Such a delightful time celebrating a double 80th birthday for our old duckies / parents. Thanks for the spoils and superb experience.

This cute French cafe is exactly the vibe I was looking for. Hosting was on point from a social distanced table, sanitized, temp check. Complimentary water and hot chocolate was too cute and courteous. The price was not bad at all compared to Camillas in fourways, and.... the music, noise levels, and ambiance was just great. Perfect place for a Sunday morning breakfast vibe. The waiters are dressed in cute French attire and know their menus. We went with a English breakfast and the Egg Benedict. I had to ask to replace the ham with Mushrooms. I think vegetarian options could be worked on a little bit. All in all the Belgian hot chocolate was too tasty I had another... and... the cutlery and crockery used is very acquaint and on point. The little duck theme is very cute and I love that they took the idea and went wild with it. 5 stars.

From the first step through the doorway, the staff were on point. From the almond hot chocolate to the beef stroganoff and carrot cake, I was charmed and relaxed. Great restaurant for business meetings, high tea and brunch. I will return 😉

I love everything about this French style restaurant! The decor, the food, the service and the management. Every single table has beautiful colorful duck and everything in the restaurant is chose with care to reflect the duck theme. The prices are also very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

A lovely French style cafe. We started the evening with complimentary hot chocolate which was delicious. For main courses we had the duck and cherry pie, the Le Canard Signature (duck breast) and the seared salmon. All the dishes were very tasty and came as a generous portion size.The staff were welcoming and friendly. We also found out that the restaurant (and the rest of the Pineslopes centre) have a generator which means they still serve food during load shedding. They are also COVID compliant. We will definitely go back in the future!

A wonderful experience from the delightful staff to the excellent food. The complimentary Duck Liver Pate that they serve you was so creamy and delicious, definitely addictive! We had the Lobster Bisque and Prawn Shooters for starters, and both were flavourful and tasty. We got an assortment of mains including their signature Duck dish, the Salmon, and Fillet on the bone... all were superb and raved about! My only complaint was the side veg of the day which is an additional R20, I found the dish to be quite bland and slightly undercooked. For dessert we tried the Walnut Parfait which wasn’t what I expected but still tasted delicious. The Crepe Suzette was also great. Overall a terrific experience, we will definitely be back to try their breakfast offerings!

Lovely restaurant in Fourways. The service is really good. The waiters and managers are always close by and ready to assist. I ordered a a baguette which came with chips and a freshly squeezed orange juice. The orange juice really made afternoon. Id go back just for the juice.The decor was put up quite nicely with key French places on the restaurants wallpaper.The crowd? It was definitely 50 and above on that day.

Literally my new favorite restaurant! What a gem! The service was exceptionally warm and welcoming. The menu is unique and interesting, yet chefs grade food. Its a place where I just want to eat again and again and again.!!!

It ticked all the boxes; stunning décor, delicious food, (even the kids were happy) friendly waiters and a lovely cozy atmosphere. He LOVED his cheesecake! A quick stop for a little indulgence never hurt anyone. Popped into Old Ducky French Café for some dessert. Couldnt decide between the Carrot Cake, Milktart or the Cheesecake which looked good as it went past.Decided to give the Carrot cake a try (afterall its healthy right, carrots nuts etc) and my sis had the Crêpe Suzette.My Carrot cake didnt disappoint and it was a huge slice so I took half home. My sis enjoyed her crepes, but was expecting it to be a little bigger.Next time well try the food as the prawns that went past me to the table behind us smelled soo good and Im going for the milktart. What a pleasant experience! Had breakfast at Old Ducky with a friend and the food was really good. The look and the feel of the place is really quaint and very different from your chain restaurant type boring same old... We sat on the balcony which is nice and private but is open enough to ensure that you know you are on the deck. The service was very friendly and quick. Pricing was good value for money costing us about R100 a head. I will definitely return possibly for dinner to have some of the French cuisine which looked yummy on the very innovative pop out duck menu (see photograph). I like this place!!

