its best. About a third of the items on the menu were simply unavailable. Service was friendly but slow. There are better Indian restaurants in Johannesburg and better restaurants in Melville. Edited to add: the owner responded to that there couldnt have been a time when 1/3rd of the menu was unavailable. But on the night we visited we were told no lamb dishes were available. Looks like the owner doesnt know what his or her staff are doing. Reduced rating to 1 star because the response makes clear the owner doesnt see anything wrong with shoddy service.

Satkar Melvilles never disappoints with their meals. ALWAYS fresh and Big portions + Friendly staff and Great owner. Best indian food in town.

We bought a voucher for a 2 course meal, and went there on a Saturday not knowing the voucher was only valid for weekdays, the guy said no problem its fine seeing that we there already, but when the bill arrived they charged us for dessert. Very disappointing seeing that we were the only 2 people in the restaurant.

We had a very pleasant experience at Satkar with very good food and excellent service. Both the Lamb Curry as well as the Tandoori Chicken we ordered were delicious. We will be back again!

Big shout out to the guys at Satkar! Not only delicious food but great service. My food had turned up split in the bag (please see previous review). They apologized and gave me a new meal on the house. Perfect example of how to turn a bad situation into a great one! Thinks guys.I will absolutely order again.

I have always been impressed with all of the dishes at Satkar, especially the Chicken Korma. More than that, the hosts have gone out of their way to accommodate my friends and myself when dining there on special occasions. Whether a sit- down or take- out, Satkar has never disappointed.

The food is delicious. However, it takes over 45 minutes to prepare the dishes. But I guess you cannot rush perfection.

Lip smacking Indian food. A bit expensive but more than makes up for it by the taste and portions.

Ive moved up from KZN to JHB, and after trying a few Indian restaurants, it felt like I wasnt going to find something to my taste.Finally, I came to Satkar, I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Everyone has their own preference, but I definitely think that you should pop by and try out their food.Id recommend the Chicken Vindaloo for the brave.

The food was not that bad.The chicken was well seasoned.The fries were nothing extraordinary and they were not seasoned, that time we were not even given condiments or seasoning for the fries.The Naan was too nice 🤞🏿I even wanted more of it 😂The most disappointing fact was that they were painting during operetional hours and that for me was a deal breaker for us to sit in. How can a food joint be serving people with all those paint fumes? Nah that was a total turn offBut the Naan 🙌🏿👌🏿

Wonderful flavours. Always deliver on food quality. Prices are a bit higher than other Indian restaurants but worth it.

Satkar Indian Restaurant: We as family visited Satkar Indian Restaurant for Diwali evening. They haa special lights that were lit up in the restaurant including at the entrance. The look and feel is awesome. We were welcome by a happy looking waitresses. We loved the food. The starters was very delicious. On the main course Butter chicken with Naan was very tasty. We loved everything that we ordered. The best north Indian food at very affordable pricing . Loved every bit. Thanks guys.

Perfectly spiced curries! Exactly what you ask for. Had a delicious aubergine and paneer (spinach & cream) curry. A lil long to prepare but clean (not overly rich) delicious food. Mon & Tuesday eat 2 curries & get the other free! Very good cost wise.

Vindaloo and chicken tikka Masala is okay. But tonight for the first time we decided to try the chicken biryani and it was the worst Ive ever tasted. Its nothing like Biryani is supposed to be like.

Love this local Indian restaurant, have been going there for years. And now they are also on uber eats (great for winter hibernation) and they have introduced meat free mondays wirh 25% off vegetarian curries! Tasty food and friendly staff.

We tried SATKAR in Melville for a family lunch. The Decor was very authentic and the place had an awesome aroma of curry in the air. Our table ordered chicken breyani, vegetable breyani, brinjal, lamb curry and a chicken curry. The food was good and didnt take very long to arrive. Unfortunately the waiter was less than friendly and not very customer orientated. Desert was good, we tried the carrot halwa and soji halwa. Once again the waiter seemed rather, put out, to have to bring extra spoons and bowls to the Table. All in all fairly good food... Service could be a lot better.

Im sorry that I have to share this feedback on Google Reviews, but the email on the Satkar website keeps on bouncing back:Dear Satkar ManagementI recently moved into Melville, and last night, overcome with a craving for Indian food we tried out your restaurant. We had very little time to wait as we had other appointments to keep later the evening, so decided to opt for a take-away rather than sitting down. Our payment for our orders went through at 18:38 (I know because of my credit card records), however, we only received our food at 19:23; that equals exactly 45 minutes of waiting for our order. In my opinion, waiting 45 minutes for a take-away is completely, COMPLETELY unacceptable. Even if we sat down at a table for our food 45 minutes waiting period for a basic, single course dinner is completely unacceptable, and even more so if you give yourself out to be a take-away restaurant (as is deduced by your signage outside).Its tragic, because we live so close to you, and looked forward to making you our go-to Indian restaurant to frequent in future, however, because of that insane waiting period (without feedback from your front of house staff, without something to apologise for waiting so long such as a drink of water to say the least) we shall NEVER EVER return. As a service provider myself I’m aware of how important positive word of mouth publicity is, and sadly negative impressions travel much further and much faster than positive ones.I didn’t say anything about this last night (despite the fact that I was livid) because I was with my friends and partner, and didn’t want to spoil the little positivity that remained within us as we left, but I felt it really important to send this email today, and I just hope that you internalise this feedback, because I guarantee you that I’m not unique in my inability to cope with a 45 minute waiting period for a take-away.RegardsWessel