How have I not been to this amazing diamond of a restaurant!I love the bright yellow that the staff all wear! The decor is so much fun and amazing lights on each table that I’m going to order myself for load shedding.Our waitress, Hawa, was outstanding.I had an English breakfast with my own jar of marmalade!We had tasters of the cauliflower soup. I’m so going back for that!Marina thanks for your help to order the light!

Quality.You know you found quality when they remember you as a guest with fussy requests from 2 months ago, when the waiters say thank you for coming back, they remember particular details from your last meal. Who does that anymore? I know, the old ducky does. Their customer service alone makes you come back, they can serve you dry toast and make you like it. Theyre a kind of team that truly stands out. Their food is amazing, small dishes but enough to make you full.

The old ducky is simply fantastic. A small bistro style restaurant with a great vibe and amazing food (with all the typical bistro favorites and a few other options). Really worth a visit.

Ambience amazing. The food is good some dishes better than others in my view. Adored the pate and the French onion 🌰 soup. Hubby was not overly impressed with the steak. Awesome place will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved this place, the food & the ambience....the service was absolutely a great experience, the waitress we had was faultless and very very welcoming and helpful.We went there for Mothers day breakfast, our first experience at this place but certainly wont be the last, I can see us returning again & again 🤗

This elegant little restaurant is neatly tucked in at the Pineslopes shopping centre just behind Monte Casino and was a pleasant surprise!The dining is modern with just the right touch of classic French café vibes meeting every day eating thats Not on a budget.The menu is quite exciting without being to complex and long. Even if Steak Tartare is not your cup of tea watching the chefs prepare it at the table is an awesome treat.Some of the usual classic options are available for the conservative palate but still have a French twist and these are accompanied by some slightly more daring dishes.Should the Duck pie not be your scene, anything you order will be prepared well and taste absolutely delicious.The house was full and a cheerful atmosphere was felt. We did not feel rushed and the wine and Strawberry Daiquiris were just what we needed.Its a good idea to go the traditional route here and order a starter and a main course. The mains are not quite generous enough for the hungry folks but make up for it with taste and will certainly be enough for those who are not big eaters.If you are daring and adventurous and want to sample the best of the menu rather order several starters at once and have a little bit of everything!

As with all of this ladies ventures the service is impeccable, the food on valentines night was to die for. Fresh made pate while we ordered wine from a very friendly relaxed sommelier. Lobster bisque, French bread and a huge chunk of tail on the plate.. Duck, and not just the breast but a leg too with raspberry sauce and trims . Biggest disappointment was I had no space for desert .

This is a hidden gem! Not often you get to experience french food and what a pleasant surprise! Well kept. We had the Duck and Cherry Pie and the Le Canard Duck- both to die for. Thank you for making good food accessible and easy to enjoy.

I came across this spot accidentally when I had a meeting in the vicinity. Simply had to go check it out. Imagine my surprise to discover its the same owner of Le Carnard that used to be on Rivonia Road which housed my fav ever crème brûlée but closed down. I was given a free petite croissant to try, which I’m told that the pastry is flown in from France and they are baked daily. I can confidently say they are the freshest I’ve had in a long time in SA, so come here if you don’t want to be disappointed. I tried the seafood pancakes that were under starters but don’t be fooled by the plate on the pic. The centre of it is deep and it was a decent size for a light meal if you’re not hungry for lunch. It was nicely spiced and creamy. All meals are prepared fresh. It’s a cute spot with outside seating.

The food is extraordinary. The ambience and deco are refreshing and sophisticated. The service is personally delivered by the host/owner who instantly makes you feel part of her family. This is one of my new favourite places in Jozi.

Great service. Good ambience. Unfortunately my breakfast was cold and hollandaise sauce was poorly made and still quite acidic and rather runny . The croissant was great and so was the Chocolate milkshake and coffee.

Excellent cappuccino and breakfasts. Cannot fault it and the staff are well trained, friendly and professional. For dinner we ordered the duck signature dish. The duck was excellent but apart from a very small potatoe tarte-like accompaniment this dish was far from sufficient and we had to order side plate of french fries and ideally should have ordered veg too which made the main meal quite pricey. Definitely enjoy this restaurant and will be back

Marina is the owner and is one of the most lovely people one comes across. Marinas 90 year old mom ran the most successful French restaurant in sandton for years. Happy people work in happy places. Miserable people work in miserable places. Marina’s staff is fun, vibrant, knowledgeable and attentive. Mello Yellow is our favorite server. Our favorite starters are the prawn shooters and mellow and Parma ham. Our favorite mains are the duck and the stroganoff. The cheese cake is fantastic. You cannot go wrong at the old ducky.

Was a quaint little restaurant with a limited menu, but rather do a few things well than many things mediocre. Wouldve liked to have had a bit more content with my breakfast as it was a bit plain but otherwise a nice little place. Will definitely try some of their other dishes soon to get a more thorough opinion.

Our evening at Old Ducky, was serendipity!We were meant to be home in Cape Town already, but due to one of our family members taking ill at the airport on the Fri and being rushed to hospital, we ended up having to stay. I don’t know Jozi at all and tried googling to find somewhere to eat on the Sat eve. Pineslopes shopping center seemed to offer the most choice, so off we went hoping for the best.Well the best is exactly what we got! Attracted by the sparkling lights, vibey atmosphere, we arrived at the door of (initially undecided between the two), a Greek restaurant called Nikoe, where we were greeted by the most lovely and accommodating lady (owner?). She informed us that Nikoe was fully booked, but proceeded to find us place in Old Ducky, which I believe she also owned (correct me if I’m wrong) and told us we could order from either menu. This we duly did, I went for pulled lamb soufflaki, while my husband chose beef fillet stronganoff. My MIL had lobster bisque, which she hasn’t stopped raving about. She said she was going to let us taste it, but she got carried away and ate the lot!😂. This is a woman who never finishes anything on her plate.Husband said stroganoff was great and I loved my soufflaki too.All of this in the most wonderful setting with fabulous (and hilarious) staff.My hospitalised father in law was extremely jealous and on explaining to the cardiologist how he’d missed out, the doc asked the name of the restaurant, and then immediately said it was his favourite restaurant and that he goes there often himself.If I’m ever to return to the area, I will most definitely return to the Old Ducky, for the food and the wonderful people. Thanks for turning an anxious weekend into a special ,precious and positive memory. You guys rock! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Heard great things about Old Ducky and was excited to give it a try. Upon arrival, the waiter had to be reminded to check temperatures and to sanitize us. Our food had arrived before our drinks and within 5 minutes of ordering. I had ordered the eggs benedict and was served cold, had to send it back to be remade, the hollandaise on the eggs Benedict was extremely sour too (too much lemon juice). Very disappointed as I was looking forward to a great Sunday breakfast.The chocolate croissant and Ferraro milkshake was a complete winner though.

Attentive waitresses in yellow and white ducky uniforms. More upmarket than the usual restaurants in Johannesburg. A bit small in terms of space but usually for reservations only. Frequented by older folk chiefly. Pity about the wallpaper design. Should be changed. I would suggest Ugly Duckling theme

Something completely different. Any item I have chosen from the menu, has been a surprise. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff. The duck is to die for. The quinoa salad is really really tasty. The steak was so juicy and delicious. Be careful with the pate as a starter, you want to order more bread to finish it but you really need to leave some space for the main and you must try the parfait. Even the carrot juice is yummy. The Lady Marinna, makes you feel like a celebrity. 5**** all the way!

So, visiting a delightful new French restaurant in Pineslopes near Montecasino turned out to be so much more than I anticipated (and I was expecting excellence!).Delicious food, attentive, friendly staff, lovely decor - it has it all!
